Discord shrunk to the size of a teddy bear, climbed onto Fluttershy's bed, leaning beside her, and asks,
“Futtershy, my dear, how do you feel?”
“I'm feeling well.” Fluttershy smiles.
“So glad to hear that.” He replies with the same soft smile.
The sun is half down, golden color spreading in the room.
“How was everyone doing today?”
“Everyone's doing well! Well, Pinkie Pie is just regular Pinkie Pie, you know what she's like.” Discord chuckles a little, “Hmm, let's see‐ah, our beloved princess Twilight found a whole new concept of magic, but I haven't met her in a while now. As you know, the Princess of bookworms tends to bury herself in the library.” He chuckled at the mental image with Twilight being a literal princess of bookworms’.
“Sweet Apple Acres is busy planting new trees. With those foals' help, they will be heading another bumper harvest! Oh, by the way, they truly are one of the funniest little creatures. I must say, AppleJack did a wonderful job of help raising her grandchildren. Seriously, Fluttershy, why couldn't I keep at least one of the children? I'd be a fun big brother and you'd be a grandmother who's even better than AppleJack.”
Fluttershy chuckles wryly,
“Discord, I told you foals aren't toys, and you're way older than me, you'd be their great great great-Celestia knows how many more-great grandfather.”
“I wasn't planning on turning them into remote control cars!”
She raised an eyebrow.
He cleared his throat,
“Anyway, Rarity's fashion brand is just like the usual, ponies were fighting over for the newest design, although I never understood her taste. yeah, yeah, gorgeous as she'd phrase it, but it's so dull! What's the fun when you put colors and materials in a harmony.” He made a face of contempt half jokingly.
Fluttershy chuckles, “but the wedding dress she made you was pretty, wasn't it?”
“Well, yes, but that was because I'm pretty.” He tossed the air around his neck as if there were any hair.
She giggles again,“Yes, you are.” Then asks,
“I wonder where our wedding dresses go?”
“I thought Harry's cubs took them, for playing house I assume?”
“Oh, right! I remember now. Oh, Discord, be nice, they didn't take them, I gave it to them, and you agreed.” her voice is getting quieter.
“Oh, it's the same thing.” He waves his talon airily.
Fluttershy giggled softly, feels her eyelids is getting heavier, it looks like she'll fall asleep any second.
“......Rainbow Dash is still traveling around the world after her retirement, or adventuring as she'd call it.”Discord continues,
“Oh, but nowhere she's heading is where we haven't been before.
She's currently at the desert we went several years ago, where I show you the dancing stars, do you still remember that, dear?”
“I do, it was really beautiful.” She giggled as she remembered the colorful stars dancing around them, “and fun.”
“Yes, and fun.” Discord smiles warmly.
A few minutes of comfort silence, Fluttershy speaks again, with her eyes almost closed,
"Discord, do you remember when I was young-""Oh, you're still very young, Fluttershy."
Fluttershy giggled,"from your standard, yes. But no, do you remember, when I was a young mare, whenever I got upset, and I mean really really upset, you'd shrink to just the same size as you are now, and let me cuddle you like you were a plush?” Discord chuckled softly, “how can I forget! You'd squeeze me with the strength which I know was your full force.”
“I even thought I could be crushed by your forearms.”
His tone is gentle, expression is very soft.
—
“....Discord?”
“Yes, dear?”
It was cold during the winter mid night, the winds almost sounded like it was weeping with her.
“.....Am I- did I-” She was struggling with her words, Didn't know how to phrase how she felt at the time.
Discord stayed quiet, decided to let her take her time, pressing his head on her shoulder.
“This is a silly question.” She took a deep breath, “will you still stay with me, even when every creature hates me?” She whispered.
He frowned,
“Who makes you think that every-” She looked into Discord's eyes with watering eyes.
He went quiet for a second.
—
“Discord?”
“Yes, dear?”
The warm golden ray shines into the dim room, they're both staring at the sunset.
“Will it be dark when I get there?”
“......”
“Will it be cold?”
“......”
“.......Will I be alone?”
“.......”
“.......”
He took a deep breath.
–
“.......Fluttershy, my dear, dearest Fluttershy,
You know I will always, always come rush to your side, even if it means I have to tear the whole universe apart to find you.
This fact will never change.”
He said firmly yet gently.
–
He said softly and mournfully.
She smiled, very very weakly.
“Yes, I know.”
He holds her close, resting his head against her shoulder.
They stay quiet for a while, just listening to each other's heartbeat, the sky is getting darker and darker as the rhythm in her goes weaker and weaker.
When the sun is fully sunk, he chokes out a quiet sob as the beat of his dearest fully stopped.
—
—
He chuckled again, “Not to mention, with this deadly hold of yours, I hardly can go anywhere else.” He joked lightheartedly.
She giggled, “I wasn't hugging that hard!” and gave a gentle squeeze.
“Ow, ow! Oh no! I think you just broke my spine!”
They laughed, pressed their forehead together, as the light of the dawn painted another ephemeral moment of their life.
