Work Text:
Vi dropped the fisted glass back on the bar top, wincing as the familiar burn worked down her throat. It had been six hours since the incident at the commune, five hours since Jinx disappeared again, four hours since they arrived back in Piltover, three since she got cleaned and stitched up while she watched Maddie rush up and embrace Caitlyn outside in the hallway, two since Cait told her what was going on with her and Maddie, and one hour ago she landed in this bar. By now the bartender had made the wise decision to leave the bottle for her.
Though she’d much rather pull directly from the source, she knew that sort of behavior was frowned upon in Piltover. So she refills her glass.
Fine. Cait prefers to drown in women.
Vi can get that, she guesses.
She put the bottle down and finishes off the fresh pour clenched tightly in her fist. She had turned to her own vices, wallowing in alcohol and fights instead of sex. She had never been the physical type outside of beating the shit out of whoever tried to get funny. She can’t exactly blame Caitlyn, they hadn’t even talked about what they were. She had never cared about someone before like she did for Caitlyn. Never really wanted to touch or be touched that way until it happened. the last time they had seen each other, all that time ago. Their kiss had lit something in her, something that had already been burning but she didn't understand it until she tasted just how sweet those lips were.
“Cupcake...”
She hiccuped as she reached for the bottle again, her loose grip on reality caused her to knock over the glass in front of her, no matter, it was empty anyway. Tightening her grip around the bottle as she pulled it closer.
“Hey.”
A voice suddenly broke through her fog, someone was sitting next to her.
“How are you doing tonight?”
Vi turned to see a man, in clean pressed clothes with a five o-clock shadow. She suddenly remembered she was in Piltover and not her dark hole in the ground.
“No thanks.” She mumbled
The man didn’t move.
“Are you that fighter I’ve been hearing about? From Zaun?”
Vi winced at the new monicar for the Undercity, she didn’t want to think about it.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“No, I think you are.”
“Well, I think you’re a dumbass.”
She started to pour another drink when she felt his hand land on her shoulder and something inside her snaps. Next thing she knows she’s on top of him pummeling this Pilty scum into the ground, people are yelling, she stops and looks around. Scared and worried faces gaze at her.
She stands up, grabs the bottle off the bar, puts it directly to her lips and finishes it off. She then makes her way to the exit. As she opens the door the bright rays of daylight pierce her eyes, she squints and raises a hand to block out the sun. She then feels someone grab her outstretched arm and force it behind her back.
She lets out a growl as she struggles against the Enforcers who quickly handcuff and start to escort her away.
“Let go of me!” She roars
One of the officers chuckles while the other one says “You can calm down in the tank.” they’re pushing her into a vehicle, likely to take her to the precinct. The ride is short, her head hurts, they shove her into a shared cell with the other drunks and she growls at anyone who comes near.
She couldn’t save Vander, couldn't save the kid, Jinx was in the wind again, and Caitlyn had moved on to someone else. Vi’s failures kept piling in her mind.
A voice was calling her name.
“Vi!”
She looked up and around, no one in the cell was talking.
“Vi!” She looked over to the cell door.
It was officer Maddie Nolan standing on the other side, gently waving at her.
The brawler scoffed in disbelief, this was probably the last person she wanted to see here.
“Come with me.” Maddie said as she opened the door. Vi was confused now.
“Just, come on!” She repeats herself, gesturing for Vi to follow.
The brawler stands and does as she’s told. Curious what the younger enforcer is going to do with her. Did she even know about her and Cait, did Cait tell her, did Cait even think there was something worth telling? Vi sighed as the insecurities filled her muddled mind, maybe this doe-eyed ginger was what Caitlyn needed. Maybe Caitlyn stopped wanting her the minute Vi stopped her from taking that shot, the minute her rifle butt knocked all the air out of her chest, the minute those blue eyes were filled with such desperation and anger, turning her back on Vi and leaving her down there. Knowing that despite all her efforts, Vi had made things worse.
“It’s been a while since anyone has seen you.” Maddie’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
Vi let out a grunt for a reply, she wasn't sure what was happening, but she was on edge.
“Okay then.” The girl still smiled, “Just work with me, okay?”
Vi wasn’t sure how to interpret that until Maddie grabbed her hands and cuffed them behind Vi’s back, damn she was fast, Vi started to struggle against the restraints.
“What th-”
“Work. With. Me. Okay?” The enforcer repeated herself. Now pulling a bag from a pocket, she opened it and placed it over Vi’s head. The familiar sensation reminded Vi of half a day ago when Caitlyn and her had made their move against Ambessa. Cait almost pleading for Vi to be careful around the hardened warlord. Vi felt something in her side twitch against the stitches there.
Vi wasn't sure she had much of a choice really, she felt Maddie grab her shoulder and start to direct her through the station. She decided to just go with it.
It was a surprise when she was led outside and loaded her into another vehicle. Maddie didn’t take the bag off until they came to a stop a while later.
“Sorry about that.” The ginger said softly, “We didn’t want anyone to recognize you in there, and she wanted to get you out before things got ugly.”
“I would’ve been fine.” Vi almost barked, she knew she shouldn’t give into her aggression but it had been a whirlwind of a day. “None of those Pilties know how to fight anyway.”
Maddie chuckled, and got out to come around to Vi’s side, opening the door while still smiling, she said “Oh we know, she wanted you out for the other inmates sake.”
Vi got out carefully, looking around. They were outside the front of Caitlyn's house.
“Please don’t hit me, okay?” Maddie said, almost sarcastically.
When did she get an edge? Vi thought she was just a goodie two-shoes. The enforcer undid the handcuffs around Vi’s wrists. She moved her arms around freely again looking around.
“So why are we here? Cait doesn’t need me.” She looked directly at the younger girl now, who still remained courteous and professional.
“Commander Kiramman disagrees.” she took a step closer, “She wants you here.” another step “We both do.”
Vi felt confused as she looked into the grey eyes of her former teammate. Something mischievous was hiding in them. But before she could ask another question the freckled girl started walking towards the house.
“C’mon then.”
Vi considered running for a second, but followed anyway. Familiar with the path leading up the main steps, into the massive home. Passing the hallways she remembered Caitlyn collapsing into her arms after the funeral, the first sign of weakness she had allowed herself since Jinx’s attack. Vi remembered wanting to protect her, wanting to fix it, feeling so damn guilty. She had thought of kissing her then, but Cait had pulled away before she could muster the courage, presenting the badge freaked Vi out and she decided it was for the best that nothing had happened. She couldn’t be what Caitlyn needed, what she deserved.
Maddie led her up the stairs, past Caitlyn’s room (did she change rooms?) and towards one of the guest rooms at the end of the hall. Vi noticed how the house was much quieter and somehow darker than it had been the last time she was here.
“So what’s going on?” Vi broke the silence between them as they stopped in front of a door.
“I’m really sorry about this, but I need you to put this on again.” Maddie held out the bag.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Vi took a step back, she didn’t like this.
“Vi, I need you to trust me.” Officer Nolan still had that gentle look on her face, Vi knew she wasn’t in danger but something still felt weird.
“Where’s Cait?” She asked.
“We’re almost there.” Maddie reached out and gently grabbed Vi’s arm, “Please Vi.”
Vi scoffed, but decided to trust the younger officer. She took the bag from the girl, her vision went dark as she put it on herself. She felt Maddie’s hands land on her lower back to guide her into the room, past the door to a chair.
“Sit down. Arms up on the sides.” Maddie softly whispered instructions into her ear.
Vi, still unable to see, felt the armrests of the chair as she reached out, she sat down and did as she was told. All this mystery better be worth it.
She heard Maddie move to her side, heard what sounded like buckles clink together, then she felt the first wrap. Maddie had strapped her arm to the chair, she tried pulling at the restraint but the enforcer was quick to pin down her other arm and strap that as well.
“Okay, what the fuck is happening?!” Vi shouted as she felt Maddie strap one of her ankles.
“Shhhhh” someone whispered softly in her ear from behind. Vi felt goosebumps go up her neck.
The bag was pulled off her head after her last leg was secured, she looked around wildly trying to understand. She was right, they were in a guest bedroom, she had been restrained to a chair about a meter from the bed. It was dark, she could only really see Maddie standing in front of her smiling.
“Where’s Caitlyn?!” She demanded, “What’s going on?!” She struggled against the restraints until a thought crossed her mind, what if Maddie was a plant this whole time, what if she had done something to Cait? “Don’t hurt her! I’ll do whatever you want, just please, let her go.” The ginger looked back at her with a kind of thoughtfulness Vi couldn't quite place.
A chuckle came from behind Vi as a slender hand rested on her shoulder, a familiar voice said “Hmmm, my hero.” it gave her pause as she remembered being tied up in the firelight headquarters all that time ago.
“Caitlyn?”
The taller woman walked around to tower over Vi, in her full Commander regalia, looking down at Vi she cupped Vi’s jaw in her hand, her thumb gently rubbing at her cheek.
“I’ve had to watch you get lost in your vices.” she said sternly “your drugs, the alcohol.”
This had Vi pause and wonder if maybe one of her many hallucinations of Caitlyn watching her in the undercity had been real, “Cait. What is going o-”
“Shut up.” It was very commanding, Caitlyn moved her hand across Vi’s mouth and tilted her face up to meet her gaze.
“So now, you get to watch me get lost in mine.”
Vi felt her eyes go wide. Cait let go of her face and started walking toward the bed. Vi hadn't even noticed that Maddie was already completely undressed, just waiting atop the bed. As Caitlyn approached she slowly removed her gloves, she didn't even look back at Vi. The younger girl on the bed looked to Caitlyn with absolute admiration and adoration. Vi felt her whole body get hotter. Was this jealousy? Was it something else?
“You can’t be serious!” it came out more desperate than Vi wanted it to.
Caitlyn shot back a glare that made Vi’s heart stop, “I said shut up.”
Vi complied, her eyes still wide with shock. She watched as Caitlyn lowered herself onto the bed with Maddie, as her hands started to move across the younger girl’s legs, up her chest, those slender fingers wrapped around Maddies jaw like they had been around Vi’s a moment ago and she pulled her into a deep kiss.
Vi couldn't help the growl that escaped her chest, maybe this was jealousy. Both women looked back at Vi with the interruption. Cait smiled at Maddie, “Well go on then.” the naked girl rose from the bed and walked over to Vi, that same look in her eye from earlier. Vi could see Caitlyn start to unbutton her garments as Maddie leaned down to meet her gaze, she looked curious, then she started to lean in. Soft lips met Vi’s, but she didn’t give into them. Maddie pulled away with her soft smile. She stood and walked behind Vi.
“You will watch this happen, and you will not speak.” Caityn’s voice directed Vi’s gaze to where she was sitting on the bed. She had removed her coat and was unbuttoning her top now. “You will watch this happen, and you will not interrupt.” The gaze grew more intense.
Vi heard something behind her. She turned her head but couldn’t see. Fingers stroked through her hair and took hold at the back, forcing her head up. Vi could see Maddie standing over her, a small bottle in her hand.
“Open up, I know you want it.” Caitlyn said
“I want you!” Vi shouted at her, then suddenly realized what she had said. She felt her face grow warm.
Caitlyn’s eyes faltered for only a second, then she nodded. Vi felt the girl behind her move the bottle to her lips and began to pour. It was definitely alcohol, she felt the liquid rush into her mouth, dribble down her chin a bit as she swallowed what she could.
“Good girl.” Caitlyn praised.
Maddie let go of Vi’s hair and walked back over to the bed. Sitting down next to Caitlyn, the younger girl leaned up to kiss her Commander some more.
Caitlyn ended the kiss and looked to Vi again, “You will watch this happen, and then it will be your turn.”
