Jimmy cracks an eye open.
He feels so warm, and the most rested he has felt in years.
The avian's ears pick up a purring noise coming from in front of him.
He sees Tango asleep in his arms, a smile on his sleeping face, and a deep purr coming from his chest.
Jimmy presses a kiss to his forehead, before he closes his eyes, soaking up the warmth from the nether born in his arms.
He lays there for a blissful few seconds before his eyes snap open.
He shouts from surprise and his wings snap back, hitting the wall.
With nowhere else to go, Jimmy's canary wings push him out of his nest and onto the floor, Tango and all.
The avian lands chest down atop his roommate.
Tango looks up at him with confusion, and red cheeks.
A few sparks come from his hair after it caught fire for a second when Jimmy scared him.
Jimmy's cheeks flush, realizing their position.
"Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!" Jimmy says, quickly getting off his roommate.
Tango sits up so they are face to face.
"Why did you knock me on the floor Rancher?" Tango asks, the blush on his cheeks lessening.
"You surprised me." Jimmy responds, "these things also have a mind of their own." he says, gesturing to his big canary wings, drooped behind him, "why were you in my bed?"
Confusion crosses Tango's face, "you don't remember?"
"Remember what?"
"Last night you asked me to help you preen your wings, and then...you would not let me go." Tango says.
Jimmy's cheeks go impossibly redder.
The event of the night before flash through his mind.
Tango preening his wings.
The amazing feeling of warm hands in his wings, preening them, fixing his feathers.
The bird like vocalizations.
Him grabbing Tango's wrist, and begging for snuggles.
Him confessing his love for he blaze hybrid in a sleepy mumble.
"Oh gods." Jimmy mutters.
"I'm so sorry for last nigh-" Jimmy starts.
"Did you mean what you said last night?" Tango asks, cutting the avian off. Jimmy sees something his his red eyes, that he can't decipher.
The avian blinks at the netherborn.
"Yes." he says, closing his eyes, not wanting to meet Tango's.
The avian waits for him to get mad, to kick him out, for the blazeborn to demand a room change-
Something pressing against his lips startles Jimmy.
Jimmy opens his eyes to see Tango in front of him, lips on his.
When they pull away Tango giggles, happily, "I love you too, my Rancher."
