Work Text:

Jason watched as Leo's curls were ruffled from the wind that blew through camp, smiling as the boy reached up to push the hair out of his face. Unsurprisingly, Leo was rambling about some new invention, using his hands vibrantly.

Usually, Jason made perfect eye contact, but there was something about Leo's other features that had him mesmerized. The slope of his nose, the warm brown of his irises, the way the light shone off his curly brown hair, the point of his ears and the freckles that dotted his cheeks.

They sat at the docks, Leo's feet dipped in the water, splashing absently as he spoke. Jason kept his feet in, his knees pressed to his chest. Water still kind of freaked him out, after all that underwater quest stuff. Seeing the son of Poseidon almost drown really does something to a person.

He didn't mind looking at the water, though, and if the boy in front of him wasn't so entrancing, that's exactly where his gaze would be. Sunshine glittered along the calm waters, clouds reflecting in its rippling surface. It was the perfect setting for Jason to listen to his boyfriend's rambling.

"...like that mechanism I was telling you about, you know what I mean? What's it called?" Leo tapped Jason's shoulder repetitively, trying to remember the name of a word as he snapped his fingers, squeezing his eyes shut. He was adorable.

"Ugh, I have no idea," Leo sighed after a moment of contemplation, "You know what I'm talking about, though, right?"

Truth be told, Jason hadn't heard a single word. He had been far too busy admiring him.

"Yeah, the... the one thing!" He lied, gesturing at Leo.

Leo lit up with recognition, "Yeah! Anyways, so as I was saying..." The boy continued to ramble, and an easy smile found Jason. He was content enough to listen.
