Work Text:
A soft sound of whining reaches Sky’s ears and he closes his eyes. He counts to five, very slowly, while steeling his willpower. He can do this. The less he rewards this behaviour the less it’ll happen. He has read the articles. Punishments would’ve been the easy way out, Sky is quite good at administering them as well, but in the long run they didn’t work.
However, he makes a grave mistake as he whips his head around at the new set of pitiful whines. Big brown eyes look up at him. They only seem to get rounder and more pleading as they lock in his. Another whine. Another time that his resolve crumbles.
“We’ve talked about this,” Sky sighs but is already turning in his chair.
“I can’t give you my undivided attention all of the time.”
Another whine and a tilt of the head and Sky hears how his whole self crumbles and yields in front of this too strong of a weapon.
“You’re impossible Sunny, I know you’re just a pup but it’s not like I am away,” Sky sighs again but bends down to pick up the little cavalier puppy.
The little paws kick in excitement and Sky can feel the turbulence her tail makes as she wags it so hard Sky is afraid it might fall off. When he cradles the little princess to his chest she even jumps up a little just to plant little kisses on his jaw.
It is only the third week Sunny is with him, so perhaps he shouldn’t be too harsh on the little pup. He was sure she’d learn in time. And hey, Sky for sure did not complain about all the pupper cuddles he’d be getting while Prapai was away for a business trips. Not one bit.

A few more weeks pass and Sunny gets more and more confident in her new home. So much so that it has become Sky’s full time job to keep teaching the temperamental girl all the rules of the house.
“Sunny, no,” Sky says while lifting the puppy away from the flower pots for the nth time that day.
“Listen young lady.” Sky’s voice takes a stern tone but there is no anger or frustration in it somehow. “These are not for digging or getting your little nose dirty. These are the homes of pa’s plants.”
The cavalier tilts her head and looks at the pots. It is clear she wants to get her pretty paws in and dig the flowers up. Who knew such a pretty dog would love to get itself dirty? That is where the issue lies too. Sky would have no problem with Sunny being in the vicinity of the flower pots but her inclination to also get in them rather than observe them kindly made it impossible. He literally couldn’t leave her unattended with the pots.
Then the door opens, Sunny gives out little excited barks and runs to the man coming in. Sky can only sigh and shake his head lovingly as he gets up too to greet the newcomer. Prapai is busy kneeling down to pet Sunny and coo at her. The sight warms up Sky’s heart.
“P’Pai, you should take your shoes off and wash your hands before you greet her,” Sky scolds softly.
“But she’s so happy just to see me, how can I not fall for her charms? Reminds me of someone else,” Prapai says, still speaking in his puppy tone before finally gets up and smiles at Sky.
“Mmh, go wash your hands,” Sky says and doesn’t think twice about how there’s two heads tilting slightly to the right, watching him with big brown eyes as he walks back over to his desk to continue working on an assignment.
-
“I don’t get it, I keep trying this positive reinforcement on her but it seems like only scolding her gets her attention.”
Sky finds himself complaining a few months after Sunny came to his life. Rain takes his bubble tea across him and gives a templative sip. It’s not like Sky expects Rain to know a single thing about raising a pup. He knows his best friend has his hands full raising himself.
“Should you hire a dog trainer?” he asks as he puts down his cup.
“I don’t like the idea of that. I’d rather train her myself so she learns to listen to me,” Sky sighs, swishing his own boba around.
Looking outside of the window of the garage shop he spots Prapai and Phayu. They’ve been working on Prapai’s bike for the better half of an hour. Sunny is naturally outside with them, glued to Prapai’s side as the man goes fetching around equipment Phayu might need. Sky finds his eagerness to learn more about bikes adorable.
As he watches Prapai run around and tilt his head at directions, something finally hits Sky. His mouth hangs open as he watches both Prapai and Sunny tilt their heads in sync before bolting to the other side of the garage to get tools. Prapai even gives a wrench for Sunny to carry.
-
To test his theory Sky asks Prapai to help with his assignment once again. Sure, he is running late and the extra hands are needed, but the ultimate goal is to see if he is right. If his little adorable puppy has learnt her ways from his big adorable puppy.
He keeps giving tiny affirmations to Prapai whenever his boyfriend keeps his focus on the work and not in trying to distract him. But alas, Prapai doesn’t stop flirting and trying to steal kisses. Not until Sky sighs and gives him the look.
”P’Pai,” he says sternly. “I need this project done by the weekend. We don’t have time to slack!”
A true sight awaits him as two puppies tilt their heads. And it is when Prapai yields, promising to wait until bed for his sweet talk. Seems like he has two puppies to train.
