Danny looked around him. And came to the realization that the portal he had fallen through was some sort of time travel portal. It was the best explanation that went with the whole falling through a portal thing and the fact that the place he was in looked like the past. And there was a newspaper stand that put him solidly in the past.
Well that was one way to get out of a deadline for his classes. If he disappeared he didn't have to do it right? The university would give him an incomplete for a disappearance. That was if he even managed to make it back which with his luck (and a certain entity's propensity for messing with his life) there was no guarantee of. For all he knew at that moment he was stuck in his new time for the rest of his life.
One problem at a time. For it was threatening to rain and he was not about to get stuck out in that. Not if he had any choice in the matter at all. Especially since it was already near nightfall.
So he quickly began wandering down the street, looking for anything that looked like it was both open and available to the public. He wasn't sure he had any cash on him and even if he did the time change would likely make completely useless to him. And credit cards were right out.
But at least one bit of his luck seemed to be working and he stumbled across a bar. It was fairly hidden which he thought was odd but it was somewhere that he wasn't going to get kicked out of right away. And drunks were likely to buy him food or drink for some parlor tricks that he knew. If he was really lucky there would be a game that he could win some money off of people with. He wasn't above using his powers to make his life easier in a situation like the one he was in.
The bar was fairly full but not so full that he didn't get looks when he first entered. Some of which turned very suspicious as soon as they got a good look at him. Danny looked down at himself in case something was wrong with his clothes. But nope he was still wearing jeans and a t-shirt which shouldn't have been out of the ordinary in any time for the past sixty years from his own.
He stepped away from the door despite the somewhat hostile stares and looked to see if there were any that looked less hostile.
Quickly he spotted some. There was a pair of guys about the same age as him sitting at a table. Their stares were absolutely not hostile. Not even close. In fact they were the near opposite because if Danny was reading their looks right they were checking him out.
Oh that was why he was getting those looks. And why the bar was not immediately obvious from the street. It was a gay bar and he was a stranger. In a time where that could mean trouble. But that was the opposite of what Danny was looking for. He headed to the pair of men.
"I saw you looking," he said as he walked up. "And I was wondering if you wanted anything more?"
The two men looked at each other and had a silent conversation. Which gave Danny a chance to get a better look at them. Both were too good looking to be real yet there they were sitting just in front of him. One who looked just the tiniest bit older was blond and had an arrogant air to him that was a bit off putting but seemed to be the rich kid kind so Danny was in fact fine with taking advantage of that. The other had black hair and less of that. There was still something about him that Danny couldn't pin but wanted to try and figure out. He was really hoping they would say yes. Or at least one would. He might even be able to get a place to stay for the night out of it.
"Only if you are okay with the fact we are a package deal," the blond said.
"Oh that is just perfect," Danny said and sat down in an empty chair. "Name's Danny."
"Call me Ollie," the blond said. "That's Bruce."
"Pleasure," Bruce said. "What brings you here?"
Oh he was blunt. The tone of his voice said that he was not that interested in being polite but that was likely due to being more suspicious than his apparent boyfriend.
"I was wandering the neighborhood and saw this place. It looked interesting so I stopped in," Danny said turning his smile flirtatious. "And this is even better than I had expected."
"Laying it on a little thick aren't you?" Ollie asked.
Danny just shrugged.
"I'm a pretty upfront person," he said. "Less chances to be misunderstood. Plus you two were the ones not at all subtly checking me out."
"Touche."
"I'm going to go get another round," Bruce said and stood to leave.
By the time he came back Danny had Ollie in a very flirtatious conversation that Bruce slipped right into. And the longer it went on the more he realized that he wasn't just going to be taking advantage of them. But that he actually liked the pair of men and that they seemed to like him. Which he could use after the mess he was in. Though it was less scary if this is what he was going to get out of it.
