I'd kill for him to not have a violent end (please make it painless)

Summary:

How Jotaro feels after Kakyoin's death.

Work Text:

Jotaro Kujo was fortunate enough to be born into a family like the Joestars. Putting his blood-father aside, he was raised pampered by affection and love, maybe a little too much. Holly, Joseph, Suzie—all did their best with the hopes that their beloved newest member of the family wouldn’t have to face the bitter reality of the world they live in, of the curse that their lineage has to face.

He may be going through severe rounds of puberty, making him completely unapproachable. But really, it doesn’t mean that he cares about his family any less. When Holly went ill as an effect of a stand, Jotaro was quick to get on his feet to find her cure. He travelled through Egypt, accompanied by Joseph, Avdol, Polnareff, and Kakyoin

Oh Kakyoin. Sweet, dear Kakyoin

Kakyoin who sacrificed his life for the sake of finding Holly’s cure. Kakyoin who always puts others before himself. Kakyoin who sees Jotaro as who he truly is. Kakyoin, Kakyoin, Kakyoin

Kakyoin who died in the hands of Jotaro’s mortal enemy.

Hell with all these shits and stands. If he could, Jotaro would send all of these stands to the lowest pit of hell if it meant that he could see Kakyoin once again. Yes, all that just for him to be able to catch a slight glimpse of his late beloved. Call him a coward, a wuss, an idiot . Do it to your heart’s content. No, not you, reader. This is directed towards his dear Kakyoin.

You’re an idiot —“ Jotaro remembers all too well. The way the scorching sun shone on top of both of their heads, where suddenly the loud world was suddenly silent. Kakyoin’s laugh echoed through his head, unconsciously implanting itself on his heart. “— a big one at that! ”

Jotaro was never the type to believe in god. He simply didn’t care and never bothered himself enough to care. But if he were to worship a god.. that wouldn’t be Buddha or Amaterasu. Correct, reader. The god that Jotaro worships would be Noriaki Kakyoin. How could he not? A second after hearing Kakyoin’s laugh alone could gather hundreds of thousands of believers. But no, that wasn’t what Jotaro wanted. He doesn’t want Kakyoin to be some sort of public enjoyment. He wants Kakyoin all to himself, for him to be in the grasp of his own hands. For him to be able to call Kakyoin his and his alone.

To hell with everything! He wants to make Romeo jealous by holding Kakyoin’s hands and letting the tenderness of it consume him. He wants every dead lovers of the world to hear his laughter and rise from their graves out of sadness. He wants the breath of both of their passions to stir their dust into consciousness, to wake their rotten body only to face more pain.

Even the world envied what they had. Even the world took away someone that Jotaro had clinged onto the hardest.

It would be no more than a spiteful lie if we were to say that Kakyoin’s death took no toll on Jotaro. Poor Jotaro, it was the first time in his life of seventeen summers, all were nothing compared to the fifty days he spent in Egypt, where he had become as cheerful as that–in his standards, at least–yet it was no more than a fleeting moment of bliss.

For so long, Jotaro had bitten the tip of his tongue to refrain clumsy words from slipping out of his mouth. Maybe, way too long. In truth, Jotaro had sworn to himself; if he was in the position to say, he was sure–perhaps too sure, that Kakyoin would be the one, and only one that’s able to make him happy. He would’ve been on his knees and has always been ready to dedicate the rest of his life to Kakyoin. He would’ve stood on the altar holding Kakyoin’s hands tenderly–the only person who gets to see this side of Jotaro. If only, if only Kakyoin stuck around. But he knew that such a matter was impossible. He can’t. Jotaro had no right to promise anything to Kakyoin.

It is far too late to say that, though. Jotaro had promised Kakyoin far too much to even count with his fingers alone.

Because no matter how tight he held onto Kakyoin, destiny would still take him away from him. Despite knowing that, Jotaro’s urge to stay by his side never falters. It won’t ever fade. Will they meet again? Will Jotaro ever get a glimpse of Kakyoin again? Just like the instant falls of snowflakes in the middle of winter, a moment of radiance was bestowed on Jotaro the moment Kakyoin took a step into his life.

Jotaro shall hold a grudge to Kakyoin! That he should cast a group of dark clouds over his grave; that Jotaro, with bitter reproaches, should cast pangs of anguish on Kakyoin’s rotten corpse, wound it with secret remorse and force it to droop in anguish; that he would crush even those delicate flowers that are placed carefully right beside his grave, stomping on it until its appearance is unrecognisable… oh, never, not even in a million decades! Jotaro wishes for nothing but for the skies that shone on top of Kakyoin's final resting place to only ever be clear, may his sweet smile–one that Jotaro had always loved, one that’s carved on the deepest part of his heart–to always be bright and serene, may Kakyoin be blessed as he rests in solitude for the slight moment of bliss that he granted for a lonely, grateful heart such as Jotaro Kujo’s.

Yet, such a shame. Jotaro now had to remember Kakyoin longer than he had known him.

Someday for sure, Jotaro will wilt. His memories will start to fade: the appearance of Kakyoin’s face, the tender look on his eyes, the sincerity in his voice, even the length of his hair and the warm touch of his fingertips—he will eventually forget. But one thing for sure, something that he swore to his life that he’ll remember even if he was lying on his deathbed was only,

How he loved Kakyoin dearly.
