The sight before him, even though he’d been bracing for it, takes his breath away.
A small child, no older than five, peeks out from his hiding spot with wide green eyes. The boy is huddled into a tight ball, the sight of him curled up in such a confined space is heart-wrenching.
There’s a hazy quality to his gaze. Drugged, but still terrified. Fighting the demands of unconsciousness.
“Shouta,” Hizashi breathes, his voice catching as he fights to steady his racing heart.
“Hello, Izuku,” Shouta says softly, kneeling down beside Hizashi.

Midoriya Izuku feels like he's weathering a storm that just won't pass. But he's holding it together, with sheer determination and what feels like three rolls of duct tape.
It's fine. He's fine.
He's not fine.
