Work Text:

"Youre inviting me to a Christmas party?" Sirius looked at the invite he'd been sent over text, a huge group chat between other people he's never had the chance to name before. Only two contacts in the group were close friends.

"Yeah, since you're usually all alone. I decided to invite you too, my girl will be there so you don't gotta worry about feeling awkward!" Sirius groaned when his friend pulled him into a tight side hug. "Dude, I won't socialize... you just want me to suffer, Nick. That's all you do to me ever since I met you." Nick rolled his eyes and huffed.

"You're too dramatic. Don't worry, Spynx will be able to get you to kiss someone by the end of the night under the mistletoe." Sirius stuck his tongue out in disgust, quickly shaking his head at the idea. "I'd rather choke on my own spit. Why would I kiss someone I don't even know?"

"Don't worry, you know them really well." Sirius didn't like the look Nick gave him, much the less the tone that be said it in that implied his friend knew something he didn't.

The party was on December twenty second. A Sunday where everyone could come party before the Christmas break started and they were off of daily classes.

The party started at nine in the night, and went on for as long as people wanted.

Sirius got there at ten, having walked around for an hour to expel most of his nerves and jitters before entering the apartment for the party. The smell of alcohol, sweets, and people hit him instantly. He grimaced at the mixed smells, glancing around and finding a set of white hair on the couch agaisnt the wall. Sirius walked over, avoiding touching anyone as he took a seat beside the white haired girl.

"What did you bring?" Sirius glanced down at his hands, a neatly wrapped box rested on his palms. "A small present, for you, I'm giving Nick his tomorrow at the Cafe." He handed the box over, smiling when the girl offered a gentle smile.

"Don't be scared, you can sit around with me for the night if you'd like. Seeing as I can't... well see." Sirius snorted at the half assed joke, getting an even wider smile from the girl. "Spynx, you've really got to learn to make better jokes about you being blind. Some get too old!" With a sigh, Sirius earned a punch on his shoulder.

"Ow, how come you hit so hard!" He cried out as he rubbed his shoulder. She only smirked, patting him on the back before leaning back agaisnt the couch. "I don't, you're just a big baby Sirius."

The party went on for a long time. Hours passed by and he chatted along with Spynx, was offered a drink and he decided to take it. He could smell the strong alcohol mixed with a sweet kind of berry, the liquid was a bright red, and a candy cane hung from the rim of the cup. "Thank god you can't see these cups, they look depressing." He earned a small chuckle from the other.

Sirius was in his very early twenties. And has barely gone to any parties, much less any that went deep into the night like this one. But with his friend inviting him and the sweet offer of Spynx being here he decided to agree for the first time.

With that being said, he didn't agree to being hauled off the couch and onto his feet, pushed into the crowd of people that had conjured near a doorway. A glance back at Spynx on the couch he watched her grin and wave goodbye.

"Come on man, I've got a surprise!" Nick held onto his arm, pulling him through the small grouped crowd and to the front. Sirius suddenly felt too exposed, afraid, like a wild animal on display.

"Hey what are-" Before another word could come out, he was thrown forward and into the open. He stumbled, catching his footing and righting himself again.

There was whispers all around and Sirius was very much aware of the fact he was in the middle of the half circle the party had made around the doorway.

"Hey! What the hell!" There was a part in the crowd and someone else was thrown in. Sirius panicked, catching the other person from actually falling onto their face.

Looking up he could see Spynx giving him a wink before pointing up. The other person in his hands got up, righting themselves and looking slightly down to face Sirius. Oh.

Oh. No.

Slowly. Sirius looked up, and right above him hung a mistletoe.

The mistletoe.

"What the fuck." Sirius knew that the reaction was valid because his mind was screaming at him. And suddenly he could feel every point of contact he was making with the other man, his hands rested on the others biceps, subconsciously tightening his grip. Hands were on his sides, and he swallowed down every thought he had coming to the front of his mind.

His face warmed when the other looked down back at him, black eyes staring right into his own.

"Come on! It's a mistletoe! You've got to kiss!!" Sirius promised himself to kill Nick as soon as this party was over. Spynx could be... forgiven he guessed.

The head tilt the other man did had Sirius suppressing a coo.

"We can get this over with...?" Sirius gave a hesitant nod. A hand abandoned his side and gently pressed against his cheek. A thumb rubbed against his cheek, and he would never admit leaning into the touch. For what few seconds passed, it felt like hours to him, he internalized every little touch, every feature he saw in the others eyes and face. The very faint freckles scattered across the bridge of his nose.

Sirius let his head tilt, their faces neared and he forced his eyes closed as their lips met.

His stomach squirmed with butterflies and he pressed just the tiniest bit into the kiss, the hand cupping the side of his face ran farther back, fingers hidden in his messy hair. His shoulders released tension he's felt all night, and as he pressed into the kiss he could feel the other pull back before pushing back in.

As fast as it happened. The kiss ended.

Sirius felt delirious when they parted, his lips tingled and he could feel his entire being jitter.

"Wooo! Hell yeah!"

"Me next! Who wants to go with me!"

Sirius let his hands fall and he cleared his throat, looking away and lowering his head. "Sorry for getting you dragged into this, this was my friends fault." Sirius felt the sweet mood turn sour for him, his warm cheeks burned and he stopped any tears before they could form.

"Hey don't worry about it, wasn't planning on doing much either way tonight." Sirius glanced up, finding a soft smile on the other man's face.

He knew this man. He's told Nick and Spynx a lot about him, and the way Sirius swooned for him every time they sat together for an hour long lecture in a shared class.

"You want to hang out the rest of the night? I came alone so I don't have anyone I know here, but you're a familiar face." Sirius felt the warmth come back, he nodded and smiled. A hand grabbed his and his stomach boiled with butterflies.

"You want to get out of this place? We can go for a walk around I'd you'd like." Sirius could feel his heart hammered against his chest and he thought he'd be having a best attack with the happiness coursing through him.

"Yeah, I don't mind."
