Day Four: Bed Rest

This one was not that great - I might come back and edit it at some point - but hopefully you enjoy and have a great day/night!

Work Text:

Okay, Pietro got to admit that breaking his actual leg was stupid but it wasn’t totally his fault. He was meant to do some stunt – which never made it to the final cut anyways – and ended up breaking his leg, which did get used later during the final fight. Their director had ordered Pietro to take a few weeks off until it heals but that’ll take forever.

Okay, it’s more like a day but that feel like forever in speedster time.

Pietro is hanging out in the cast corner and trying to not watch as everyone works on building up the new set. They were moving away from movies and into an actual TV show; it seems promising and people are already hyping it up since there’s going to be more character interactions and story arcs that’s going to happen. Pietro have even seen a few questions if Wanda is going to make an appearance at some point.

Right now, his sister is busy filming with Dr. Strange but then she’s free after that.

“If you keep sighing, I’m going to kick you out of that chair.” Scott glares at him which Pietro just roll his eyes and went back to scrolling on his phone. “Here, how about you get everyone some coffee from that new spot that opened a few months back.” Scott sent a text of everyone’s order. “It’ll give you something to do.”

“Are you kicking me out?”

“Yes,” Scott said; deadpanned.

Pietro grabs his crutches before standing up and making his way out of the studio.

Main Street is filled with actors, directors, and others moving between studios. Pietro struggles a bit against the crowd until he managed to get across the street and into the neighbouring studio. It’s had a set up of an old-style X-Mansion where Charles and Erik are busy helping Kurt, Tommy, and Todd go over their lines.

It’s an TV show set in the past but since most of the actors are older, they had asked a few family members to come help out. Tommy had taken on the role of Pietro – who is going by Peter in the future for reasons yet released to the public – while Alex Summers had agreed to play a younger Scott.

From what Pietro understands, this show is meant to be mostly fun and more for a teenage/child showing then the up coming X-Men show which is being aimed at adults.

“Uncle Pietro!” Tommy said while waving at him. “What brings you here?”

“I was kicked out,” Pietro said.

“I couldn’t imagine why,” Erik counters. “How is your leg doing?”

Pietro shrugs; “it should be healed by tomorrow.”

They are the same as their characters on screen but fans can still tell that there some kind of wall between them. Specially whenever Wanda joins them for interviews. It mostly has to due with the fact that Erik and their mom got divorced back before Pietro and Wanda were born so they only see Erik every other weekend. Kinda difficult to build a relationship that way but they made it work, for the most part.

“Anyways, I’m heading to that new coffee shop, do you want to come with?” Pietro ask Tommy, who already gone to get his jacket. “Send your order, I’ll get you guys something.”

There’s a ding from his phone which he hands over to his nephew while making their way out of the studio once more.

“Shouldn’t you be on bed rest or something?” Tommy question.

The two had made it to the sister location which so happened to be just as busy as they are. Pietro heard the news about Young Justice along with a few new seasons for the older shows. Which means that there won’t be as much family meals between families until winter comes back round.

“I should be but you know me.” Pietro ruffles his nephew’s hair, which almost caused him to fall over. “Anyways, how filming going? The first episode should be releasing here soon.”

It’s pretty exciting that another Maximoff is joining the family business. Billy was the only one that wasn’t keen on it and had opted for focusing on his studies instead, much like his father that one. Tommy, however, is too similar to Pietro and needs something to focus on; acting, building, and a couple of other hobbies became that.

Wanda admits that being part of a show is better than Pietro’s ‘hobby’.

He does admit that stealing wasn’t the great thing but it made his character cool when he decided to join the family business.

“I don’t know…” Tommy trails off; stepping closer when the crowds started becoming dense. “I like working with everyone but I don’t know if anyone likes me, you know?”

That’s something Pietro does understand.

“Completely understandable,” Pietro said. “When Wanda and I were younger, we were on set a lot during the weekends with your grandfather. I wasn’t exactly easy to get along with while Wanda was picture prefect child that could do no wrong.”

It only made him feel worst when he met his half-sister Nina during the filming of their latest movie. He adores her but she was much like Wanda when they were kids. Kind, polite, and always sitting quietly by herself while the adults work away. Pietro had also notice it whenever Wanda brings Billy and Tommy around; seeing himself in his nephew hurts more than he likes to admit.

“Anyways, I got over after a while…with some help”

The only reason he got over it was because he had met Barry and ended working on interviews with him. People enjoyed watching them interact which caused the two to hang out more often than before. Barry had the same worried as he did and told him how he had worked through it. Mostly because of his (at the time) boyfriend and his friends.

“You mean Uncle Barry, right?”

“Yep.”

Tommy went ahead of him to open the door to the coffee shop that Scott was talking about. There’s something off about it though. The place doesn’t stick out to much but Pietro quickly notice Captain Cold and Heatwave working behind the counter with Wally at the cash and playing on his phone.

“Hey, Wally!” Tommy had sped over to the counter, accidently hitting the tip jar. “Uh, sorry about that.”

Wally waves it off while pocketing his phone away; “don’t worry about it, Tom. How are you guys doing?”

“Alright.” Tommy shrugs before taking Pietro’s phone to show the text to Wally. “Think you can make all of this?”

Wally takes the phone, glancing over the orders. “Only if you don’t mind cameoing in a scene coming up.” He hands the phone over to Captain Cold with a promise that Pietro will get it back.

“When that’s?”

Pietro question got answered right away when Barry – as the Flash – came walking into the café with Cisco and Caitlin following closely behind. The scene is clearly out of context but from what Pietro understand, they are dealing with Gorilla Grodd and his army for the last couple of months. It seems that they might have a way to end the fight for once and for all.

“Sounds way more fun than the scenes we’re working on,” Tommy whisper.

Pietro hums in agreement but had already slip into his acting role of background extra. A very good talent to have, according to their director. Only Pietro had gotten that compliment but that’s just because Pietro have been working on it since he was a kid.

“Here’s your order,” Wally said once the scene ended.

Pietro and Tommy give their thanks before leaving the café and making their way back to their studio. Though, his mind keeps slipping back to what happened; he’s sure it’s nothing.
