    Gotham is a city of opportunity for some, and a city corrupted by past sins for most.

    Both seems to be true for you during your sudden release from Arkham Asylum, in which the circumstances of said release are just as strange as your incarceration. Both remains true for a certain Jonathan Crane as well, whose academic interests have recently begun to take a darker turn behind the closed doors of his laboratory.

    In attempt to rise above the situation, you find yourself going back to where it all started; your apartment, as well as your former place of employment at Gotham University... both of which happen to have Jonathan Crane involved.
