'Then...oh, I don't know. Listen, I love you. I don't want you to talk like that.'
'You love me?'
'Well, yeah. As much as I could possibly love my closest friend and the man who changed my life forever.' He smiled gently. 'I'm here for you. If you want to talk about something, I'll listen.'
'But when you said love, you meant...'
'The love of a good friend. Of a brother, even. Hell, maybe something else we don't even have a word for.'
'But not the love of a lover.'
'I told you before, Johnny. I'm as straight as they come, so to speak.'So, another failure. Of course.

Yet fate played a cruel trick on him when it never gave him anything in return.
And even after he lost his hope and the chances for a happy end seem impossibly small, one question remains: can the universe truly be this cruel?
