Work Text:

Clint stood under the shower not expecting to feel like this--sick to his stomach. It wasn't that he wasn't grateful to have Phil back to be with him and Pippa, but this was going to be a huge adjustment. He didn't want Pippa's life disrupted. Clint had been wondering what Phil would think about his parenting style. He didn't want to have Phil back and lose him him because they couldn't come to terms. They were two different people. When he and Phil had discussed having a a baby they never go this far in their negations.

Clint wiped his tears and hoped that he and Phil could make this work. Pippa had been raised that her Poppy loved her and would have been here if he could have. He didn't want her to ever think that she broke them-up, but Pippa had to be his first priority.

Clint got out of the shower, dried off and put on his night clothes. Exiting the ensuite he said to Phil, who was sitting on the side of his--thier bed, "Your turn."

"You've been crying," Phil said. "Have I got in between and you and someone else? I know it;'s been a long time. I shouldn't have assumed."

"You're the love of my life," Clint said. "There hasn't been anyone since you," omitting that he and Nat had made Pippa the old fashioned way, but that was a conversation for another day.

"Then why the tears?" Phil asked, leaning on his cane as he limped toward his husband and wrapped his arm around his husband's torso.

"I don't know," Clint said, "just being stupid I suppose."

"You're worried that we can't make this work after all these years," Phil said .

Clint had always wondered if his husband was omniscient.
