Work Text:

As they trudged through the leaf strewn forest, Lucifer taking Alastor by the hand to guide him, there was a definite chill in the air and soon both began to shudder.

“Brrrrrr, I am absolutely free----wow!” Alastor paused mid-complaint as the log cabin – the hideaway that Lucifer had booked especially for them both – came into view at long last. This was the intended destination and the long trek in the cold would soon prove to have been entirely worthwhile. “That looks divine!” He added, his usual smile widening.

“I thought that you would like it.” Lucifer responded, a goofy grin now dominating his own features. “After all, it is classic and timeless – just like you. Now come on inside; I will carry you if you so desire.”

“Oooh, what a gentleman.” Alastor teased, but he did not resist when Lucifer flung him over his shoulder and entered the beautiful building.

It was no ordinary, run of the mill log cabin. This was the crème de la crème; the height of luxury. Lucifer knew that his partner deserved the very best, after all. As Alastor discovered when they crossed the thresh hold together.

Lucifer had painstakingly chosen every last detail to make it as appealing to his life partner as possible; from the old fashioned décor to the romantic touches - such as roses and other pretty petals formed into the shape of love hearts that were dotted around the entirety of the interior. There were also the finest wines – old vintages that happened to be Alastor's favourites - cooling off in the freezer, ready to be tasted. And, judging from the expression on Alastor's face when Lucifer set him down on the plush couch, he had truly succeeded in his quest to impress.

“Ooooh, this is so comfortable. They don't make them like this nowadays. Everything is manufactured in factories, churned out one by one, no loving touches needed. I find them so...so soulless.”

“You sound like such an old man when you speak like that.” Lucifer laughed. “But that is what I love about you.”

“Only that?” Alastor asked, perfectly plucked eyebrow raised.

“No, not just that. But if I were to list everything that I absolutely adore about you then our time here would be brief.” Lucifer said, oozing sincerity.

“I see.” Alastor blushed, deciding not to press the point further. It was evident to all that they were both besotted with the other and compliment fishing was more of an annoyance than a benefit.

“Now then,” Lucifer continued. “If you do not mind, I would like to join you.” He said, gesturing to Alastor's sprawled out form.

“Must I move?” Alastor protested. “This is so cozy.”

“Cozy enough for two, I reckon.” Lucifer countered, before rolling Alastor onto the floor, giggling as he did so.

“Ouch. Was there really a need for that?” Alastor complained.

“Yes.” Lucifer replied immediately. “Now grab my hand and I'll give you a lift.”

“I do not need one.” Alastor grumbled as he stood up, dusting off his suit as he did so.

“Are you truly annoyed with me?” Lucifer asked, genuinely concerned at this point.

“There is a way for that annoyance to disappear, you know.” Alastor answered, voice deadpan. “A bargain to be struck, one could say.”

“And what would that be?” Lucifer asked, unable to discern Alastor's intentions due to his practically permanent smile.

“That you allow me to lay on your lap, of course!” Alastor responded cheerily, taking immense pleasure in Lucifer's reaction.

“Oh!” Lucifer gasped, body suddenly flooded with sheer relief.

“What did you think that I was going to say?” Alastor asked, trying to play innocent.

But Lucifer knew him far too well for that.

“I do not know.” Lucifer answered honestly. “But I was not expecting that.”

“I could tell.” Alastor replied. “However, before we continue, let us get that fire lit, shall we? I am practically frozen right now.”

“Oh, of course!” Lucifer exclaimed, springing into action. He leaped off of the couch in record time, tossing a log onto the fire in one swift, highly complex movement.

“Ahhhh.” Alastor sighed contentedly once the room began to warm up. “That is better. Much better, in fact.” He added, closing his eyes whilst still standing.

“I am glad that you are so taken by my efforts.” Lucifer said, his already bright mood glowing even more so. “However, I implore you to take a seat.”

“The last time I did that, you cruelly removed me from it.” Alastor said, sounding woeful. “I am much too afraid to try again.”

“You of all people should never try to play the victim.” Lucifer mocked as he took his own place on the comfortable couch, patting it gently. “Now sit.”

“Yes, master.” Alastor said, voice laced with sarcasm, yet he did as he was bidden, nonetheless.

“Master, eh? I could most definitely get used to that.” Lucifer chuckled.

“Please don't.” Alastor grimaced. “And what did you mean by your earlier statement anyway?”

“You are a survivor, not a victim. That is all I meant. Nothing malicious, I promise you.” Lucifer said, hoping that he had not accidentally offended him.

“Oh, I see. I like it when you put it like that.....master.” He added with a wink.

“You do know that there is more than one way to warm up here, don't you?” Lucifer asked, pulse now racing, his face turning a lovely shade of beetroot.

“Oh, I thought that you would never ask.” Alastor replied before grabbing Lucifer – the love of his life – and dragging him away from the couch and on to the rug directly beside the fireplace itself. “This seems suitable.” He said, patting it in order to inspect the texture. “It is so soft. Perfect for what I – we – had in mind. Don't you think, my love?”

“Oh, y-yes. D-definitely.” Lucifer said, confidence waning with every breath. He had originally been the dominant one – the one in charge – but the tables had truly turned, so to speak, and he was absolutely flustered by it all.

But then Alastor's lips collided with his and no more conversation was required.
