Work Text:

Gallagher is woken up by the lit of morning sunshine grazing his face. The light that shyly casts through the heavy curtain illuminates the dark room with golden streaks. Usually, Gallagher is not a morning person, that thought never crossed his mind given his job as a bartender. However, however, that changes since he met Sunday. Like a quiet storm walking toward him, that night Sunday looked incredibly beautiful. The memory is still fresh in his mind like it just happened yesterday.

Now, turning his head to the side, the very man in his memory is sleeping soundly. His usually neat hair is now turning left and right. It’s cute how Gallagher is the only person that can see Sunday’s relaxed expression like this. Almost feels like the warm sunshine is shining right through his chest, it’s always like this whenever he looks at Sunday.

While he enjoys basking the serenity of the moment, his fingers into Sunday’s silver locks, his lips whispers light kisses all over Sunday’s face, which make Sunday frowns and grunts in his sleep. His little Birdie is too cute for his own good. Once his fingers start to touch Sunday, it feels like they have a mind of its own. It can’t stop.

“Rise and shine, Birdie.” He whispered softly, fingers still adeptly running through Sunday’s soft locks and inhaling the scent that is Sunday. A scent that turns Gallagher into an addict.

“Mmmhh… Sleepy.” Not opening his eyes, Sunday just tightening his hold on Gallagher’s shirt. Too comfortable to wake up, being in Gallagher’s embrace is a bliss.

His boyfriend just chuckles. How cute.

As much as Gallagher wants to keep Sunday like this, they need to wake up, and he needs to make breakfast for both of them. “Hm? The weather is nice, perfect even. I’d say a plate of waffles and fruits is hard to refuse, no?”

Slowly a smile spread on Sunday’s face. Indeed it’s hard to refuse Gallagher’s infamous waffles and fruits. And this is what Sunday likes the most when he opens his eyes, the very sight of Gallagher in front of him. All with that dreamy smile, brown locks that Sunday loves to ruffle, and the never-absent beard on his handsome face. Maybe, this is what heaven looks like, Sunday thinks.

“You make breakfast sound so tempting.”

Again, Gallagher brushes his fingers on Sunday’s lock and gives him a light morning kiss on the lips. “Of course. Now up and brush your teeth.”

One last kiss and they both get up from the bed, tidying up the room, opening the blinds, and brushing their teeth. It seems so… mundane, but this domestic ritual is what ties their relationship tighter. Don’t ask Gallagher, not even a single thought of being in a relationship and doing this domestic thing could bring so much peace into his life. But here he is, cooking breakfast he knows his boyfriend fancy while Sunday makes coffee and playing their favourite playlist on the pad, blaring A Sunday Kind of Love unironically.

“Yes, my love?” Says Gallagher when he feels two pairs of arms wrapped around him from behind. This is bliss. He loves how Sunday is a cuddle monster in the morning and he savours every second of it.
And when Gallagher turns his head, he catches Sunday’s radiant face, smiling from ear to ear. Those eyes dance with warmth and affection, like they speak of all of the delightful feelings in the world. Gallagher for sure his eyes mirrored Sunday.

“Great choice of music, is it not?” Sunday can be cheeky, and often catches Gallagher off guard. Indeed it is a great choice of music, literal and figuratively. The soft melody blocks the noises from the outside and eventually makes them feel like they are in their cocoon.

“Ah, yes.” Gallagher turns off the stove and loosens Sunday’s hold on him. Breakfast can wait, but he can’t miss a moment like this. Consider this will be a great treasure for his mind. The soft golden light filtering through their kitchen and the aroma of freshly made waffles and coffee in the air makes it ten times more intimate.

Teasingly, Gallagher gently pushes Sunday’s body into the kitchen aisle behind them and traps him there. A laughter rang from Sunday’s lips and it sounds like the best melody Gallagher ever heard in his life. Smiles and adoration are plastered on both of their faces. Gallagher brings their bodies closer together and loosely hugs Sunday. Both of them are warm from the morning sunlight and the warmth radiating from their bodies.

“I want a Sunday kind of love.” Gallagher murmurs into Sunday’s ear, making the other shivers just a little bit. Not only just from the whispers, but from the words and the soft beards grazing his skin. Gallagher inhales the scent, Sunday’s scent and continues, “Not just any Sunday, but this Sunday in particular. My Birdie.”

Upon hearing the pet name, Sunday can’t help but hug Gallagher a little closer. Every time Sunday’s hear that pet name, his heart swells. It is so insane how a simple pet name can make Sunday feel so adored.

Their soft breathing matches each other as this mundane yet magical moment airs between them. And when Sunday looks up, he catches Gallagher’s eyes soaring the love that makes their connection deeper. Gallagher looks at him like he can pour wine from his bare hands. It's almost comical how that alone can make Sunday fight any greater force for his lover.

With a grin, Sunday teases Gallagher back with, “Then this Sunday only wants a certain hound to spend for the rest of his life.”

Then the kitchen is filled with Gallaghers laughter and Sunday can feel the vibration deep in his heart. This so-called mundane moment becomes a memory worth remembering in their lifetime to be cherished forever. The grin curls even higher and Sunday can’t help but laugh together with Gallagher.

Holding Sunday’s face in his palms, Gallagher drinks the sight of his lover. Carving his lover’s every crook and crevices into his mind. This is the face of the love of his life. This is his most precious gift of all time.

“Glad to know that.” Both of them standing there in a quiet moment of their domestic relationship, lost in each other’s gaze.

The routine then continues with Gallagher resuming making waffles for him and Sunday, and Sunday pouring hot two hot coffees into their mugs. One with one cub of sugar and splash of milk, one with two cubs of sugar. If you ask Sunday and Gallagher if they ever picture themselves in this very situation, they would probably laugh at it. But here they are, sharing their morning routine, bickering about whether or not they should get a new TV over breakfast, and then brushing their teeth with a toothbrush that is placed side by side.
