Work Text:

“Hyungie, get up, get up!” Heeseung hears as somebody shakes him awake, his still sleepy eyes slowly fluttering open. His eyes are dry, and they’re still adjusting to the soft rays that are shining through the blinds, his vision somewhat blurry as he sits up in bed. His back aches, his head hurts, and his throat is dry. Who the fuck woke him up so early? It feels like it’s... well, he doesn’t know, but he guesses around 5AM or 6AM. All he knows is that it is too early.

“Heeseungie hyung, get upppp...” The voice whines, and Heeseung immediately recognizes who it is. (There’s just one option, the only other person in his apartment.) Jake Sim, his pretty, lovely, and annoying boyfriend. Of course, why wouldn’t he wake up Heeseung so early? Jake is an early riser, and Heeseung is the complete opposite. He had stayed up til almost 3AM because he was contemplating life, and like, a lot of other things

Jake and Heeseung are really polar opposites. Everyone knows, and some people even go as far as wondering if their relationship will last. (It will. Jake loves Heeseung so much, and Heeseung loves him even more. Jake says that Heeseung doesn’t love him as much as he loves Jake, a shame he doesn’t realize he’s wrong.) Heeseung listens to The Weeknd, Chase Atlantic, Artic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood, that kind of stuff. Jake listens to wave to earth, Laufey, Regina Song, Sabrina Carpenter. (Heeseung doesn’t know some of her songs talk about... those things. He hasn’t bothered to listen to her unless he’s with Jake. He also pays no attention to the lyrics.)

Jake hmphs, plopping onto the bed. Heeseung groans. “The sunrise is so pretty today,” Jake says, pointing at the window. “The birds are chirping, too. And the clouds are pink! Let’s go to the balcony,” Jake exclaims, bouncing on the bed as he spreads his lips to make a wide and beautiful smile. Heeseung is too tired for this. He can barely even see right now.

“‘Yun,” He starts, “it’s way too early for this. Like, way too early.” His voice is hoarse from just waking up, and he rubs his eyes. Jake pouts, shaking his head, his soft locks moving as well, like when a dog shakes their fur. The younger folds his arms, “it is not too early, in fact, this is the perfect time.” Jake frowns. “Please, hyungie? The sky is pink, yellow, orange, all of those cute colors!” Jake attempts to persuade, his eyes silently pleading Heeseung to go look at the sunrise with him.

“No.” Heeseung sees the way Jake seems to shrink at his almost harsh answer, and his expression softens. A defeated sigh leaves his lips as he runs a hand through his extremely messy hair, he squints his eyes, looking at Jake. “... Fine.”

Jake whoops, letting out a soft ‘yay!’ as he hops off the bed, jumping eagerly. “Come on, come on!” Jake squeals, beckoning Heeseung to follow him. Heeseung stays on the bed, breathing out a huff. “Give me a sec,” he mutters as he slowly gets off of the bed, his bare feet hitting the carpet. Jake sulks, but nonetheless, he listens and waits obediently. Heeseung walks to the closet, plucking out a hoodie.

It has Mario on the back, and a small mushroom head on the front, on the left side of the chest. Jake has a matching one, but his has Princess Peach on the back. Jake bought it not too long ago, when he went to this Mario Kart themed café with Sunghoon and Jay. Heeseung didn’t go cause he had to study, and cause he didn’t want to go. He hates talking to Jake’s friends... Or, well, socializing. He hates that. Looking back at it, he feels bad because Jake came home looking down and pouty. He guesses it’s because he wasn’t there, and the other two were probably being all lovey dovey with each other.

He also slips on some socks. His feet are cold.

Jake squeaks when he sees that Heeseung is finished, “yay, yay! C’mon, ‘Seungie.” Jake says, practically bouncing on his toes as he opens the bedroom door and rushes out. Heeseung follows behind, still struggling to keep up, eyes threatening to fall asleep any second. Heeseung watches (he tries to, anyways. He doesn’t have his glasses on and he’s still tired, so he can’t see the best.) as Jake slides the balcony door, his fluffy-socked feet stepping out.

Jake hums, placing his elbows on the railing as he takes in the breathtaking sight. The light pink clouds are moving slowly, and they look so fluffy and soft. The sky is a lovely mix of yellow, orange, and coral. A few birds are flying, chirping away as they flap their feathery wings. “Wah,” Jake lets out, his eyes all wide and shiny as he looks around. Jake wishes they lived close to the beach.

Heeseung thinks the sunrise looks nice, but not nice enough to wake up willingly and watch it. But... for Jake, he is all up for it. Always. Heeseung glances at the sky, cocking an eyebrow at the view before turning his eyes to gaze at Jake, admiring him. His eyelashes are long, his nose is just a perfect slope, and his lips are a soft pink. His hair is blowing gently from the slight breeze, his cheeks tinting a light red. Heeseung shivers.

Jake just looks so amazing.

Jake pulls out his phone, his case decorated in cute little stickers, most of them being from Heeseung himself. Heeseung knows Jake loves stickers. “It looks so pretty,” Jake mutters as he snaps a quick picture. And another. And then another. Heeseung wants to tell him that he looks prettier, that nothing can beat how he looks. You’re so beautiful, ‘Yun. Heeseung thinks to himself, a small smile teasing at the corner of his lips. But before he can say anything, Jake speaks again.

“Just like you, hyung.” Jake compliments, glancing back Heeseung, giggling. “The clouds are pink, just like your lips.” Jake mumbles, poking said part, staring almost intently at them. Heeseung parts his lips.

Heeseung hates how he can never beat Jake to a compliment. How Jake is just so perfect and lovely and just so Jake. Heeseung wishes Jake could see how pretty he really is. He knows Jake doubts himself sometimes, and it breaks his heart.

“Can I kiss you, hyung?” Jake asks softly, looking up at Heeseung for permission, the tips of his fingers resting on his lips. Jake always speaks to gently to Heeseung, treats him so carefully, like he’s afraid he might break him, like he’s fragile. Heeseung sucks in a breath, eyebrows furrowing.

“I guess,” he mumbles shyly.

Jake connects their lips into a tender yet passionate kiss, hands cupping his cheeks as Jake gets on his tiptoes to press their lips together further. Heeseung and Jake flutter their eyes closed at the same time, and Jake tilts his head slightly as he opens his mouth and pokes Heeseung with his tongue, asking him to entrance. Heeseung opens.

When they part, Heeseung is left breathless, and Jake giggles sweetly. “You always get so flustered, Heeseungie.” Jake teases, taking his lower lip between his teeth as he lets his hands trail down to Heeseung’s chest, his sides, and further until he reaches his hands, intertwining their fingers. Jake has such soft hands. Or maybe Heeseung’s are just rough.

“Your breath stinks, by the way.” Jake mutters. Oh.

“Shut the hell up.”

Jake laughs again, and Heeseung flushes sheepishly. Jake just put his tongue in his mouth then decided to tell him that his breath stinks and probably tastes bad afterwards? Is he serious right now?

“Cute.”

Heeseung moves one of his hands and flicks Jake’s forehead, eliciting a quiet ‘ouch!’ from the younger. Jake whines, and then takes one last look at the sunrise. “Thank you,” he says, still focusing on the sunrise, “for coming out here with me. I know it’s too early for you.” Heeseung mumbles a response oh so quietly, and Jake takes it as him saying ‘you’re welcome.’

Heeseung is content with waking up this early everyday for the rest of his life, as long as it’s with Jake.
