Work Text:

“Thank you for having me, Second.” The Chosen One bows in appreciation before heading to leave for the outernet. “No problem! See you next Thursday!!” Second waves before collapsing onto the couch with his friends. As Chosen opens the portal he heard someone yelling for him.

“Wait!” They yell coming to a stop in front of him. “I’m so very sorry Mister Chosen One! I meant to stop you earlier but I never got the chance!” Yellow gasped. Chosen looked at him confused, and helped him off the ground. “Thanks… so- uhm… I stopped you because I’d like to ask you some questions. If that’s okay with you! Since you and… uh you have powers! I wanted to know the limits and what you can or cannot do! Since we’ve seen you use wind to make a tornado, or lasers out of your eyes! Oh and-!” Yellow kept rambling on about what he wanted to ask Chosen. The unfortunate part for Yellow is that Chosen doesn’t keep track nor knows the answers to his questions.

“So! A quick interview? Please!” Chosen felt a drop of sweat roll down his cheek as Yellow pleaded with him. Chosen denied and stepped back hoping to fall into the outnet portal, but Yellow was persistent. He’d say, “I promise it’ll only be a few!” or “It won’t be anything personal! Just small questions about your abilities!”. Yellow kept bombarding Chosen with pleases and promises for what felt like hours. Chosen sighed, “Fine. Just try to keep the questions under 20 and the personal ones to a minimum.” He crossed his arms firmly. Yellow jumped up and down excitedly, and pulled out a piece of paper. ‘He had these prepared beforehand!?’ Chosen thought, wondering if this was a good idea anymore.

“First question: about your laser eyes, how high is the temperature?” Chosen thought, but before he could answer, “How much do you think you could lift?!”. Chosen stood there a little stupid as he didn’t know the answers to either question, but Yellow didn’t seem to notice.

“Can you use your fire powers with your feet too?”

“How do your lighting powers work? Do they need a catalyst!?”

“How does your-”

“When does-”

“Do you need-”

Chosen felt like the questions would never stop, nor would he think he could answer all of them. While Yellow rambled on; he looked behind him and saw the rest of the color gang watching as Yellow interrogated him. Well… minus Second- he was sleeping. Red seemed to have pouted about not being able to say the final goodbye to Chosen. Green stared at Yellow before sighing, and pulled out his phone. Blue was just watching this go on while munching on… something red? Probably from that game these kids play throughout the day.

“Did the red bots… virabots! Did they do any permanent damage to you?”

Chosen was a little caught off guard by this question. He racked his brain for any answer but got none so he just stared at Yellow. Yellow, seemingly forgetting he isn’t reciting the questions in a mirror, just stared at his paper with his questions on it.

“How did you open the portal to the outernet the first time?”

“Why was Dark Lord evil? What was his reason for creating virabots?”

Chosen just stared as Yellow kept throwing questions at him. But all Chosen could think about was his best friend of several years. ‘Where did he go?’ ‘Was he dead?’ ‘If he was dead… then he would’ve been where he was left after Second’s… outburst.’ The more Chosen thought, the less he heard of Yellow’s questions. Not like he was given time to answer them anyways.

“Why did you bow to Second after we were brought back? Did he do something? I thought you defeated The Dark Lord!”

“Do you spend time in Stickcity at all?”

“How long have you lived in the Outernet?”

Though Chosen knew the answers to these questions; Yellow gave him no time to answer before going onto the next question. Chosen was slowly getting impatient. He looked over to the Color gang, hoping one of them would save him, but alas, none of them were paying attention anymore. Chosen was starting to zone out, look around, thinking of how he had to get groceries by himself tomorrow…

“Do you even know the limits of your powers!?”

“How did you know Alan was using me!? Was it because he was playing Solitaire while waiting for me or you to kill each other!?”

“How’d you know the way to the outernet? Was it intuition? Luck?”

“Come on Cho! You have to know at least one of the answers!”

‘Dark?’ Chosen thought as he snapped back to reality. He thought he heard Dark Lord… but all he saw was Yellow looking at him with sparkles in his eyes. Clearly waiting for answers now. Chosen’s eyes softened as he remembered one of the first times Dark Lord interrogated him about his opinions, powers, you name it.

“Sorry Yellow, you were a little fast there. I couldn’t catch anything…” Chosen apologized, and was about to bow in sorrow. Yellow stopped him though. “That’s on me… sorry Mister Chosen One! This is an old habit of mine…” Yellow apologized before hanging his head low. Chosen stood a little shocked… ‘Dark never apologized… ah! Stop thinking about him!’ Chosen sighed before kneeling a bit to put his hand on Yellow's shoulder. “You’re fine, old habits are hard to break. Tell you what; next time I come over, we can do this again, but you have to slow down.” Yellow’s eyes brighten before hugging Chosen. “Thank you! I promise next time I’ll slow down on the questions.

Chosen wasn’t expecting that, but… he didn’t mind. He bid farewell for real this time and left through the portal. As Chosen was flying home, he saw remnants of the battle that only took place a few months ago.

“Hm… I didn’t realize I missed him that much…”
