Work Text:

Your POV

It was your first day at a new school. You were introduced to your new classmates in your class. At break and lunch, you talked and hung out with them. Surprisingly for you, you quickly made friends with them. Three of your best friends are Kesha, Sadie, and Jane. At the same time, the boys teased you and the girls from morning to evening. You and the girls paid them back with even more insults. It was ironically fun.

Few days later, you were sitting in history class, waiting for the teacher to come up to the desk. Suddenly, you heard someone whispering to you in a rich, baritone voice, “I got a surprise for you, and you have to find it out.”

You were utterly shocked by it. Even more frustrating, you had no idea where it came from. While you were still wondering who might have muttered, your history teacher asked for all of your attention. The chatters between your classmates were silenced down. After everyone looked up to the teacher, he began to speak up. The first thing he talked about was about childhood. The way your teacher talked was lighthearted, and your mind sure could point out the favorite moments of your childhood. Everyone giggled throughout the whole talk.

But as time went on, the teacher shifted from childish fun to the seriousness of adulthood. Your face turned grimmer as he began to talk more lethargically. Bored, your eyes skimmed through the pages of the history textbook. As you fell to the depth of the alternate universe, your teacher began to warn all of you that you would be falling in love with each other. The students, except for you, reacted with total contempt of possible romance whatsoever. Again, the teacher told us all that it could really happen. In an instant, everyone, but you, went crazy and started to run away from school, leaving you all alone without knowing it.

You were so calm that you didn’t realize that others were gone. It took you minutes until you found out that they were really gone. You were sad, but managed to hold up your restless tears. You were forsaken by even your own friends, and yet optimism was still burning like a torch in your heart. You knew you must not give up on them. You had to follow them.

When your feet stepped to the concrete pavement outside the campus, you saw a brand new motorbike. Even though you never rode on a motorbike before, you decided to give it a try, despite the risks. In seconds, you were off to find them.

Following them though wasn’t always easy. There were a series of obstacles along your way like harsh gales, hot and arid plains, city traffics, blizzards, and many more. They could have worn out your perseverance, but the same mutterings you heard earlier today was the reason you want to carry on your search. At times of hardships, the words cooed at your ears like a gentle breeze.

Few hours later, you began to see a beach. You could hear the merry sounds by the end of the beach, and you inferred that the voices might be of your very friends. Ecstatic of this possibility, you ran as fast you could. But even before you ran a mile, there was a huge tree that fell in front of your melancholic eyes. You felt disappointed, and for a second, you thought you would never get to meet your friends again. However, little did you know that there were five hollow-like caves bored onto the dead tree. Rejuvenated by the chance, you peeked through the first one. There were many people dancing happily without a single care of the desperate world. You did the same thing with the other holes, and they progressively shrank. So you went through the first cavern. After going through it, you looked back, and all realms, except the beach, vanished like vapor in the air. There was no going back after this.

You also witnessed something you never knew could be possible. All of your friends and classmates already had boyfriends or girlfriends to hang out with. They seemed to be more than just what shallow romances were, and they were still in high school. To make it worse, you didn’t have a boyfriend. You tried your best to grab your friends’ attention, but they wouldn’t budge in. In this moment, you thought that nobody would ever listen to your sentimental mumblings. You were tempted to cry, but the fear of embarrassment took the best of you. You then ran to a secluded part of the beach and isolated yourself from the others. You watched the festive party still going good from afar, and you quietly burst in tears as shooting stars landscaped the night canvas.

Questions were running in your still denying mind. You ponder as you tried to stop sobbing by looking at the sky, ‘Why did they leave you all alone? Are they like the stars that get to play, and you the lonely, dark night? Will they ever tell you the reason why they leave you?’ And there was little to change for now. You got tired from contemplating on your forlorn life, and you knew that it was best to set it aside for now. Not long, you yawned and slept by the lonesome coconut tree.

V’s POV

It had been a fun party so far. We played different games like Spinning the Bottle, Truth or Dare, Twister, and many others. And also that my friends seemed to be romantically acquainted with the girls. Rap Mon hyung was giving Kesha hickeys, which she unexpectedly enjoyed. Hobi hyung and Sadie were dancing to the beat of the jukebox. Suga hyung was cuddling with Jane. I forgot about the others, but overall, they all seemed to be flirting the night away.

It was actually my idea to throw a surprise party, but I felt that something was missing. I felt that there must be someone waiting for me. She must be sad as well being all alone. The problem was that she was not here with us. I felt even more lonely, even though I had friends here that could comfort me. They seemed to be fixated towards their partners that they didn’t know that I was about to leave this beautiful place.

I searched for hours for that “special someone.” I knew that she must be somewhere at the beach, but I had no clue where her exact location was. And it was not until midnight until my eyes gleamed upon the stars that created the silhouette of a girl sleeping by the palm tree. I took a step closer, and strangely enough, my heart wasn’t dampened by my sadness, but instead rekindled by joy. Desire and passion also bloomed in my heart like flowers after winter. Her serene appearance gave me the impression of tranquility that made me forget what was happening in the party. I gingerly held her cold cheeks and put her head on my lap. She was just too captivating, and I just couldn’t take my eyes off her. From this moment, I knew that she was and is indeed my soulmate.

Your POV

The afternoon sun was glaring at your closed eyes with no mercy. It was so bright that you were forced to open your (E/C) orbs. The moment you tried to find a shade, you were startled by the fact that there was a boy with you. He was not the ordinary boy you met everyday, and you knew that there must be a hint of peculiarity from this handsome lad. His very presence raised your curiosity level, and unable to hold back your feelings for this young man, you asked him, “Why are you here? Is there something that made you come here?”

“I’m here for...a...you know,” he answered as he lightly giggled, “And by the way, I’m Tae Hyung. You can call me V oppa. What’s yours?”

“I’m (Y/N),” you answered, “and wait, you mean ‘surprise?’” you added some words to his sentence.

“Hey, you are ruining my plan!” V oppa shouted and laughed at the same time. He attacked you with furious tickles on your belly. You found it hard to be in control and to hold your uncontained laughter. You attempted to tickle him back, but his fingers aggressively teased your skin once more.

“What, you have plans for me!?” you said upon pure disbelief. You wouldn’t believe that someone was actually here just for you. You were always the flower on the wall, despite having friends. While all of your friends are confident, you always feel awkward when the boys show up. Now that someone approached you with beaming confidence, you were twice as awkward as before. You tried your best to stay calm, but excitement seemed to freeze you.

“For real,” V answered as his rectangular smile receded, “and I have a story to tell you.”

You were confused by this, but who knew. He might have a situation similar to yours, “Then what is it?”

He then said with his soulful voice, “I actually had the same feeling as you did. Last night, I was at a party. All of my friends were focused on their girlfriends. The rest didn’t seem to care about me. So I went outside, and not long, I found you, sleeping here.”

You were shocked and amazed at the same time. How could a guy know that you need his affection? Is it psychic or what else? “I couldn’t believe you...,” you stammered and tried to finish your sentence, but it failed.

“Did you see the light last night?” he asked you. You nodded. “That light was the party I was in before I met you. Even though it was merry, my heart feels merrier when you are with me.”

“So…,” you still weighed down whether V was telling the truth, but he abruptly grabbed your right arm, and you two began to run up to the shallow waves. And the next thing you knew, he put a flower between the strands of your (H/C) hair. At that same moment, your eyes aimed sharply at his attractive face. While you held his lovely cheeks, you felt his jaws forming his signature smile. His arms scarfed around your neck, hugging you. You were completely hypnotized by his aura. His reactions to you were also exactly the same.

You only wanted a friend, but you never expected for you to fall in love with a boy. You did what you feel is wrong, yet you cannot resist it. And you ask yourself: Are you really in love, or are you in lust?

But the brief romantic moment was broken when he playfully splashed huge amounts of water onto you. Not wanting to lose, you sloshed water back to him. You two have another few rounds of play fighting until you both realized that evening would soon come. Lights from afar were kindled by the time the sky got a shade darker by each minute.

You still enjoyed the dusky atmosphere as the sun drowned itself to the depths of the mysterious oceans. You were enthralled by the emerging golden and silver stars up above. However, your peace was disturbed with one touch of your sensitive shoulder. You took a glance back, and it was V, grinning at you.

He again asked, “Would you go to the party with me?”

Although you didn’t have any words to speak, you knew that it was a great idea to go with him. You gave him a beautiful smile as the music began to fill the night air.
