Summary:

Two unhinged people that can't understand each other languages meet each other, fall in love and have to go on adventures without much choice. They meet other people that are probably as unhinged as them along their adventures. (Multiple universes transportations also put in.)

Chapter 1: Introduction

Chapter Text

Hello, author here! I just got myself into the Zelda fandom after years of hesitation. I again regretted not going into it before like the usual shows I push back and regret not watching earlier. I also will use AO3 for the story. I use wattpad for my draft because they don't delete after a month if I stop mid chapter because I don't want to write or something.

(I have came back to edit some of the texts, so if it seems different from the first time, it probably is, but not much changes as I just want to make reading the story smoother and not change the plot)

For a bit of context for not understanding each other languages, the oc that will be inserted doesn’t speak any Hylian languages. Most of the people will speak Hylian only as the common language in the story. Sign language doesn't work because Hylian sign language is different from all the sign language that she has learned, so they will have to learn words from both of their languages to at least somewhat understand what the other is saying. There won’t be major miscommunication or misunderstandings, that is horribly cliché. They will in fact create a different sign language from Hylian and English sigh language overtime. They still will have no idea what each other are saying most of the time.

The oc also comes from the modern world (our world), the oc basically no clipped into Twilight Princess. The oc is only a couple of months older than Link.

I will refer to TP Link as just Link until said otherwise. I will try to make it as cannon as I can. Link will also mostly not speak. I'll have to do some wiki research a lot and I will take ideas or help with lore or characters.

There will not be smut for most of the story, the oc and Link meeting at a fairly too young of an age for me to just do sex without being it weird. Smut is not my thing to write casually, so I'll maybe feel like it when the story is more than at the start. This is quite mature about sex.

Chapter 2: First fight

Summary:

Stranger appears in the Ordon village.

Notes:

I can’t seem to find really good fics of Link x reader/oc so I’ll do it myself, at least I’ll try.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Author here! Just to remind everyone and myself of the fact that the oc's English sounds like gibberish to everyone else and Hylian language also sounds like gibberish to the oc. So I will find a way to add ways of speech to know at all times that they don't understand much of languages.

I usually put "this" for speaking normally, but because of the difference of languages so I don't have to repeat, gibberish, incoherent or stuff similar to that.

"This" is for Hylian language.

"That" is for English.

'This one' is when anyone is thinking.

"'And that one'" is something else I might use later on.

3rd POV

——————————

——————————

It had been a few months since Link appeared in Ordon village with Epona. In a few other months he'll be sixteen years old. He had been helping around in the village for a farm hand and an overall helper for little tasks. He likes it here, it's quiet and peaceful. He also likes everyone here, they gave him traditional clothes of the Ordon village so he doesn't stand out that much, even if his pointy ears obviously made him stand out naturally. He considered letting his hair grow out so it could hid his ears, but with the goats already munching off the hair he has, found it to be a pretty bad idea.

Link was snapped out of his working trance when Ilia ran to him with a slightly panicked expression on her face. "Link someone strange is stuck in a tree" Ilia explained quickly as she started to drag Link to the place by his arm. The two arrived at the place that everything was happening, everyone in the village was gathered there, mostly adults and a few children. Rusl had a weird weapon in his hands and was looking up. Link followed the gaze and his eyes fell on someone being held up by the vines of trees. It didn't look really safe or comfortable, the person also passed out. 'How did they even get stuck like that'? Link thinks to himself as he looked at the sky and trees.

The villagers asked Link to climb the tree that held the main tensions in the vines, having to cut the vines from there. The others putting things that will soften the fall of the stranger. He managed to cut the vines from the tree and the stranger fell on the soft things that was put underneath. Uli quickly walked to the stranger, kneeled beside them to try and assist them while Link climbed down the tree. She tried to feel for a pulse but the clothing that was covering the stranger was blocking their neck and hands. Uli tried to lower the mask to make their neck accessible, but the stranger suddenly woke up before Uli could get her fingers on the mask. The stranger's eyes snapped open, making the people around gasp in surprise.

The stranger grabbed Uli and threw her off them harshly, moving with a groan. Link, who was finally back on the ground saw the stranger go into a weird crouched position and pulled out a small knife from their belt. That made Link move, lunging at the stranger to wrestle them and get them restrained. "I'll go get a rope" Fado said as he ran off to get a rope as Link tried to wrestle the stranger. The said stranger stabbed the small knife into his arm as he wrestled them to the ground. "Get off me, jackass" The strangers words sounded out, much to everyone's confusion as they spoke in a language that is unknown to them. The stranger acted during his confusion and pain. Kicking him backwards, surprisingly making him fly back with a flip. He hit the ground with a thud, a grunt and a groan. He shakily sat upright, his right hand clutching his opposite shoulder as the blood seeped out onto the green clothing that covered his left arm and shoulder.

The stranger however was back on their feet, another knife out. "Y'all tell me where the fuck I am, right now" The stranger spoke angrily, but received no answers from anyone. Before they could even take a full step forward, a rope made to be a lasso catch them by their neck. "What the-"? The stranger exclaimed in confusion as they were snatched back by Fado. The stranger looked around for a moment and sighed, putting their hands up and letting go of their knife.

Turns out the stranger was a girl. She let herself be captured by the people in the village. Getting her belt off and the oversize long sleeve thick shirt with a hood. She was tied down to a chair as Link was getting stitched up. Uli was scolding the two like they were simply little kids that had played too harshly at sword training. The tied down girl didn't really understand what was said but assumed she was getting scolded. "Because Link here is a lefty, you will do the farm handing and tasks around here" Uli said sternly at the girl, which only resulted in a confused look from the girl. Link shook his head, panicking to sign that he would simply just continue but take it slow. Uli simply refused to look at Link as he signed. "Maybe Link is kinda right, she is dangerous and letting her roam around is a stupid thing to do" Rusl said as he finished to stitch Link's wound.

"She was panicked, didn't know where she was, she even let herself be captured by us when she realized that we weren't trying to hurt her" Uli said as she crossed her arms before moving to untie the ropes from the girl, much to the two guys surprise and panic. Uli patted the girl's hair as the said girl rolled her wrist from them being tied for a while. "What's your name sweetheart? I'm Uli, Uli" Uli asked and introduced herself to the girl, saying her name slowly. "Halan" The girl said blankly with a slow voice. "Halan? Pretty name" Uli said with a nob, she then pointed to Link and Rusl. "These are Link and Rusl" Uli said slowly, then pointed to Halan and made a sign, three of her fingers running down from her forehead to the bridge of her nose. "You will work for Link, because he's out for a while" Uli explained slowly, Halan didn't really understand, but nob her head. 'Whatever, I'll just play along, do favours for hurting two people of the village. The kind woman and probably the farm boy' Halan thinks to herself.

Uli and Rusl installed another bed inside of Link's tree house, much to his dread. He didn't really want to sleep or live in the same house with the same girl that had almost permanently damaged his arm. The two were left alone, he was incredibly tired from the day of hard work, adrenaline and blood felt. He mumbled a curse at himself for putting his bed where he always had to climb up a ladder. He pointed to his bed, getting Halan's attention so that she would help him climb his ladder. She pushed his dining table to the ledge where his bed is and put his coffee table on top of the dining table. She climbed the ladder as he stood on the coffee table, pulled him to his bed and climbed down the ladder to go to her own bed. Link closed his eyes, finally being able to rest after the eventful day.

Halan laid in her new bed, staring at the ceiling blankly. 'This doesn't seem like a weird job set by some weirdo obsessed with fantasy settings' Halan thinks to herself as her plain green eyes moved to look at Link lazily. 'He seems like the only one my age here, how weird, everyone here seems human, but he has pointy ears and his body seemed to have a somewhat different way of working' Halan thinks to herself as she observed what she could see of him as she made sure he would be deep asleep. When she was sure he would wake up any time soon, she sat up and swung her legs to the side of the bed and got up. She walked to the kitchen and searched for food, but found none, no fridge and no pantry. 'What kind of time I am in right now? This sucks' Halan thinks to herself with gritted teeth. She got some food and water packed with nutrients from her belt of things.

Halan checked on the things in all the packs of her belt as she munched on her food. She had her phone, it was charged at 74% and she had her cord and special charger that she could use if she reeled the handle, she was relieved by that. She checked her phone, it still had reception and internet access, but a lot of things were restricted for some reason. She checked for her other things, taking the bullets to count them, being stuck here she'll have to stretch out her recourses, but the bullets seem to be infinite. All of her things seem to be in pristine condition and infinite, even her clothes seem to fit her how she wants them to, less rugged and more resilient. Her compression shirt fitting properly, her bandages on her arms and fingerless gloves not itching or messy placed on her. Her compress socks not rolling down and her mask not slipping down like it would when she moved her jaw to talk.

She decided to just be grateful and not question the oddly video game like logic in this world. Her gun was fine, only a little dirty. She stared into space as she cleaned absently the gun, muscle memory of all the times she had done the same movements to clean the gun. "Fuck" She mumbled quietly as she moved her right leg up and down rapidly. 'Is this some weird world and Link is the main character with a sad backstory? I can't just assume, even if he's the only one that looks like an elf. Do they call themselves elves'? She thinks to herself as she finished cleaning and putting the gun together. She walked to where she had put her stuff beside her bed, her eyes catching herself in the mirror, she checked her hair. The gray that seemed to be creeping up to her roots over the years of her life was still there. The gray had been only at the tip of her hair like it was before she had gotten here. She returned to her bed staring at the ceiling blankly again. 'What a great 16 birthday' Halan thinks to herself as she began to drift off into slumber.

——————————

——————————

Link woke up very sore and almost jumped out of his skin when he saw Halan standing at the end of his bed, ready for the day and a hand on her hip. She helped him down and the two walked to Uli's and Rusl's house to go eat something, Halan somehow managed to sneakily eat the food without showing her face. Uli was changing the bandages around his shoulder, Colin waking up, happy to see Link and terrified to see Halan. Link made groans of pains all morning long, Halan decided to give him some advil, she gave him way too much, giving him an adult dose of advil, not thinking about the fact that it was the first time taking advil.

Link was out of it for the day, vaguely guiding Halan to do farm work as she herself kept her eyes on him so he doesn't go on overdose from the advils. Halan had to get the goats in the barn, she had a whip and used it to get the goats in instead of learning how to ride a horse with the teaching of a tweaked out Link. She gave the animals feeds for the day, Link having a more clear mind at that point of the day, pointing what goes where. She turned the dirt and helped picking out the vegetables from the dirt. She was now currently working on the old charette having it flipped over to replace the pole that connected the wheels. Halan was deeply focused on her work before being startled when Pergie came behind her, poking Halan's shoulder. Looking over to Pergie who held a plate of fruits.

——————————

——————————

It had been a month since Halan ended up here, Link had been able to go back to work with Halan. The two often get into tugging wars and wrestling arguments. This often involves her flickering his pointy ears, nudging into him while working and her talking to him in a mocking tone. She always won the fights, him not having any training like she did, also more tall, strong, flexible and agile than him. His one two punching style not really working and his sturdy body simply being used against him. Link found her annoying but it felt good to play rough with someone that is stronger than him, it made him feel less alone. Halan found him extremely attractive, kind of annoying too, but still incredibly hot. He is quite the sweetheart after all, with a rough body. He was a good change compared to some of the chatty men she had worked with in the past on jobs. The men often just treating her like some little sister or their kid.

Halan would often snap photos of Link working shirtless. If she could ask for him to be shirtless all the time she would, but because of the language barrier, she just improvised with just taking photos sneakily of him. It felt weird to not be on a job or acting kinda like a normal teenager. She would often have sleepless nights, waking up and patrolling the borders of the village with her gun when she felt paranoid. Often muttering about the anatomy of humans, to keep her paranoid mind from freaking out over things around her. She sometimes couldn't notice how loud she muttered and walked kinda close to some houses, waking up and scaring some of the people in the houses. Link was told of what happened some nights and decided to jam his door at night, but she still found a way outside, his door still jammed in the morning.

Halan mostly stayed to herself, Ilia tried multiple times to chat or hang out with Halan, but wasn't really successful. Halan often working on the farm, Ilia not being able to really help with the work for long, winded out after ten minutes of turning the dirt. Ilia felt jealous of Link and Halan. The two seemed to have a good relationship already, even though the two literally couldn't understand each other, the two seemingly carefree as they worked and fought like they knew each other since being born. However she found Halan to be an unnerving individual, often finding her staring at people in a way that seems ready to kill. A look that she had never seen on a simple human before.

3rd POV

——————————

——————————

It had been about five months since Halan landed here in the village. She had been working like crazy, making the others feel a bit lazy as they looked at her go. She didn't really like taking care of the animals that much so Link did it on his own while she went working on the dirt. The women of the village felt bad about it and simultaneously decided to have Halan take a nice relaxing warm bath. To their ignorance, Halan was extremely happy to work, having her mind preoccupied as she is not used to walking around during the day so freely. It had been hard for her to even communicate about anything when she needed to really want to tell or inform anyone. It took a week for Link to understand that she won't be taking care of the animals anymore.

"AB- is the most difficult blood type to get a donor from" Halan muttered to herself absentmindedly as she worked on the dirt. Her arms lifting the tool up in the air and down on the dirt as she worked on the soil. Uli and Pergie came, walking up to Halan as she worked. "Halan, we'll like to help you relax, we prepared a bath for you" Uli spoke to Halan, knowing that she will most likely listen to her as she knew her the longest. Halan stopped working as her name was spoken, assuming it's something important, she began to think about what Uli would have said with furrowed eyebrows. "Come with us Halan" Uli added as the two older women tugged Halan by the arms, making her walk with them. "W-wait where are y'all taking me"? Halan said with a sweat on her brow, confused and concerned about what kind of situation she would end up in.

Halan stared blankly at the bath in front of her, her eyes shifting to look at Pergie as the said woman prepared the soap and stuff for the bath. "Now that I really think about it, I could really enjoy a bath right now" Halan said with a sigh, she had ended up with the habit of saying what she was thinking out loud, no more reason to keep quiet because of the language barrier. Halan stripped naked when the two women left to let Halan have her privacy if she felt uncomfortable about it. She began taking off her clothes, staring with her fingerless gloves and bandages around her arms. Taking off her compression shirt and bra next as she folded the clothes and put them on the nearby table. Her pants, compress socks, underwear and boots came off next, putting them with the rest of her clothes. She got into the bath water after putting her clothes neatly on the table, her gun leaning on a nearby wall closest to the bath. Uli and Pergie coming back to see Halan who looked like she had been through hell and back during her life.

The older women eyes landed on Halan's face the usually covered bottom part now revealed a giant scar that they didn't really want to imagine what the original wound looked like. All of her limbs having plenty of different sorts of scars, the women winced at the ugly sight. She let herself be washed, relaxing into the bath. "This is missing some spa music" Halan commented to herself, decided to get her phone and play some music after thinking about it. The two women were confused as Halan revealed the device, looking at it with their head tilted. "Halan, what is that"? Pergie asked her as she pointed curiously to the phone. "Don't worry about it" Halan replied, guessing what was asked. She opened youtube and started to play some relaxing music, startling the two women at the sudden sound from the device. However the two women found it relaxing, decided to just let the music play out hoping it isn't something that may curse them all.

The sun was setting when Hallan was let go of her mandatory relaxing bath that Uli and Pergie 'forced' her into. Walking back to her shared house with Link, she wondered if he would ask about her time away from the farm. 'Well it's not like I'll understand what he would say if he talked at all' She thinks to herself as she arrived at the house. She was greeted by the smell of food, taking off her boots, belt and weapon from her back. Putting them aside at the entrance of the house before walking in the house, she see's food on the table as usual by this time. The two sitting facing each other as they ate the food. Link nervously ate, his eyes shifting between her face and chest rapidly. His face, neck and ears flushed as his teenage hormones didn't help him staying calm as she sat in front of him. "I wonder if you took off your shirt today"? Halan commented with a curious tone and a sigh, leaning her chin on the palm of her hand. She was a bit tired and relaxed at the moment eating the food with a hum, her eyes lingering on him.

——————————

——————————

Link had hidden away in the goat's barn to jerk off. Of course he wasn't the most horny teenager that existed, in fact it has been only recently just before arriving at the Ordon village that he had his growth spurt. His voice had already dropped without him noticing as he never really liked to talk in the first place. He had to introduce himself to the village and got surprised by his sudden deeper voice. Along with his growth spurt and deeper voice, came the hormones that fogged his brain sometimes, like any normal teenager. Of course even with his mind mostly thinking about helping people and working as a farm hand, he can't really escape his body's need even if he found it quite shameful. In the rare moments where he needed to relieve some of his tension, he was able to do it early in the morning before his work time and in the evening after his work time, as he lived alone in the tree. Feeling safe enough to be vulnerable and relieved himself of the tension without having too much anxiety of being found or being shameful of needing to stop working during the daytime to relieve the tension.

Well not anymore with Halan also living in the house with him, she seemed to always be there in the shadows, it almost seemed like she was breathing down his neck. The two somewhat got along even if she almost killed him when they first met and they often had little fights that usually start with her prodding at him. It wasn't really a problem at first as he saw the taller girl as a simple coworker that lived with him without a choice, but by the Goddesses he found her more and more attractive with each passing days. His first impression of her is that she was just any other girl that was more deadly and came from who knows where. Overtime he noticed her more complex personality, she didn't seem to like the children, but still made sure to be really careful with them. She seemed like someone insecure, considering that her clothing covered her completely, but she always seems to not think it twice if she has to take off some of them to do something, important or not. She seemed to act plain and neutral all the time. Until he found her actions more sarcastic and playful than anything else. Having witnessed her having a seemingly dramatic meltdown over some fruits being dropped, dropping to her knees and weeping over the smashed fruits like it was a loved one's body.

He still found that her self mumbling, talking to herself was unsettling to witness. He absolutely had no idea what she would say at all and he would just silently hope it wasn't anything serious. He had seen her face quite often, almost every time it was time to eat as she didn't seem to really care if everyone saw her face anymore, after figuring out that people didn't care much about it. The scars were a mystery of her, along with a lot of things about her. The scar on her face seemed to only be aesthetic as she had no difficulty breathing, eating, drinking or talking. Even if the original injury would have left her with a jaw barely hanging on by some skin and muscles. Her compression shirt was a surprisingly strong fabric breathable and also hard to grab. She would wear the thicker long sleeve shirt when it would be cold. She usually treated him just like any other person would, she also used her whip to grab him and drag him along, usually making him trip just for the fun of it.

That with the fact that he never had his time alone lead to this situation right now. He was quietly jerking himself in the goat barn, it being the only place he could be alone nowadays. She stopped wanting to take care of the animals since three months ago, leaving that task to him as she went on the soil, turning the dirt and taking care of the crops. Nobody would come inside the barn during the day, the goats usually out and about outside the barn during most of the daytime unless they came to drink and eat. So the people that would sometimes come to see the goats never entered the barn, knowing and seeing that they were not in the barn.

"Mhn"! He whined with a shiver, a bit relieved that he finally had the time for this, but also embarrassed and anxious that his first time not doing this at his house was because he might have been caught by Halan. He still has a chance to be caught by anyone including the housemate, but he couldn't wait any longer, being uncomfortable and quite literally grumpy lately. He sped up the pace with a gasp. 'Please by the Goddesses, nobody come by, I'll probably just die of shame on the spot' Link silently prayed to himself with a whimper as the familiar coiling in his guts was felt. "A-ah" He moans quietly, closing his eyes and his face scrunching up as his release finally came. He lets out a relaxed sigh as he fixed his clothes to make it seem like he didn't just pleasured himself in the middle of his work.

He looked blankly at the goat's water, having just came in it, a bit disappointed in himself for what he just did. With a sigh he turned to walk out from the barn and came face to face with Halan. 'Oh fuck-' "OH MY GOD, DID YOU JUST JIZZ IN THE GOAT WATER"?! Halan said with a laugh, pointing at him at the same time. Goddesses Link just wanted to jump off a cliff at this point. He turned red, looking at the ground with a mortified expression as she laughed at him. After several minutes Halan finally stopped laughing, now just smirking at him while he wanted to sink into the ground and never return. "You could have asked for my help for that" She said playfully with a smirk, he could only assume that she was mocking him in that tone.

For the rest of the day he took care of the animals in a sheepish manner, slowly doing his tasks during the day. He worked as late as possible until Rusl forced him to go back home. While walking back to the house, dragging his feet as he walked, he thought about how he didn't even notice his housemate sneaking up to the barn. 'Damnit the goddesses really do hate me' He thinks to himself as he recalled what happened today. 'Is she going to kick me out? Will she think that I was thinking about her while- No, no. She probably knows that it's somewhat natural for growing teenagers to do this, I hope she does! I wouldn't even be able to explain myself'! He started to overthink, his hands gripping at his hair in his stressed thinking. He unfortunately arrived home, standing anxiously in front of the door as he freaked himself out.

He finally opened the door after a moment of hyping himself up. He found Halan sitting calmly at the table, cleaning her weird weapon again as music played in the background. He had found himself used to the music after a while, it made things less lonely in the house. There was food on the side of the table, she had probably already eaten because of how late it is currently. As she cleaned the weapon like usual, she was humming along to her music as she worked on cleaning it. When she noticed him at the entrance she pointing to the food and to him, indicating that it was his. "I wonder if this home has a real structure or will it just rot because it's a dead tree"? She muttered to herself quietly in a curious tone as she cleaned the weapon. "H-home"? Link said with a little difficulty, startling Halan at the fact that he spoke at all and spoke English of all things.

"What"? She said in confusion as she stopped her music as she dropped her task of cleaning. "What? Home"? Link added as he tried copy what she was saying. He had no idea what he was saying, but he could only pronounce words that she had said a lot before and were fairly easy to say. She made the hand sign for him to stop, a sigh coming from her as she stood up and gestured him to follow her. She walked outside with him and gestured to their home with her hand. "Home" She said as she gestured to their tree house. "Home" He repeated more clearly, finally understanding that the word means house in general or/and their home they live in currently. The two walked back inside, he sat down to eat his food, she went back to cleaning her weapon at the table and her music played again inside the house.

——————————

——————————

Halan was currently working on the farm, ripping out potatoes from the dirt. She had been shown that she could take the potatoes back to the house to eat. She was glade for that as she wanted to make a stew for tonight, missing cooking stuff up. Since she got here Uli usually made all the food for Halan and Link. Assuming that Halan probably didn't know how to cook like how Link is clueless on how to cut any vegetables without cutting himself in the process. Halan had taken herbes and spices from Uli's kitchen with the woman's permission, at least she hopes she was given the permission to take them. "Man, his voice sounds so hot" She said to herself as she pulled out potatoes from the dirt, washing them in the bucket she was given and put them in another bucket with the other clean potatoes. Stopping from time to time to reel the portable charger as her phone played music now constantly. The people around the village actually enjoy the music that she puts on her phone and simply didn't ask questions about the device.

Ilia came walking to Halan with a plate of fruits for her. Spotting Halan washing the potatoes in a bucket before putting the clean potatoes in another bucket with other clean potatoes. "My father asked me to give you these for your hard work Halan" Ilia said calmly, as she had approached Halan, she had been pleasantly surprised to see that Halan had change so much in the relatively short amount of time she was there in the village. The dangerous look in Halan's eyes gone even if she still carried the weapon on her back around the village. "Thanks, but my hands are a bit dirty" Halan said lifting her uncovered arms and hands that are covered in dirt to show that she couldn't eat the fruits right now.

Ilia sat beside Halan and slowly pulled down Halan's mask, cringing at Halan's scar and fed her the fruits herself. "That's sweet of you Ilia, thanks" Halan said with a chuckle and a grin. Ilia's cheeks flushed at this, not used to see Halan's like this in the open without the mask covering her face. Ilia sat beside Halan watching her work on the potatoes after she fed her all the fruits and covered her face with the mask again. Listening to the calm music as she watched her work on the potatoes, observing Halan's arms curiously. Halan's scars were a mystery as nobody could really ask about them, but Halan never seemed to have the scars out in the open. The two girls watched as Link walked past the two with his shirt off, today being a hot day. Ilia got flustered but still sneakily looked at Link, Halan took her phone and took a picture of Link. "What did you do with the device"? Ilia asked Halan, poking her shoulder and pointing to the phone with a curious expression on her face.

"I can just take pictures, here" Halan said as she gave the phone to Ilia, showing how to swipe to the pictures in the picture app. Most of the pictures were of Link shirtless in different days and angles. Some even being of Link while he did other stuff like sleeping, eating or working. Some photos being of Halan herself staring blankly into a mirror or the camera. A few photos were of when the sky was pretty or other random pretty things. Halan took back her phone before Ilia could swipe too much and end up on a bad picture, putting back music on youtube. "Do you like Link"? Ilia asked quietly to Halan with a curious look on her face. "Link"? Halan said confused not sure what Ilia said about Link. Ilia was curious on what Halan thought of Link, the two living together for about six months at this point.

"Do you like Link"? Ilia asked again as she made a heart with her hands trying to gesture to liking him. "Who likes Link"? Rusl's voice said from behind the two girls, startling Ilia, Halan simply waving at Rusl before returning to the work on the potatoes again. "Oh, it's nothing" Ilia said with a squeaky voice embarrassed to have been caught trying to communicate with Halan in such an obnoxious manner. "Anyways I think your father would be searching for you if you didn't tell him you'll be staying with Halan" Rusl said with a slight chuckle and a raised eyebrow. Ilia left to go back home after excusing herself from the farm to go back home.

After the long day of work on the farm Halan walked back to the house with a basket of potatoes, them being the last ingredients to her list as she wanted to make a stew. She wanted something that would taste close to home, missing cooking things as Uli made most of their food. She gathered the ingredients on the table as she chose her music before starting the beef stew, she wasn't sure if it was beef, it looked like beef and it was red meat so she didn't really make it complicated. She had discovered that putting the meat in one of her pockets made it so it preserved it forever? It was a bit gross but she didn't have a freezer to put the meat in so she kept it in there for about a week or something. She got a knife to start preparing the ingredients, peeling the vegetables, measuring out the spices and cutting up the meat. Putting a cauldron on a flame and mixing everything in. Keeping watch of the stew as it boiled. "Surprisingly potatoes are stem growing and not root growing. A bit strange considering they grow fully underground. A bit like how garlic also grows in stem, but ginger is a root" She muttered to herself as she cleaned up the peels of the vegetables and mess on the table from all the manipulation of ingredients.

"Link has been coming home late since the jerking situation. Is he really that embarrassed? I guess it's not something that's really talked about in this time period" She mumbled to herself as she stirred the stew. 'It's not like I can explain that I don't care about it that much' She thinks to herself as she took the time to put back on the bandages on her arms, having them off while she touched the ingredients and prepared the stew. 'I did also laughed at him, I couldn't really help it, he did just cum in the goat water' She thinks to herself with a slight chuckle as she secured the bandages on her arms. "I'm guessing he isn't really the type to be horny all the time anyways. Poor guy probably finds the act very intimate and vulnerable to do" She muttered to herself with a sigh as she puts her fingerless gloves back on. She continues to work on the stew, it finished fairly quickly. 'The time here is a bit janky, work on the farm takes days on days, but making a stew and it finishing cooking takes half an hour'? She thinks to herself with a raised eyebrow. "What the hell"? She said in confusion with a chuckle.

Link made his way to the house, the goats were extra difficult today adding the fact that he stretched his work day since the incident, not wanting to be with Halan that much, it was awkward for him even if she didn't seem to care. 'I wonder what Uli cooked for us tonight'? He thought with curiosity, he was starving at the moment. He was just thinking about eating and crashing in his bed as he kicked some pebbles in his path. When he arrived in front of the door, hearing Halan's music playing loudly from inside the house. 'She's back this early- oh wait it's actually very late' He thinks to himself with a sigh and opened the door to the house. "Home"! Link said out loud as he took off his sandals by the entrance of the house. The two had made it an habit to yell 'home' when they arrived at the end of the work day. "Home"! Halan yelled back from the kitchen. The two yelling the word to at least feel like they aren't completely clueless around each other and so that they knew when one of them is around, avoiding spooking him out as she was extremely quiet.

Link sat at the table with a sigh, his tummy growling as he smelled the stew, drooling in anticipation. "Uli"? He asked as he pointed at the food and made a sign with hands, showing that he was asking a question. "No, I made the food" Halan said, shaking her head, pointing to the food and herself to show it was her that made the food. He felt dread, he didn't even know she could cook until just now, he quickly tried to get away, but she wrapped her whip around his torso and pulling him back to the table. "Where do you think you're going"? She said with an annoyed tone, serving him the stew and holding him down on the chair. "I know you're hungry Link" She said as she pointed to the bowl, leaning over him as she waited for him to eat.

He tasted the stew nervously, silently praying his possible last prayers to the Goddesses. When he finally tasted the stew he was blown away, it tasted amazing. 'It tastes even better than what Uli cooks sometimes' Link thinks to himself as he gulped down the stew happily. "See, there was no need to worry" The taller girl said with a chuckle as she patted his hair, taking a picture of his face while he ate the food. She sat down with a bowl of her own and ate calmly.

Hi, author here! It's the end of this chapter, 4050~ words. I'm quite happy with the results of this chapter. I had started it because I had motivation to do more but not too good. So I was almost done with the chapter with 2000 words or something, but I stopped to do something else. I came back to it later that day and changed how it was written and everything. I'm very happy that I was able to save it because I'm happy to write this type of story. :)

Chapter 4: Training

Summary:

The two awkward teenagers are getting closer. Along with the main game story time.

Notes:

Author here, I'm supper hype to continue. Also I actively listen to all the Zelda lore I can, because I'm a little behind on things like that. I only ever had a Wii and an 360 xbox as consoles in the house. The xbox was for call of duty and I had mario, kirby and no zelda games. Also kissing scene and slight domestic fluff? Comment if I make mistakes.

3rd POV

——————————

——————————

Halan found herself outside of the house, swinging around a metal bar she had just gotten from the village. 'I'll have to get used to this thing, it will be useful in the long run' She thinks to herself as she swung, moving with the bar, trying to get familiar with it quickly. Halan had nothing to work on anymore because of the season. The village does not have a farm during the winter, people sometimes ask for her help, but they didn't need much help all the time because of how peaceful it is in the village. As far as she could tell, she wasn't really useful for now. "Still, I'll have to go help Uli around the house, she's already in her second trimester" Halan muttered to herself with a grunt as she swung the bar widely.

Halan had knives she used to throw or stab people, it relied on her throwing abilities and where she stabbed people, it lacked real force in the end. Her gun, useful for long range and close combat overall. Using it in close combat could damage it and it's really loud if shot. Her whip is versatile, but it's hard to use overall and it takes space around herself to use. It only cuts the skin and grabs tightly. The bar that she had newly acquired would serve to be a long range weapon, that would hit hard, just need to swing at good timings and be used to propel herself in the air with it. She only hoped that it would be easy to get used to.

"I just need to figure out how to move with this thing" She muttered to herself as she stabbed the bar in the ground and tried to use it as a pole, but only ended up falling back on the ground. "Ow" She said blankly with a sigh as she laid on her back holding the bar so it wouldn't fall on her. She sat up with a huff and a groan, the bar flat on her lap. She reached in one of her pockets for her phone. 'Damn it's kinda dark now, it must be because of winter time' She thought to herself as she opened her phone and checked the time on it. "Oh fuck, I'm almost late to go help Uli" She said in surprise at the time being actually quite late, she stood up quickly using the bar. She dusted herself off as she ran to the ladder, climbing it quickly to go put the bar inside.

She ran out of the house after putting away the metal bar, jump-landing down to the ground instead of using the ladder, doing a tuck roll. 'I'll have to figure out the best way to carry that thing around' Halan thinks to herself with gritted teeth as she runs to the village, the sky becoming darker and darker by the minutes. She made her way to Uli's house, rounding the slopes as quickly as she could without tripping in the process. She dusted off her boots before turning the doorknob, opening the door before walking inside. She closed the door behind her, taking her weapon off of her back and setting it down near a wall to make it lean on it. "Who's here"? Uli's voice sounded out from a separate room in the house. "Uli"? Halan voiced out as she looked around entering the kitchen.

Uli walked slowly to the kitchen where Halan was standing in the middle. Taking off her hoodie, giving it to Uli, the pregnant woman loved wearing it, keeping her warm and secretly really liked the smell of the teenager's hoodie and like wearing it. Halan began taking off her fingerless gloves next, putting them in her right pants pocket to get back later. She began unwrapping her bandages after taking off the gloves, uncovering her arms so that she could cook without risking staining her difficult to wash clothing pieces. She rolled up the bandages before putting them in her left pants pocket. As she prepared herself to cook, Uli gathered the ingredients for Halan to use, at the same time showing her what she wanted to eat.

Uli craved the tomato and pumpkin based stew with meat all the time. Halan found the combination to be not very her taste, the mix of the stew making her feel a bit disgusted even if she was the type to only care about how much energy food gives and not how it tastes. Halan also prepared another recipe for both her and Link. He also wasn't a big fan of the stew Uli craved all the time, he didn't mind at first but, he was tired of eating it after the third day. Uli sat patiently on a chair at the table with Halan's hoodie on, watching Halan cook with music of her choice playing in the background.

Link rode on Epona's back as he made his way back to the house after the workday. He had been using Epona more and more recently so he didn't have to spend that much time walking in the cold anymore. He got off of Epona when he arrived, tying her lead to a pole at the front of the house before making his way up the ladder. 'Having a ladder is such a pain' Link thinks to himself with a grunt as he climbs up it. He opened the door with a relieved sigh, feeling warmer inside after being in the cold outside all day. "Home"! He yelled as usual, but got no reply as he entered, he heard clatter as he accidentally nudged the metal bar that was leaning on the wall. He looked down at the metal bar that Halan had recently acquired. 'Oh, she's probably at Uli's house by now' He thought with a sigh, going back outside and getting back on Epona to go to Uli's house. He had to go there to eat, his lack of skills in cooking not helping his situation. He managed to quickly get to Uli's house riding on Epona's back.

He arrived in front of the house, getting off of Epona's back and tying her at a pole before entering the house. "Home"! He shouted, out of habit before his lips tightened up, a mortified expression as he just shouted that he's home inside someone else's house and in front of Uli. "Oh my, what did you say"? Uli asked with a chuckle, not used to hearing Link speak, much less shout, also amused that he used Halan's language to speak. 'That is so embarrassing' Link thinks to himself, his head in his hands for a moment before he signed to Uli that he said he arrived home out of habit. "It's ok Link, I also picked up a few words from Halan overtime" Uli said with a chuckle, Link tilted his head as he got curious. He asked with hand signs about the words Uli picked up from Halan.

"Oh, I say music sometimes, which means music, the sounds that play from the device she has. Drink, eat and sleep. Drink, eat and sleep. Also a few curse words that you don't need to know" Uli explained calmly as she sat patiently at the table. Link nob his head, less embarrassed about having picked up words from Halan while living with her. Link went to Halan to help her make the food, feeling lazy that she does everything related to food. She pointed to the sink, indicating to wash his hands above everything else. He moved to the sink, washing his hands thoroughly before returning to her side. He by no means has even a bit of skill about food other than eating it. "Can you mash the tomatoes" Halan asked him calmly, moving a hand in a smashing motion and pointing to the tomatoes sitting in a bowl that had just been done boiling.

He had fun mashing the tomatoes, she always made it fun and managed to get him to help with the cooking without making him ruin the food. "So when are you going to court her"? Uli asked him with a grin, the question making him freeze mid squishing a tomato. He turned around to face Uli with an expression of confusion and flustered. "W-what"? Link said quietly in confusion, his hands signing stuff too quickly for Uli to understand. "Hey, don't do that, you're wasting the tomato juice and splashing it everywhere"! Halan said with an annoyed tone, kicking his side as she worked on the pumpkins. Startling him at the kick, turning back to the bowl as he guessed that it was the sticky juice on his hands that bothered her.

"Everyone in the village noticed how you look at her, Ilia told me that she saw you trying to give a shiny rock to Halan. Isn't that one of the traditions of courting for Hylians"? Uli asked him with a raised eyebrow, Link flushed red, embarrassed at being caught in that situation. 'Curse you traditions' Link thinks to himself with gritted teeth, clenching his fists into the tomatoes, mashing them more. That was true, Hylians didn't have that much different courtship methods than any other humans, but a thing different is that Hylians like to give jewelry or crystals/shiny rocks to someone they like. He doesn't have the means to buy jewelry or crystals, so he just searches for the most pretty rocks for hours on end. She accepted the now three rocks until now, she made a rope thing to make a makeshift necklace to have each rocks on her at all times.

"That's good, go wash off all the extra juice from your hands" Halan said as she pointed to the sink taking the bowl of mashed tomatoes from him before dumping it in a pot. The pumpkins were over a fire, cooking it to make it soft to also turn them to mush. She began to cut the meat into cubes for the pumpkin and tomato stew as the pumpkins finished cooking over the fire. She pulled the pumpkins from the fire, giving it to Link so he can mush them like he did for the tomatoes. As he mushed the pumpkins, she seasoned the meat and began cooking it over the fire. Uli chuckled as she watched the two work on the food. 'Halan is quite obvious and bold in her attraction to Link. But, Link doesn't seem to notice, somehow' Uli thinks to herself with a sweatdrop. 'Halan is not too sure of his attraction towards her, understandable, she probably doesn't know any Hylian behaviour or how they court. She probably doesn't want to force herself on him' Uli thinks to herself with a sigh.

"You ok Uli? Something on your mind"? Halan spoke up, her green eyes fixed on the pregnant woman as she pointed to her own head and made a thumbs up as she tilted her head. Uli felt a wave of unease. Despite knowing Halan for a while and seeing the tall girl mostly neutral all the time. Uli found her to be quite intimidating and uncanny to look at. Having moments where she had to remind herself that the graying teen wouldn't wait for that long to simply kill everyone in the village. Uli fully realized that Halan wasn't human at all while giving her the first warm and relaxing bath. Lacking the genitals on her body, no nipples and no lower private parts. At the moment it explained how Halan worked all day, ate or drank without taking breaks. The idea of someone or something looking almost all human and the only real proof being under the clothes she wears was an unsettling thought to have. Despite Halan not being human, the taller being seemed to have quite the unique mind. She wondered if Halan was just a lone entity or if there's a bunch of hidden people like her. 'Is she even female? How would people like her reproduce? Did she have a family before coming here? Why-' "Uli"? Halan interrupted Uli's slightly panicked thinking with a raised eyebrow.

Uli gave a thumbs up back at Halan and pointed to her head. "Just thinking about food, don't worry" Uli said with a smile as she spoke to Halan. Ilia had spoken to Uli about Halan having a weird vibe, the pregnant woman had brushed it off at first, the conversation being before giving warm baths to Halan. There was also the fact that it felt less intimate to bathe Halan with her not having genitals, so it didn't really register that Halan was an unknown being that was for some reason staying at a simple village for whatever purpose. That was until the first time Halan started cooking for Uli when her pregnancy began to make her too tired to cook and clean in the same day. Halan had been getting used to cooking in the new space and had stabbed a knife through her hand by accident as she was finishing making food. Halan's hand healed after she had pulled out the knife, the wound closing like it had never been there, but Halan was frustrated, cursing as she threw away all the food. She spent a lot of time scrubbing everything down, everything that may have had her blood on it and even seemed to hesitate about using the same pots, pans and ustensiles multiple days in a row.

Uli finally snapped back to present time when she was served her craving meal by Halan. "Man I don't know how you can still eat this stuff all the time" Halan said with a laugh as she returned to the kitchen to cook the other meal for her and Link. Uli watched the two as Link tried to peel potatoes again, almost dropping the potatoes and the peeler before Halan pried the things off his hands. 'I guess the two complete each other in some way, his shyness and her boldness' Uli thinks to herself as she ate her stew. "You bastard, stop trying to help with the food, you know you'll fuck it up"! Halan said to Link as she kicked the back of his knee, making him fall backwards with a yelp. 'He's never going to learn how to cook if she just kicks him out of the kitchen every time, literally. It's not like she'd understand my explanation' Uli thinks to herself with a chuckle.

——————————

——————————

"AGAIN"! Halan said as she made a circle motion with her finger in the air. At this point the taller girl didn't have to make the hand sign for him to understand what the world meant. He lost count on how many times she practiced with him. Training with the metal bar until it became like an extension of herself. She learned to propel herself up in the air like an acrobatic and swing the bar down mid air. "Can't we stop for today? Don't you have to go cook for Uli"? Link in his rare moment of speech tried to plead with a pant, hoping saying Uli's name would remind her to go do the cooking and everything. 'Jeez, I've never actually noticed how much energy she has. We've been at it all day and the only break we took was for me to drink some water and eat something to keep me from keeling over' Link thought while getting up on his feet with a slight wobble, his mouth open as he heaved, feeling like the air was lacking.

Link was hurting all over as she motioned to get prepared. She hadn't been hitting him during this training, so all the exhaustion was caused by him moving around. He was the one who offered to help with her training, she had hesitated before accepting, she also made sure to get him used to how she moved around at least a little. He learned the hard way that even when she tries to be as predictable as possible, she still moves too erratically to actually know what she'd do before she does it. The cold air made his lungs and throat hurt and numb at the same time. His legs hurt, he had to move around so much due to her long reach with the metal bar, he wasn't used that much to move like this. To move around he would use Epona. He started to regret offering her help, he regretted wanting to be helpful and he regretted not running away during her hesitation.

In his frustrated state, when she started to move towards him, he managed to grab her and spun with her as her weight gravitated with the momentum. She let go of her bar, throwing it to the side before she could slam onto him, not wanting it to fall awkwardly into it and hurt him. The two teenagers fell to the ground with a shared grunt, the taller of the two landing on top of Link. "Why would you do that"? She asked with a sigh, finally snapping out of her training mentality as she sat up on him, straddling his hips. He simply whined out with a slight wheeze as he panted, a slight teary look on his face from his exhaustion. Her lips parted as she looked down at him, her eyes looking him over with raised eyebrows. "This is kinda hot" She mumbled as she scratched at the scar along her cheek. She pulled out her phone and took a couple of pictures of him in this state. "Also kinda comfortable" She added with a chuckle as she got comfortable on him, shifting on top of him. He shivered, not sure if it was because of the friction of her on top of him or the cold ground he was lying on.

She sighed as she got off of him, stepping to his side putting away her phone before helping him stand up to his feet. 'We should stop for today, he looks exhausted and pathetic' The less tired teenager thought to herself as she watched him pant, his eyes half closed. "Stop" She said out loud to him as she lifted her hand as a stopping motion. "Thanks the Goddesses" He wheezed as he felt a relief that it was over, his hands on his knees as he caught his breath. Halan walked to where the metal bar had landed when she threw it, picking it back up and cleaning the dirt off of it. Her back facing him as she crouched to clean the bar. She stood up fully with her metal bar now clean in her hands, she pulled back out her phone, turning to Link to snap other pictures again. While she had her back turned Link had moved closer to her, now both of their faces close. "What-" She was cut off when Link mushed his lips on hers.

The two stayed frozen for a while, Link slightly on his tippy toes to reach Halan. His eyes were squeezed shut and he held his breath as their lips just touched. He could feel the slightly rough skin of the scar on her lips, it was a bit like putting his lips on wood. He pulled away awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck as he looked away. She then grabbed his jaw with her hand, he gulped nervously and shivered, the cold catching him as he wasn't moving around anymore. "Ah-" His yelp got cut off as she hungrily kissed him, an arm around his back that held him close to her and a hand that played in his hair. He puts his arms around her shoulders, a bit unsure where else to put them as she kissed him. The hand in his hair moved to trace one of his pointy ears, getting a grunt out of him. "S-stop touch-mph-" He tried to tell with an annoyed tone, but she took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. Their tongues and saliva mixing. It was a bit uncomfortable, her sharp teeth scraping against his teeth and he choked a bit on her saliva.

She pulled away to let him breathe, he panted, coughing slightly as he swallowed the excess of saliva that had accumulated in his mouth. He had drool rolling down the corners of his mouth, his eyes half lidded as his foggy breath came out in puffs. She chuckled at the sight, putting her phone up to his face before taking a few pictures of him. He frowned, feeling annoyed that she didn't seem to take what happened seriously. He started to push her away as she put her phone back in one of her pockets, but she didn't budge as he tried to push her away by her shoulders. She kept him close, their bodies flushed against each other as she peppered his face in kisses, a few under his jaw. "Thank you" She muttered softly against his skin after each kiss, he recognized the words she had said often. He felt all warm and fuzzy as she rubbed his back while she continued with the kisses.

After a few minutes she let go of him, her eyes calmly looking him over with a slight smile on her face. "Let's go inside, home" She said calmly as she pointed between the two of them and to the tree house. He climbed the ladder after wiping off all the drool as she began to pick up her stuff that she had left on the ground, having gotten rid of the accessories of her outfit during the training session. She climbed the ladder after him, getting inside the house. "Home"! She said out of habit as she left her stuff at the entrance. "Home" Link replied out of habit, his voice a bit strained as he sat at the table, nervously fidgeting as he seemed more interested in looking at the wooden table than anything else.

——————————

——————————

The two teenagers laid in their separate beds, the two restless. It was quite normal for Halan, she would often stay awake late at night, often cleaning her gun and roaming around the house, thinking about stuff before going to bed. However Link, who usually could pass out as soon as he laid on his bed, was staring up at his ceiling with wide eyes. He heard Halan get up and start cleaning her gun. He had caught her doing that kind of stuff at night a few times by now, so he wasn't surprised. He still felt warm, his tummy tingling and his heart almost beating out of his chest as he tried to breathe calmly. He felt amazing about the situation, but he also feels like he could throw up. His body shaking in sync with his heartbeat as he heard her finish cleaning her gun and was now making her way out of the house.

Halan had gone patrolling around the village, something she didn't often do anymore. She had stopped when she realized that the village was fully peaceful and wasn't even a hideout for illegal activities. Now only doing patrols from time to time or if she felt like she needed to do something before going to bed. She roamed around the village while trying to choose between listening to ASMR or just relaxing music. Trying to calm the rush of excitement that coursed through her body with either choice. She chose ASMR at the end. "Holy....I bet he whimpers" She murmured to herself as she looked down at her phone, the pictures she took hours ago on the screen. She did a few rounds of patrol, she was still walking around the village when everyone had woken up and were walking around in the village. Link wasn't able to sleep that night either, having to get out of bed early to take care of the animals. He rode Epona in a daze, he wasn't used to not sleeping unlike Halan that could stay awake multiple days in a row.

He felt like he couldn't think, still replaying the kissing with wide eyes. He felt a bit embarrassed about his lack of dominance in the kissing. He had heard from most of the men he had been around that a man should be dominant for a woman to like him. It didn't really sit right with him, preferring to treat anyone equally and even not really minding the thoughts of letting a woman be more dominant than him. Now he was massively freaking out, rethinking all of what had happened the day before. He wanted to bury himself in a hole and never get out. He eventually arrived at the ranch, tying Epona to the wooden fence after getting off the horse. He made his way to the barn, stiffly walking around, starting his work day with feeding the animals.

"Link? You ok? You look like you're having a heart attack" Fado asked Link with a sweat drop, looking at Link stiffly walking around. Link simply gave Fado a thumbs up and a shaky smile before returning to work. It didn't really make Fado less concerned, but he was sure Link wouldn't actually have a heart attack so he didn't question the shaken up teenager further. 'She always seems so serious, does she really like me at all'? Link thinks to himself as he works, shovelling hay with a pitchfork. 'She was so gentle' Link thinks to himself as he parted his lips, his eyes half lidded as he thinks back to how Halan kissed him. Sure she had seemed a bit rough and eager at first, but she had been unusually gentle. She had not really treated him gently since the first time they met, so he had assumed that at the very least she thought of him as a friend. The gentleness of the kiss had surprised him, she made sure her teeth wouldn't snag his skin. He remembered the feeling of her hands on him, curious and playful, making him shivering as he remembered it.

——————————

——————————

Uli watched as the two teenagers acted more awkward around each other than usual as the taller prepared the food. For the past week the two seemed to not be sleeping at night. Halan had been seen patrolling around the village at night again like she did the first few months of arriving here. Fado had told Uli about Link seemingly about ready to keel over every day all week during his workday. 'Something definitely happened between these lovebirds' Uli thinks to herself as she brings the bowl of stew to her lips to sip on the broth, watching as the two that sat opposite to each other. Link not leaving his gaze from the food he was eating like it would curse him to look away from his food. Halan was eating with less tenseness compared to Link. "So you two courted"? Uli asked Link with a grin, making the said teenager choke on his food slightly, coughing with his hand in front of his mouth. Halan looked up from her food with a raised eyebrow, confused why Link choked on the food.

"Uh-" Link squeaked a bit before looking down at his plate with a flush, the point of his pointy ears red. Uli chuckled at his flustered state before continuing to eat. Halan looked between the two in her confusion, but shrugged and returned to eating her food. The three of them eventually finished eating their food, Halan standing up to take the plates, bowls and utensils to clean everything. Chatting to herself as she cleaned up the kitchen, listening to music with her earphones. After finishing cleaning everything, both teenagers said their goodnights to Uli before walking out the door to walk back to their house. Link was riding on Epona as Halan walked on foot beside him and the horse. Link had offered Halan to ride Epona multiple times in the past, but she didn't seem to even want to be near the horse.

The two arrived home quietly, the taller teenager feeling annoyed with the situation. "I wish that we could understand each other just to get rid of the awkwardness" Halan mumbled to herself with a sigh, putting her stuff away, before she suddenly turned to him, trapping him in between her and the wooden wall. His eyes widened as he looked up slightly at Halan with a gulp. 'What is she doing'? He thinks to himself nervously as his eyes flickered to her covered mouth. She hugged him close, dragging both of them on her bed to cuddle him. She hoped that the closeness made her message clear about how she is feeling, not usually being that close with others except Uli. The two went to sleep, finally being able to get a good night's sleep after the long week of not sleeping for Halan and barely sleeping for Link.

Hi, author here! I finally finished this chapter with about 4800 words. I've had to do other stuff with being the holidays and all. Also the writing style I've been using takes more time overall. I write like about half the chapter without really stopping, usually in one sitting. I have less ideas and motivation, I then go and change, correct and rewrite the paragraphs I've had written. It takes time, but the end result is better written and it makes me satisfied with what I've written. (I locked in)

The tradition of Hylians giving shiny things for courting is a headcanon of mine. I like to develop my stories with the traditional stuff. Because this is a fantasy background, not everyone is human.

Also Halan is in fact not human, Uli is not just paranoid. I'll make a chapter explaining overall what she is at some point, with also details about her. Halan does come from an alternative earth like ours, but because of her background, it's unclear if Legend of Zelda was a thing there at all.

Also shoutout to Kumo and Aura asmr artists. They're amazing as background noise and also give tingles.

Chapter 5: Hearts

Summary:

The game starts

Notes:

Hi, author here! I'm not stopping the grind. I'm locking in chat. Link will in fact be different when the player is able to control him, like the Undertale effect. I haven't played it for myself, so I try to imagine how Philza minecraft would act while playing the game for some reason? He didn't play Twilight Princess, he did play breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom.

3rd POV

——————————

——————————

Halan woke up from her slumber with a startle when Link started to move off from being on top of her. The young village children voices screaming for Link outside of the couple's shared house. The two now sleeping on the same bed together, they had gotten a bigger bed to be able to at least move during their sleep. They had installed their sleeping space on the highest floor of the house, where the window was. In exchange they traded their two smaller, separated beds for the bigger bed, giving one to Sera and giving back one to Uli that had been given for Halan. Link would often end up being more on top of her while they slept, being the smaller, lighter one and moving the most of either of them. The two also would sleep more overall, Link getting his rest, Halan having a less chaotic sleep schedule as she felt more relaxed to go to sleep at about the same time Link would go to sleep at. Halan would usually sleep like the dead, not really move during her sleep often, sleeping on her back or side the whole night. The duo didn't end up in really weird positions often, but it still happens on rare occasions, like when Link would have nightmares.

"Fucking kids" Halan grumbled with a grunt as she propped herself up on the bed with her arms, looking over at Link who was looking out of the window. She passed her left hand through her bi-coloured hair. "You need to tell those kids to stop-" Halan's sentence cuts off slightly when her eyes catch the three little red hearts floating above him on his left side. "Bothering us so early in the morning..." She finished her sentence while trailing it off slightly, even if she knew that he couldn't really understand what she had said. 'They're there again, just like yesterday' The older being thinks to herself with confusion. Halan had seen the hearts yesterday when he would sometimes walk past her while she was working on the pumpkin patches. She had thought that she was simply seeing things wrong, but now it couldn't really be explained. She reached her right hand out to the hearts while his back was turned to her as he looked out the window to look at the children outside. Her hand passed through the hearts like it was an hologram.

He had been acting odd since yesterday, almost like he wasn't himself. Walking everywhere like it was all new to him and he was even more quiet than normal, somehow. He would sometimes come back a bit like himself again when the small hearts weren't visible. By now he was currently looking at her blankly before walking around the bed and climbing down the ladder to get to the rest of the house. She started to get dressed, putting on her compression shirt, her compression high tights, pants, the pockets on her belt, wrapped the bandages around her arms and put on her fingerless gloves as Link tried to get out of the house only to be stopped by the door like it was a solid wall. He stopped trying to go through the door and turned to look at Halan while she finished putting on her boots. She walked around the bed and over to the ladder and climbed down.

She walked to the kitchen to start making breakfast as Link walked around the house like he hasn't been living in it for years. She made scrambled eggs, potatoes and some meat for their breakfast. When she set the plate down on the table, he sat down at the table soon after. He finally started to act more like himself, his movements more free as he ate his breakfast, even if he didn't talk at all, the hearts not visible at the moment. After eating he got off the chair, walking close to her as she put her own plate on the table, the hearts visible again, his face stoic and his eyes empty of light of his dark blue eyes. He then ran out the door after having stared at her blankly for a minute, leaving Halan confused as she sat at the table, her plate in front of her. "Weird" She mumbled to herself as she pulled down the clothing covering her lower part of her face to start eating her plate of breakfast.

After finishing eating and cleaning up the kitchen she began preparing to go outside to get to work for the day. She tied her hoodie around her shoulders as she tidied her clothes on her before opening the front door and going outside. Jumping off the ledge instead of climbing down the ladder outside of the house. Yawning as she walked towards the village to take care of the farm lands, looking up at the sky as she stretched her arms over her head as she walked past Hanch who was looking up at a nest of hornets. "Damn, that's some unlucky situation" Halan said with a chuckle as she looked up at the nest, her hands on her hips. Hanch looked a bit worried, unsure if what Halan said was bad or not, him being one of the people that was still wary of the strange being. Her sudden appearance in the village was even more strange than when Link got in the village out of nowhere.

The tall woman continued her walk to the nearest patch of soil as Link ran out of Sera's shop or home, Halan didn't care enough to properly know about the older woman. Halan watched from the edge of her field of view as he made his way directly towards Uli who was standing near the little stream of water, holding blankets in her hands. Uli seemed concerned as she talked to Link, pointing vaguely towards the water. Halan stopped watering the pumpkins to look at the water with a raised eyebrow, but simply shrugged and continued working on watering the soil. As she made sure all the pumpkins in this patch of soil were growing correctly after she watered them. She sensed Link walking behind her, earring Jaggle talk to her boyfriend when he got in earshot while he stood on top of one of the nearest of many stone pillars. Jaggle talked about whatever to Link before the younger male climbed the vines on the side of the stone pillar, talking about whatever some more before Link jumped pillar to pillar.

Halan had finished checking up on all of the small patches of pumpkins one by one. Moving to the patch close to Uli's and Rusl's house, the smallest patch was easy to forget to take care of. While working on this patch of pumpkins, she saw Link holding a cradle over his head as he walked behind Uli who was walking to her house with the pregnant waddle. Link puts the cradle close to the steps before Uli gives him a one handed fishing rod. He ran off again as Uli sat down to rest, being in her late third trimester. Halan came over when she finished working on the small patch of pumpkins, starting to take off the extra clothing as she knew planting the potatoes in the bigger patches of soils would make her all dirty. Giving her hoodie to the pregnant woman as she stood beside her sitting form, letting the woman smell it while keeping it clean from the work she does. "He's been acting kinda weird since yesterday or is it just me"? Halan spoke out loud as she watched Link start fishing with the most stiff pose she had ever seen him do. "Can you stop talking like everyone knows what you're saying and will actually reply" Uli said with a sweatdrop as Halan speaking like that would sometimes freak her out, because of how Halan seemed so confident in her speech.

——————————

Halan walked beside Ilia while cleaning off the dirt and grime from her skin with a cloth Ilia gave her. It was kinda funny to see the size difference between the two girls as they walked beside each other. Giving back the cloth to Ilia when she was done cleaning off the dirt off of her skin. Stopping when the two girls met with Link, Bo and Epona in the middle of the path. Ilia went to Epona, petting the horse with care as Halan sent a glare at the horse. Link was with Bo, having a conversation with Link while he was a bit more like himself again. "Did you overworked Epona again? Link, it looks like she's hurt"! Ilia suddenly became angry, pointing between Link and the horse. The two men wincing at the tone she had used, Halan managed to take a picture of the face Link made while he winced, letting out a chuckle as she looked at the picture of the weird face he made on the screen.

Bo and Link seemingly tried to resonate with Ilia and explain what happened, but she ignored the two men, turning her back so she wouldn't see the hand sign Link used. With a scoff Ilia led the horse somewhere else, most likely the spirit spring as the taller woman saw Ilia give baths often to the horse there. Halan put her phone back in her belt pocket as Link and Bo watched Ilia walk away with a bewildered expression. Halan walked away to properly clean off the dirt from her skin before putting back on her bandages and fingerless gloves. Walking back to the house to make a plate of fruits for Link while he probably went back to get Epona back from Ilia. While she finished putting the cut fruits on the plate, she had a bad feeling jolted through her. Freezing up before she could even pick up the finished plate. She walked over to the nearest window and saw the noticeable darkness that seemed to seep everywhere. "What the fuck is going on"? She said out loud, a slight feeling of dread as she watched the darkness wrapping around the village.

She untied her hoodie from around her shoulders before putting it on properly, putting her phone and electronics into a sealed bag to put safely into its belt pocket as she walked over to her gun and metal bar on a shelf. She slings the gun over her left shoulder, grabbing the metal bar before opening the door to the outside. The darkness got more and more intense by the second as she walked towards the village to figure out what's going on. When she arrived at the center of the village, she looked around in surprise as it was practically abandoned, the only things alive here were the farm animals, birds, insects and fishes much to her confusion. Her eyes were wide as she looked around, a weird looking creature that had been sneakily stalking Halan suddenly lunged at her, but it went right through her. "What the fuck are you supposed to be? A scary monster"? The partly gray haired woman said with a disgusted tone as she lifted her right arm, metal bar in hand and swung it down. It cracked with a loud crunch the weird plate thing on its head, slamming it against the ground, it squealed and disappeared in a puff of weird smoke.

——————————

——————————

Halan had made her way out of the village for the first time since she had ended up in this world. Crossing the wooden bridge, looking around to the creek under her that was separating the village from a bigger forest. "I've never been outside of the village before, I hope I won't get lost. That'd be embarrassing" She mumbled to herself as her eyes looked over her surroundings around herself as she entered the forest. Her boots making smush sounds against the forest soil as she walked. She was trying to keep herself on the slightly wet dirt path, her right hand on her belt, her left hand holding the metal bar. 'This is getting really annoying, holding this thing all the time' Halan thinks to herself with her eyebrows furrowed. "I didn't get any kisses before he left" The partly gray haired woman whined with a groan, dramatically screwing her eyes shut while her head tilted up toward the sky.

While her dramatic act she almost tripped over a wooden bridge wobbling slightly as she took a step back to regain a proper footing. She observed between the bridge and the path she passed earlier debating if she should walk back or continue. She decided to continue on a straight path. Her boots tracking mud on the wooden planks of the bridge, her steps not sounding mushy anymore as she walked. She sighed as she crossed the small bridge, she continued onto the straight path of now dry dirt. "I hope this is the right path. I wish I had a map of this world. I'm just going on luck at this point and I'm not going to hang on to that luck for that much longer" She spoke out loud to herself as she continued on the path. Halan felt uneasy as she walked along the path, there weren't a lot of places to hide, not even trees close by.

"Hey"! A voice suddenly screamed out from the silent flat fields. It startled Halan her head turned to the voice to see some guy in a white tank-top and booty shorts running towards her with an annoying pant. "Mail for Halan" The guy said as he stopped in front of her, grabbing about a dozen of envelopes from his bag. "Mail? yeah I'm Halan, give those to me" She muttered as she got the envelopes handed to her in her right hand. "You need to sign on this paper so I can match it to the example I've been given" He said as he pulled out a clipboard with a bunch of papers clipped to it. It had a box at the end of the document that looked like actual gibberish to Halan. She sighed, putting her metal bar between her shirt and hoodie. She than pulled down her mask, biting her thumb with her sharp teeth to draw blood, digging her index fingernail to get the blood on it. She used her finger as a makeshift pen to sign the papers. He briefly checked, but before she could even question the situation, the guy sprinted off, leaving her in the dust with a bewildered look, mail in hand.

"Wow, that guy with the booty shorts is actually quite fast, that's dedication like I've never seen" She mumbled to herself as she watched the guy get smaller and smaller in the distance as he continued his sprinting. She looked down at the envelopes in her right hand, she was surprised that they seemed to be written in languages she understood. She put them away in her hoodie pocket after quickly observing the letters. Getting her metal bar from her back, before continuing her walk to hopefully where Link is. She finally saw a town in front of her, she sped up her walking towards the town. It was dark, empty and raining when she entered the town. 'It's a lot bigger now that I'm inside the town' She thinks to herself as she walks along the streets of the town that was weirdly empty, a lot of vendors set up, but nobody was around in the streets. The tall woman after spotting a bunch of food decided that it was time to have her fill of food, taking her time to stop at different stands that seemed to sell food. 'I have a feeling that I'll need the extra energy' She thinks to herself as she snacked on everything that looked like it would fill a lot of energy, only chewing to make more space for more food, putting more food in her mouth to eat before even fully chewing any of it.

She continued her patrol around the empty town with a yawn being late in the day by now, which was hard to notice due to the darkness already enveloping the town. "At least it stopped raining, I didn't want my mail to get soaked" She said out loud to herself as she quietly walked the streets of this big unknown empty town. She tried to open the door to a building that had a bed on the wooden sign in front of the store, but it was locked, she simply went through the door. Peeking her head inside to look before fully entering the inn, it looked kind of cozy inside. She walked to the beds, observing that the beds looked at least bearable to sleep in. So she laid on one of the beds, hugging her metal bar as she laid on her side. 'I won't be wasting any more energy walking around, if me and Link walk around all the time, we'll always miss each other. I still have no idea how big this world is' She thinks to herself as she starts to doze off.

——————————

——————————

Halan ended up not even being able to sleep for more than an hour, sitting up as she opened her mail, it wasn't anything important so she just threw the letters in the fireplace before making her way out of the inn. 'I don't really care about waiting for him anymore, I'll just walk around to get to him before he ends up killing himself doing something dumb' She thought to herself as she peeked her head outside of the inn as she made sure nothing would jump out at her outside. She fully phased through the door again before making her way to another exit of the big town, walking with slight frustration in her steps. She followed the path that would probably get her back towards Ordon village, only to be stopped when the second bridge was in fact not there. "Are you fucking kidding me"! She exclaimed in frustration as she groaned, turning towards another path she hasn't taken before and followed it. "I'm not going back to that damn town" She grumbled to herself as she quickly followed the new path that she chose.

After a long winding path she reached a gate with what looked like blood on it, she phased through the gate entering the new village. The village was also empty but it was not as creepy as how empty the big town was. The village reminded Halan of the Ordon village for some reason even if nothing was like Ordon, this village having rock walls around and being way smaller than Ordon village. There were those weird monsters roaming around the sandy grounds, she simply went to the nearest house that seemed secure and cozy. She phased through the wall and let herself fall on the bed. She finally felt like she could sleep for a while without waking up after only an hour. Dozing off on her side as her eyes looked at the yellow wall while she hugged her metal bar again.

——————————

——————————

Halan woke up with a jolt when she heard a loud bang in the room she was sleeping in. She sat up quickly and threw off the blanket that was messily on top of her body or around her, but at least a little tangled in the blanket. She came face to face with a big ass wolf and some shadow elf thing. "What the fuck" Halan exclaimed with a blank look before the wolf jumped on the bed with her and began licking Halan all over her face that wasn't covered. "Ugh, ok get off, where'd you even come from"? She said in confusion and annoyance as she closed her eyes to avoid getting an eyeball lick. She tried to lean away from the wolf, only for it to get even more in her personal space. "Wow you hang out with weird people, Link. She can stay normal in the twilight realm and light realm. Is she some kind of monster"? The shadow elf thing exclaimed with a laugh as she watched Halan and the wolf on the bed. Wolf Link growled at what the elf shadow thing said about him having a monster girlfriend. "Wait, Link"? Halan said with a raised eyebrow as she pointed to the big ass wolf, he huffed meekly like a puppy that got reprimanded for doing something stupid.

Halan busted out laughing as she pointed to the wolf who was in fact Link. Her mind picturing that picture of the werewolf tearing its shirt in two on its knees in a forest at night. She imagined Link doing the same thing as he transformed into that big ass wolf. "How did this even happen"?! She asked while laughing, he huffed again, not very impressed with her laughing at him. "This is quite entertaining, your mate laughing at you" The shadow elf thing exclaimed with a chuckle as she watched the scene play out. "I'm Midna just for the record" Midna introduced herself to Halan hoping that the woman could at least understand that she just introduced herself, chuckling as she leaned back. "Midna? I'm Halan" She replied after she took a hold of herself to stop her laughing to make it possible to introduce herself at least clearly.

Halan shooed Link off of the bed so she could get up from the bed, Link jumping off of the bed to let her get up from it. She stood in the middle of the room as she stretched, looking around as she saw the dressers tipped over on the floor. "What even happened here"? She muttered to herself with a sigh. "Whatever" She added blankly with a shrug. Link made circles around her legs as she fully woke up, his tail wagging as he sniffed and rubbed on her legs. 'That's strange he acts more like himself in this wolf form' Halan thinks to herself in slight surprise as she stopped him to pet his fur. "Well aren't you a good puppy" She said with a chuckle as she scratched around his neck while he nuzzled into her stomach with his snout, his tail wagging as fast as it could wag.

Halan decided to follow along for the adventure, walking behind wolf Link as Midna rode on wolf Link's back, not questioning the stuff that was happening around the trio. 'So he's the one that helps here? Hero of this world uh'? She thinks to herself as she follows along, Midna observing the new addition as she leaned back on wolf Link's back as he trotted forward. 'Now he just jumps around like an hyperactive husky' She thinks to herself with an amused expression as Link turned around for the fifth something time for more head pats from Halan. The trio finished getting whatever they needed, Midna not doing much, Halan killing off the monsters in their path as Link got what he needed to complete the mission. "What even are those things"? Halan grumbled as she saw the weird image of a vine of blue grapes floating above his head like his three little red hearts. 'Oh he has four little hearts now, that's so weird' She thought to herself as her eyes looked over the hearts.

——————————

Link was walking out of the water with a sigh after becoming human again and after talking to the land protector of the light or something. Colin, Beth, Talo and Malo noticed Link walking out of the water. Colin tried to run up to Link first, but got pushed down by Talo, making him fall on his face and making all the happy, relieved feelings leave his body. Talo and Beth made it to Link first, Malo walking more slowly as he side eyed Colin. The light blond boy got up with a slight groan as Renado, Barnes and Luda made their way out of the house to go see Link too. Colin walking slightly behind the three of them as the rest of the children jumped around Link, happy that he was back to help them. "So you are the one the children were waiting for to rescue us"? Renado asked calmly after he introduced himself and his daughter, leaving Barnes out of the introduction so he had to introduce himself separately. Link nob at the question and the introductions as he scratched the back of his head sheepishly.

"Wait, where is Halan? Why isn't she with you"? Colin asked Link with a slightly concerned expression on his face. The other children groaned as her name was mentioned, clearly having distaste for the name. It made Renado curious at the name that the children didn't mention before and now most of the children didn't seem happy about it being mentioned. The name Halan having never been mentioned before now, only having mentioned Link and that he would come save them from the monsters. "Halan? Who is she? You never spoke of her until now" Renado asked the children calmly as he looked down at the group of children before looking towards Link for a moment. "The children only mentioned you as the one who would come to save us" Renado added curiously as he raised an eyebrow as he returned to looking down at the young children, missing the hand signs that Link was trying to put together quickly to show the answers to his questions.

"Halan is his girlfriend" Talo exclaimed out loud with a grunt before even letting Link explain it himself. "We don't like her. She's creepy and mean" Beth added with a scoff crossing her arms in front of her chest. "She is not bad, she works in the village almost everyday and helps my pregnant mother almost every evening" Colin interjected with a slight frown, upset about the other children insulting Halan. "Don't you find it weird that Link and Halan are together now? She almost killed him when she first arrived in the village" Talo added to the argument with a slightly mocking tone as he vaguely spoke to Colin. "Our theory is that she used dark magic to seduce him" Malo exclaimed with a quiet mumble with a sigh. Link began to wave his arms to get their attention so he could sign out an explanation to try diffusing the situation.

"Are y'all talking about me without me being here"? Halan's voice exclaimed from behind everyone, making them all jump from her sudden appearance. All the children including Barnes froze in their spots before slowly turning to face the woman that had just made her presence known. 'They were definitely talking shit' Halan thinks to herself as she looks at everyone, analyzing the new people of the group that she hasn't met yet. Renado calmly turned to the taller woman with a calm expression. "So you are Halan? I'm Ronado, this is my daughter Luda and this is Barnes" Ronado introduced himself and his daughter with a soft smile. Adding Barnes reluctantly with a sigh and a less happy voice. "I'm assuming that you introduced yourself and the others I didn't know about because half of what you said sounded like names" Halan said with a sigh as she made a slight bow and a wave as the usual greeting she adapted for this world.

"Oh yeah we also forgot to mention that she doesn't speak, write, understand or read our language. So we have no idea what she's doing or saying most of the time" Beth informed with a scoff as she rolled her eyes. "That seems like it would be getting confusing all the time" Barnes said as he looked cautiously at the tall woman. "It actually isn't that bad, she usually just mind her business" Malo exclaimed quietly with a sigh. "You don't say"? Luda replied with a hum as she tilted her head to the right. "Halan, where were you"? Colin asked Halan with a concerned look on his face as he got closer to her, tugging at her pant leg as he looked up at the woman, hoping to grab her attention. "Don't worry about it" She replied blankly as she reached out to ruffle his hair briefly with her left hand, having to lean down slightly to reach his hair. Colin nob with furrowed eyebrows. He had come to understand a few English words from her as Halan spent a lot of time at his house with Uli and spoke to herself out loud. 'Gosh does he have the worst bowl cut I've ever seen' Halan thinks to herself as she calmly walks up to Link.

"What the hell happened to your clothes"? Halan exclaimed with a slight upset frown as she pointed to Link. He looked down at himself with a raised eyebrow. 'DAMN IT, HIS HOT FARMER GUY CLOTHES ARE GONE! CURSE YOU WORLD! WHY DO YOU TAKE AWAY MY WILL TO LIVE'! Halan crashed out internally almost willing to fall to the ground and pound her fist against the sand dramatically. She ended up giving up on the idea because it would be too much dramatic energy and there was a crowd that would witness her what would be a very not professional behaviour. 'I guess the formal adventure theme clothing is also kinda hot' Halan thinks to herself as she eyed Link's outfit up and down. She lifted the metal bar, pitching it down on the sand before pulling out her phone from her belt pocket. She opened the sealing pocket to get to the phone before taking pictures of Link in the new outfit. She put back her phone in the sealing pocket, closing it and putting the sealed pocket before putting it back in her belt pocket.

Link was invited to rest for the rest of the evening, eating some food and finally being able to get some sleep after being awake for almost two days. The couple were getting ready for bed, Link taking off all the extra layers of his outfit, putting away his green tunic, leaving himself in only his trousers to go to sleep in. He now understood the struggle of putting away all the tools before going to bed that Halan had experienced every night before the adventure even began. He glanced back at Halan as she finished putting away the bandages that were on her arms, finally being able to take off her compression shirt. After taking off her pants after untying her boots and taking them off. Link going over the plans of what he had to do next tomorrow as she did her nightly routine. The couple walked towards the bed after having finally taken care of their stuff and plans to be ready for tomorrow.

Link joined her under the covers as he yawned, the two sharing a quick kiss before he started to settle with her on the bed for the night. He shuffled under the covers to get his right leg over her legs without making the blanket fly off of the bed. His head laid on her right bicep for support instead of a pillow, part of his face flushed against the side of her right breast, feeling her familiar weird warmth coming from her chest. He hugged the middle of her torso from the side as she simply laid still on her back like a plank. She let his left arm phase through her so his arm doesn't go numb from it being stuck under her for the whole night. He was already asleep as soon as he got comfortable against her as she stared up at the ceiling, thinking back on all the recent events before closing her eyes and letting her body rest.

——————————

——————————

The next day as the couple were asleep they were suddenly woken up by Talo, the over energetic boy coming to jump on their bed they were laying in. Jumping on Link's stomach, making him wheeze with a groan as he groggily rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Halan woke up as well when she felt Link move away from her, feeling Link's arm phase out of her as he sat up. "I fucking hate that kid" She mumbled with a growl and a sigh as she sat up on the bed. Talo tugged on Link's arm to get him out of bed, probably whining at him to get up and get dressed for what she assumed would be breakfast. She watched blankly as Link got dragged out of bed by the little boy to get dressed for the day. Walking out of the room after being fully dressed for the day. Halan got up from the bed afterwards with a stretch and a yawn. She then started to get ready for the day too, first deciding to get dressed and cleaning her tools for the day ahead.

Halan stepped out of the bedroom after getting dressed for the day and cleaning her tools since she didn't have time to clean them yesterday before going to bed. She was greeted with the sight of everyone sitting around a big table eating breakfast, some looking up to see Halan enter the room. She walked over to an open seat between Colin and Ronado, sitting down as she observed what is served for breakfast. She uncovered her mouth to eat, the people that hadn't seen her face uncovered yet stared at her jaw or the scar in between her jaw and her skull. She ate the food quickly as Link was finishing up eating his food and preparing to go outside to continue the adventure. She vaguely thanked everyone for the food and shelter as she gathered her tools to follow him. "Where are we going now"? Halan asked with a sigh as she held his left bicep as they stood by the front door of the house. He looked at her for a moment before he made a mountain gesture with his hands. "I don't even know why I asked" She muttered to herself with a blank expression on her face.

The two stepped outside, squinting her eyes at the bright light. She saw his hearts appear again, floating over him as his eyes became blank again. She took her hand off of him as his muscles seemed to all tense up when the heart appeared again. 'Jeez, he does change when he has those hearts. He managed to be even more stiff' She thinks to herself with narrowed eyes. They walked towards the mountains or volcano, not that Halan cared about the specifics. As they started to walk out of the town, she noticed that Midna was nowhere to be seen since yesterday when she finally saw Link in his mostly normal form, to which Halan assumed that the little creature couldn't appear during the day or something like that.

When the two arrived at the lower part of the mountain volcano, they came across a net that helped with climbing a high ledge. The taller woman watched as Link, her phone taking pictures of him as he climbed the ledge after he signalled her to wait for his signal to climb. She put away her phone after he walked out of view, putting her right hand on her hip as she waited for his signal. A few moments later she heard a shout and saw Link fall backwards off of the ledge. She let go of her metal bar to catch him from falling to the ground holding him like a princess, a weird rock person shouting at them about something before walking away. She put Link down upright on his feet after a few seconds. "Seems like we have to find another way to get there" She muttered with a sigh as she bent down to pick up the pole off of the ground.

They walked back down the mountain volcano towards the village, Halan not too pleased about the waste of time. At the base of the mountain volcano stood Ronado with a slight worried look on his face. "Ah how fortunate you are in one piece. I saw the two of you heading up the mountain trail, so I was worried" He said in a mostly calm voice much to Halan confusion as she looked at the two men with a raised eyebrow. Link gave a small nob to what the older man said. "Are you two trying to reach the Gorons of Death Mountain"? He asked calmly with his head tilted to which Link nob again more clearly. "It's dangerous to just go like that. They recognize only strength, a normal person couldn't persuade them" He added new information to Link, who turned to look at Halan for a moment who had a hand on her hip as she looked at the two men blankly.

"But...I do know one person who was able to best them and earn their trust" Ronado continued which caught the attention of Link. 'Oh lord have mercy this is a video game and I'm somehow inside it or something' Halan thought to herself with a frown as she finally realized what was happening. "His name is Bo, you may know him, he is the mayor of Ordon village" He exclaimed to the two of them, the two now interested in what he said. Halan more of confusion as the mayor of where she first end up was mentioned. 'Oh god, Link is going to have to go to a bunch of people for information on the lore' Halan thinks to herself, wanting to facepalm at the fact that she is going to be strung along with all the dialogue. "Go to him for advice and let him know that the children are safe" Renado said to Link, pointing at the younger male as he spoke of the children. The said younger male gave another nob at the words. "We shouldn't risk moving on the road in case we come across more monsters. Please, return to Ordon and inform the parents that their children are free from harm. Give them my word" He finished to inform Link with a more firm tone. He gave Link a kind smile and a pat on the shoulder.

——————————

——————————

The two returned to the village to go back to Ordon. In the middle of the village Link stopped and the hearts disappeared again. Halan noticed it, raising a curious eyebrow. 'That's strange, the hearts usually disappear when he talks to people' Halan thinks to herself as she frowns. The two notice something running at them, whatever it is, it is getting closer and closer fast. They realize that it was Epona that was running in a seemingly panicked manner directly at them. "Oh shit"! Halan exclaimed loudly as she and Link dove out of the way in time to dodge the panicked horse. Halan forgot that she could have just let the horse phase through her without moving. Link got up quickly in time to throw himself on the panicked horse that had momentarily stopped to take a turn. Link managed to hang onto the horse as it ran around in circles, Halan sitting up with a groan as this time she let the horse phase through her this time.

Link finally managed to calm down the horse as he properly sat on it as it walked more calmly for a moment before finally giving full control to the Hylian male. "Hmm...You're not too shabby a wrangler after all" Midna said teasingly as she showed herself in a shaded form, catching the attention of Link as he sat on Epona. "Won't this make getting back to your town a lot easier"? She asked him as she pointed at the horse he was sitting on with a smirk on her face. Halan finally got up after making sure nothing else would happen. "Go do your things so we can continue moving" Midna finished saying as Halan stood beside them, she returned inside of Link's shadow after. The hearts came back as he returned his attention to where they had to go. Halan took this time to put her metal pole and gun on the horse so she could run along without holding on to the tools.

She ran beside the horse, stopping when he stopped, he pointed to the ground beside the horse. Halan walked over and looked down, seeing a bug on the ground, she picked it up and handed it to Link who put it in his pocket. He continued on the horse, Halan starting to run again before a shout was heard and the two stopped again. "MR. LINK WAAAAIT"! A familiar voice shouted, the two looking around for a second before finding a man running towards them. 'It's the booty short guy'?! Halan thinks to herself with a confused look on her face, peeking over the horse to see the mailman running towards them. "Greetings, Mr. Link"! He said as he stopped in front of the horse. "I have come to deliver a letter" He added as he reached into the bag on his back. "It is a letter from Ooccoo" He announced as he handed the letter to Link who put it in his pocket. "Well, my business is concluded, onward to mail"! He exclaimed loudly before turning around and sprinting away from the couple.

"He's insane" Halan said with a chuckle as she watched him run while Link was reading the letter intently. Link put the letter away, Halan preparing to continue running alongside him with a chuckle. Link led the way as they crossed the wooden bridge towards Goron village. Stopping again for her to pick up a bug, continuing for a while before making a hard turn on a hill. She watched as he got off the horse, pulled out a boomerang, aimed it and threw it towards rocks. It came back with a mini tornado around it and a piece of glass heart. "What the"? She muttered as she watched everything go down. He held the piece, pulling out an almost full heart, he put the piece in place and now he had five hearts. 'So that's how he gets more hearts'? Halan thinks to herself with her head tilted as she watches Link get back on Epona.

——————————

——————————

Both finally arrived at the springs close to their tree house, Halan right behind him as she sighed. "Damn, I feel kinda nostalgic for some reason" She muttered to herself as she looked at the waterfall, before noticing a big ass gold white wolf who was sitting on the side calmly. "What the fuck"? She said out loud blankly as she looked at the wolf, Link following where she was looking. He noticed the wolf from before, getting off of Epona before walking closer to the gold wolf. "Hey Link, what are you doing"? Halan said with a worried tone as she followed right behind him, her hand slightly pulled up. The wolf suddenly lunged at them. "Oh shit! MR. PRESIDENT GET DOWN"! Halan yelped as she tried to grab him to get him out of the way, only to end up making the two of them fall back as the wolf touched them.

Link landed on his back on solid ground instead of the sand, Halan landing on him, making him groan at the weight on top of him. He tugged at her clothes to get her attention so he could make her get off of him. She sat up, finally getting off of him, much to his relief. Link sat up with a grunt as Halan narrowed her eyes at the bright world around them. Their eyes fell on the wolf close by, who howled and transformed into a ghost? Much to Halan bewilderment. "Am I going schizo"? She muttered to herself as she watched Link get up, facing the ghost. "We meet again" The ghost said calmly to Link ignoring Halan completely. "And it talks too, great" She mumbled with a sigh, deciding to just sit this one out as Link seemed to know what he was doing.

"You have a little more of the look of a hero than you did before... Do you feel ready to earn your next skill"? He, with how deep the voice was that Halan assumed that the ghost was a man, said calmly to Link, who gave a nob at the words. 'I like his voice, I wonder what he sounded like when he was alive' Halan thought to herself as she watched the two men prepare for what seemed to be a training session. Link pulled out his sword, landing blows against the male ghost until he was sent on his back on the ground. Link jumped on him with his sword plunging in the chest of the ghost, making a backflip to get off of the man lying on the ground. The two stood in front of each other for a moment after the ghost stood back up. "Excellent, it appears you are capable of performing my lost art" The ghostly man said calmly with a slight happiness in his voice. Halan assumed that he was complimenting Link's performance.

"Very well, my second skill is... The shield attack. Let it be hewn into your mind" The dead man said calmly with a nob as the two men got into a fighting position. "No matter how well-tempered a blade is, if a foe is clad in armour and bears a shield, the sword will do it no harm" He said calmly to Link as the two raised their shields and swords. "When facing such a foe, you must thrust your shield against the defences of your enemy, causing the fiend to recoil" He explained to Link, using his shield to show how to do it. "Try it on me, you have learned much, so I am sure you can see the perfect moment when you can execute the shield attack" He said calmly to Link as he finished showing how to do it to the younger male.

The two fought together for a while, the older man speaking periodically to Link calmly as they trained. Him speaking to Link as they seem to be done doing whatever they were doing. Halan went to Link as she felt that they were about to be brought back to the real world. Link put his sword back on his back before the ghost finished speaking to him with a nob. Halan grabbed onto Link as they were brought back into the spring. Link lay half on the sand and grass as he woke up, standing up and dusting off his clothes. He looked over to see Halan lying down, her lower body on the dry sand and her upper body submerged into the water. He heard her gurgling as she seemed to wake up, she sat up with a half grunt and gurgle. She lowered her mask to cough out the water, water dripping out of her clothes, hair, nose and mouth. She stood with a slight wobble, dusting off her clothes as her cloth dripped water down to the dry clothes.

"What the hell was that about"! She said with an annoyed tone, pointing at him as she made her way towards him and shaking him slightly. He put up his hands defensively with a sheepish expression on his face, Halan letting him go after a few moments. The two returned to the horse who stood there calmly, Link sitting on Epona before the two began making their way towards the village, Halan running beside him, drying off her clothes with the air.

——————————

——————————

The two finally arrived at Ordon village, Halan still slightly wet. Halan decided to go see Uli to make sure she was fine as Link walked around the village to talk to the people of the village. Halan opened the door of Uli's house to which the said woman turned around, seeing Halan walking in after not being seen in the village for more than one day. "Halan! Where were you? I was so worried"? Uli said as she got up and went straight to Halan who just entered, hugging the taller woman, to which she widened her eyes. "Hey, I'm all wet, I don't want you getting sick, especially now this late in the pregnancy" Halan said with a worried tone, her arms far away from Uli as she was hugged. "I'm so happy that you came back uninjured, here go dry yourself up" Uli said with a soft smile as she guided Halan to the side in front of the fireplace.

'I feel so weird, all warm, am I overheating from the energy'? Halan thinks to herself with a frown as she puts her hand on her chest, her eyes calmly looking at the fire. 'No, no' She shook her head as she turned around so her back was facing the fireplace to dry her clothes. 'It feels similar to what I feel with Link, not the same way but...' Halan thinks to herself as she stared blankly at whatever was in front of her. 'It's been a long time since I've settled down to relax and feel affection from others' Halan thinks to herself with a slight smile on her face, hidden by her now dry mask, her hand gripping at her hoodie at chest level. She looked up as she heard the door open again, entering inside of the house calmly.

"Link"! Uli exclaimed with surprise as she stood up again to look at Link. "I heard you were safe and sound. At least assume you were because Halan is here" Uli said more calmly as she vaguely pointed at Halan who still sat close to the fireplace. "It relieves me so to see that you both are hale and hearty" Uli said calmly with a soft smile as Link walked towards her. Uli and Link hugged before Link talked to Uli about something. Halan heard Link say Colin's name, so she assumed that Link was telling everyone that the children were safe at the other village. "Oh, Colin...Colin is...alive"? Uli said as she sat back down after hugging Link, a happy smile on her face. "Oh, the children are all safe. Oh, how wonderful, I am so glad I kept the faith" Uli said with a relieved sigh, now finally relaxing after hearing the news. "My thanks to you, Link. From the bottom of my heart" Uli said happily to Link who rubbed the back of his head with a bashful look on his face.

Uli fussed over the couple for a few more minutes before Link made a gesture that they had to go. Now the pair are outside again. "It's like before I got here" Halan muttered to herself absently as the adventure was reminiscing of her jobs she had in the mercenary. The two are now walking on the dirt path in the village. 'I wonder what our life would be like when we have kids' Halan thinks to herself as her eyes calmly focus on her lover as they walk towards the mayor's house. "LINK"?! Bo's voice sounded out when they got close to the house, catching both of their attention. "Whoa, it IS you, Link! You're safe and sound"! Bo said happily with a slight laugh as waved his arms up. "Your clothes..." He mumbled, pointing at Link's clothes after noticing them. "What happened to you, lad"? He asked with a curious and confused look on his face. "Yeah, he lost his hot farmer clothes" Halan said blankly as she pointed to Link's clothes with her thumb, the two male looked at Halan with a confused expression as they had no idea of what she said. "C-come quick, inside"! Bo said as he gestured the two to go inside.

——————————

——————————

The two were now inside of the mayor's house after he invited them inside, Halan took time to look around as it was the first time she had been inside of the mayor's house. She hadn't cared enough to force herself inside the house with her phasing ability before. She also has never been invited by Bo or Ilia to come inside during her time in the village. "I see... So the young'uns are in Kakariko village" Bo said thoughtfully after Link talked to him. "Well, that's good... Ronado's an old friend. If they're in his care, then we can relax" Bo said with a sigh as he shifted his footing before he widened his eyes with a slight frown. "So... Don't keep me waitin', lad! Tell me of my little girl! Ilia is with the rest of 'em, right"? Bo asked Link firmly, making the younger male wince at the words. Link made a hand gesture before turning away from the mayor.

"...Oh! I see... That ain't what I wanted to hear..." Bo said with a sigh Link looking awkward at a wall like it was the most interesting thing. "Ahh... But Link...I guess I need to think of  all five of those poor kids, not just my own... They're all in danger" Bo said thoughtfully, his hand under his chin as he spoke. "What I should be askin' is how I can help out..." Bo added thoughtfully looking down slightly, Link turning around and giving a nob at his words. Link seemed to explain something with mostly hand gestures to Bo. "What's that now? The Gorons of Death Mountain"? Bo asked about what Link had told him, Link giving more details about the situation. "I see... So Renado told you that..." Bo said with a thoughtful manner. "Well, it's true...I did defeat the Gorons in a contest of strength and earned their trust" He announced to Link proudly. "With the help of a little secret" He added more quietly with a cheeky look on his face. "I CAN teach you the secret... but can you promise me that you absolutely, positively will NOT disclose it to anyone"? Bo said with a slightly worried look on his face. Link gave a nob at the words, agreeing with Bo. "Good, all righty, then. Absolutely no one! Come this way" Bo said as he began walking towards a room, gesturing to the younger male to follow him.

Halan had also followed the two male, now sitting on the wooden platform beside the arena, checking on the things in her pockets to make sure nothing was damaged. "Link, you've heard of sumo wrestlin', right? Gorons like to match strength in sumo contests" Bo asked Link as they stood beside a fighting ring. "Luckily for you, the basics of sumo are the same as stoppin' chargin' goats... You wanna hear more"? Bo asked Link after explaining the basics of what sumo wrestling is. Link gave a nob, wanting to learn more about what he had to do. "All righty, then, I'll teach you the basics of the ways of sumo" Bo said with a chuckle. "If you're gettin' in a sumo match, chances are you're in an arena like this. The first fella to push his foe outside the arena wins" Bo began to explain the basics of how sumo wrestling works. "Step forward and grab your foe with an open palm. Sidestep a foe and push them back" Bo continued on the basics. "Three techniques, all of 'em pretty basic. Master all three and you'll be shovin' folks out of the arena in no time, lad"! He explained with a proud smile.

"So, there you go: the basics of sumo. Need to hear 'em again"? He asked Link curiously to which Link gave a shake of the head. "Rather than explain a lot, why don't we just get to it? Come into the ring, lad" Bo said as he gestured to the arena. The two men prepared for a match while Halan finished checking her stuff. She finally looked up towards the men, when she finished checking her stuff and also because she heard a thump on the ground. She was met with both men shirtless, she quickly pulled out her phone she had just put away, taking photos of Link. "This is not a bad day after all" She said out loud as she now stood beside the ring with her phone focused on Link.

——————————

——————————

Halan had been having a great time taking pictures of shirtless Link as he had a few matchs of sumo wrestling with Bo. Now she was sifting through the pictures in her phone, deleting the photos that were too blurry to see anything, standing beside Link as he was now wearing his green clothes again. "You've gotten a sight stronger in the short time you've been gone, Link..." Bo said as he observed Link. "Strong as you are, through, you can't hope to beat the Gorons wrestlin' with power alone. Those Gorons are made of rock"! Bo added calmly. "Naw, the secret to beatin' the Gorons...is locked away in that chest. Take it with you, lad" He said as he pointed to a blue chest behind him. Link moved to the chest, opening it and pulling out iron boots. He put them in his inventory somehow. "You can probably tell, those boots are made of iron, lad. Whoever wears 'em won't easily be pushed around...even by a Goron" Bo explained the usefulness of the boots. "If you're fixin' to fight a Goron, be sure to wear those boots...Let's be square, through, lad: you can't ever tell ANYONE about those boots! 'Specially Renado"! Bo warned Link with a firm tone before walking away from the two, leaving Link and Halan to do whatever.

The couple walked out of the house calmly after Link acquired a new useful item. Link gestured briefly that he was going to talk to Fado, she gave him a thumbs up as she gestured that she'll go somewhere else in the meantime. He walked towards the ranch to talk to Fado while Halan started to walk back towards the spring to get her other tools back. 'Damn it, I forgot to get my things back. At least my gun wasn't waterboarded' Halan thinks to herself with a sigh as she makes her way towards their house to go towards the spring. As she walked towards the end of the village to go get her things from the horse. Something ran past her quickly like it was late to work, realizing after a few seconds that it was the horse. "I hate that fucking horse" She grumbled quietly as she started to run after the running horse. The two ended up at Fado's ranch where Link stood, Epona stopping in front of him, Halan taking this time to finally grab the stuff she had taken off a while ago.

Halan walked towards the hills around the ranch and sat close to the fence. She watched for a few moments as Link started to hoard the goats in the wooden building. She started to check her tools she just got back while Link hoarded the goats while on the horse's back. After helping Fado with the goats Link gestured that it was time to leave, Halan got off from the ledge to follow Link out of the ranch. Going to the village to say goodbye to everyone, before they departed to the fields to get back to the other village. She ran behind the horse, following Link as he led the way towards Kakariko village to go to the mountain volcano they couldn't get to because of the rock people or whatever. The two saw the gate in front of the village they had spent the previous night in, Link making Epona jump over the fence again while Halan phased through it like she had done before. As the two entered the village they witnessed some big ass green goblin holding up Colin in the air like a dead squirrel. Link growled angrily at the sight, making his horse speed up as the bad guys ran off on their boars, trying to catch up to them. Halan stopped near the familiar house, having witnessed what had happened. She judged that she wouldn't be of any help as it was a horse chase, deciding to wait for Link to come back with Colin.

Question to answer:

So I've got about four comments on the fic at the moment, two I will be answering because they are legitimate questions. One was just a hate comment: "You see this generation is an always online only generation not knowing how to do things offline. It's quite pathetic." Which is so funny to me, because it was a comment on Ao3, which is a site for fanfics. In my head it's someone's dad reading Zelda fanfic, I chuckle thinking about it every time I think about it. Another comment was about being a good story/chapter? Not a question, It is my first purely positive comment so I will cherish it.

The first comment that I answered but will elaborate on: "Aren't these two sentences pretty contradictional?

"Uli and Rusl installed another bed inside of Link's tree house, much to his dread. He didn't really want to sleep or live in the same house with the same girl that had almost permanently damaged his arm."

And it goes from that to:

"Link closed his eyes, finally being able to rest after the eventful day." That's literally a 180 degree change in Link's behavior and assessment in just a few seconds. You'd think that Link would struggle to get any sleep for very long the first night of this crap. Maybe even the first few but definitely the first night."

It was on the first chapter, to answer this very good question. I didn't elaborate on their interactions at first when Halan had just arrived in the first month. Link works hard around the village all day every day, that added with the adrenaline crash after fighting Halan, he was barely able to keep himself awake even if he wanted to. Link after that for almost a whole month felt too uneasy to sleep in the same house as her. After that month he told himself that she for some reason decided to stay in the village and even spent most of her time with Uli without showing any hostility. Which meant she also most likely wouldn't hurt anyone since she didn't seem to want to leave the village at all.

Halan doesn't sleep as much as she is able to perfectly live with one to two hours of sleep every few day if it's an extreme situation. She only slept three to four hours for the first two months of being in the world, slowly sleeping more and more until now. Now at the time of the story she sleeps as much as Link sleeps and sometimes more. Now even sleeping to pass the time without waisting energy waiting. So he would also hear her roam around the house talking to herself until he was too tired to keep himself awake.

The second question: "How did she get internet access in Hyrule? Now we can use Starlink in remote areas like the one young women in Svalbard Norway that uploads what it's like to live in the northern most town in the world (LongyearByen) but the only way she could play music in Hyrule is if she were smart enough to obtain a 3.0USB drive (even a small 64GB) would be better then nothing and play music off of that.

Not sure how it works on phones and that but at least on laptops and computers they are pretty good at that stuff even all the way back to Windows 98SE (Once USB drivers are provided) and especially Windows XP/XP Service Pack 3 since it's the modern NT based systems we use today."

I actually don't know half of those things that was said. Halan has a simple phone that has a lot of space for photos, videos, downloaded fils and downloaded music. She actually changes phones often because of her mercenaries missions and her breaking them during missions or accidentally. She doesn't have games or apps on her phone, the only thing close to that is google chrome dinosaur game. In Hyrule she doesn't have internet or cell service. She does have a portable charger and apple earbuds not wireless.

She downloaded a bunch of songs over the years phone to phone, even taking her time to put them in files for different situations. They are not all songs, some are just random sounds for shit and giggles like the boom vine or cricket sounds. She also has asmr, relaxing music, audiobooks or nature sounds. Those are what she uses to relax, the relaxing music are not specifically meditation videos to sleep, they are are mostly game musics that are in long format like '1 hour of fungal waist from hollow knight'. She only has a few audiobooks that are long horror or thriller books. She doesn't listen to nature sounds anymore as she now lives in a village that has those sounds already.

She also has other songs downloaded, a lot of different songs. Everything is not only in English as Halan knows every languages she can learn the alphabet of. A lot of songs are in different languages, she doesn't have a preference of creators, if the song sounds good to her in some way, she will have it in her phone.

Notes:

——————————
Hi, author here! I'm done with this chapter, the longest chapter I have ever written, being a little over 10k words. I wanted to continue more into the death mountain, but it had been a while since I posted on this fic, so I decided to make this end of the chapter. I'm watching a 100% run on youtube that lasts 26 hours I'm almost 5 hours in which is almost 1/5 in to the end of the video. Wattpad is being difficult for writing, but I locked in chat.

Chapter 6: Heat and magnets

Summary:

Going up that damn mountain.

Notes:

Hi, author here! As I said I stopped the other chapter even if I wanted to continue writing on it, but it had been a while since I had posted and it was starting to drag on too much. I also realized that I've been writing ranch as range, I have 161 hours in Slime Rancher and 284 hours in Stardew Valley, how did I mess this up. My dyslexia got the best of me.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

3rd POV

——————————

——————————

Halan sat patiently on the porch of the house, leaning on her right hand lazily as she watched Link finally come back holding Colin in his arms as he made his way towards the middle of the village. All the other children surrounded Link to go see Colin as he started to wake up. Colin looked up at Link and the others with groggy eyes. A meek smile on his face now, glad that he is saved from whatever had taken him, but it slowly changed to a slightly confused expression. "Where's Halan"? He asked with curiosity, as his eyes looked around for the said woman, he had said her name loud enough for her to hear it. Halan walked over with a raised eyebrow, looking down at the blond boy with curiosity as to why the boy wanted her around. Colin gave her a happy smile as he saw her, seemingly relieved that Halan was there. 'How weird, he seems so happy to see me...now I feel bad for making fun of his hair' She thinks to herself with a frown on her face as she watches Colin go back to sleep. Ronado walked over to the group with a calm expression, giving a nob before walking away from the couple with the worried children trailing behind him.

The two could finally make their way towards the mountain volcano since Link could now take care of the problems the rock people gave them. Halan went straight to where they had to backtrack from before while Link went to do other stuff before joining her to continue the adventure. "I'll practice with my pole in the meantime, sounds like a waste of time to just wait for him while doing nothing" Halan said to herself with a sigh as she jammed her pole down on the grainy ground. Practicing the handstand on her pole that she had been trying to perfection for a little while now. She practiced with the pole for a little more than one hour while waiting for Link to get here. She had also practiced falling properly from different positions on the pole, falling, getting back up as quickly as possible without dropping the pole and minimizing damages to herself. She finally heard Link's footsteps walk up the mountain, signalling that he was done with whatever he had to do before going up the mountain. "Finally here, we can continue on now"? She asked as she dusted off her pole.

"Oh, what do you have here"? She asked with a curious look on her face as she noticed his brand new shield on his back. She held it with his permission to get a closer look at it. 'Where did he even get this? It's the best quality I've seen yet' Halan thinks to herself with a raised eyebrow, looking intently at the design of the new shield. 'Whatever, not like I can really ask him about it' She thought with a shrug as she gave him his shield back. He took a moment to put his shield on his back again. She watched Link climb up the edge, following after him when he got on top of the edge. She had to work her way into getting her pole up with her as she climbed up the edge like Link had done. Midway into climbing up the rock person that had stopped Link before fell down behind her with a thud. "Oh damn" She muttered with a snicker as she finished getting up the edge.

The two stood on top of the edge, looking down as the rock person rolled down the mountain in a ball. They turned around to make their way farther up the mountain on foot. "I didn't expect them to be able to do that kind of move" Halan said with an amused chuckle, not even minding it as a few more rock people attacked them by trying to roll them over. Link took his time to redirect them away to continue making their way up the mountain. They climbed up more edges, pushing another rock person before Link called down a bird to put down a goblin, he used his slingshot to put down the other goblins that were shooting down at them with fire arrows. Halan took cover from the arrows as she watched Link use his slingshot. 'I've never seen him do all of...whatever he's been doing on this adventure...Where and when did he even get a slingshot'? She thought to herself with a raised eyebrow as she waited out on Link to gesture for them to continue on.

The two had to dodge steam shooting out of holes in the rocky ground and walls as they ventured up the mountain. Stopping when Link looked up, Halan followed his gaze only to see two rock people spotting the couple down below. One got into a ball, the other climbed the balled up person to roll away somewhere after they told something to each other. The couple walked around in the area where rocks were somehow falling from the sky, having to dodge them carefully. Halan saw a bigger shadow falling towards Link, she quickly grabbed him by the front of his tunic, pulling him out of the way where the big rock was falling. "Jeez, that would have been bad" She said with a grunt as the rock shook the ground they were standing on. She let go of his tunic after a few seconds, the two watching the steaming rock that had embedded itself in the ground.

The taller of the two pulled out her phone to take a picture of the big steaming rock, Midna decided to show herself at the same time. "Oh" She hummed as she looked at the picture she took, with Midna visible on it. 'Eh, whatever, I'll just have pictures of her too' She thought to herself as she closed her phone, putting it back in her belt pocket. "Whoa... This looks dangerous... Is this the traditional Death Mountain welcome? Eee hee"! Midna exclaimed briefly with a chuckle before going back in Link's shadow. Link continued to run around, still dodging the falling rocks, checking every crook and crannies he could see before they could continue uphill. The two made their way up, finding a hot spring with a bunch of rock people hanging out. Halan decided to stay dry while Link decided to go talk to all the rock people. "Who knew rocks liked to bathe" She spoke to herself with an amused chuckle, waiting for him as he made his way up again.

——————————

——————————

The two arrived in what seems to be in an arena inside the mountain. "Well, this feels familiar" Halan muttered to herself as she looked around the room, it reminded her of the arena inside of Bo's house. When they walked closer, six rock people balled up, ready to attack the two new arrivals. "ENOUGH"! Someone screamed out making everyone stop moving, making Halan wince at the sudden noise. "Is this young one such an imposing enemy that you must all gang up on him? I think not, Little Brothers" An older looking rock person walked in the room, two rock people moving to the side to let the older one pass. 'Oh wow, is he the leader or the wise old one'? Halan questioned in her mind with furrowed eyebrows, tilting her head as she observed the older rock, her eyes focusing on him for a moment before returning to watch her surroundings.

The couple walked closer to the older rock, who had his hands on his hips. "I am a Goron elder, little human. I am called Gor Coron" The Goron introduced himself to Link mostly, but somewhat vaguely to Halan. 'Seems like I got my answer' She thought to herself with a huff as she put her free hand on her hip. "Because of certain...circumstances, I must lead the Goron tribe in place of Darbus, our tribal patriarch" Gor gave a brief explanation of the situation happening to Link. 'This is going to lead to having to save someone isn't it'? Halan thought to herself with a blank look as she observed the interaction. "Tell me, little human, do you come from the village below? You have done well to come this far. You are strong...for a human" The older Goron spoke to Link with a slight proud nob.

"However... The mines beyond here are sacred to my tribe. Outsiders are not allowed. Unless..." The older Goron exclaimed as he crossed his arms to stand his grounds. Link and the Goron looked into each other's eyes for a moment before Gor gave Link a smile. "I could make an exception...but you would have to beat me in a contest of power. Are you willing to try that, little human"? Gor seemed to offer in a challenging tone, to which Link accepted with a nob. 'Oh, they're going to Sumo wrestle, like Bo had practiced with Link before' Halan realized what was going on as she watched the old Goron walk closer to the arena. "Please tell me you're doing this shirtless again" The hopeful looking woman said to Link with her hands clasped together in a sort of praying motion. Link simply gave her a weird look, not really understanding anything she had said.

The two males got into position to do this match of Sumo wrestling, Link fully clothed, much to Halan's disappointment. 'Why am I denied happiness'!? The green eyed woman thought to herself with a sour look on her face and a scoff as she glared at the ground like it had killed Link. She looked up just in time to see Link being thrown back out of the arena like he weighed nothing. "Oh lord" Halan snickered at the sight of her boyfriend having been thrown around. "Your body is skinny, Brother, and so you are too light. You do not stand a chance. Try again later, Brother..." Gor said to Link with his hands on his hips. Link putting on his iron boots, walking up the stairs loudly and slowly as he strained his legs to walk with the heavy boots. Link challenged the older Goron to a Sumo wrestling match again, getting into position again for another match to start. This time he lasted for a little longer, but after a few minutes he was pushed out of the arena again. Link got up again with a huff, the Goron speaking to him but he didn't pay attention. Feeling frustrated that he lost a second time even with the help of a tool. He didn't have an endless amount of time to spend on matches again and again to continue on his way.

He took a few minutes to rest, his girlfriend practically forcing him to go think about techniques he could use to defeat the older Goron to continue on in the adventure as soon as they could. Halan stood behind him to dust his clothes off while he was getting himself together for the next match. Barely able to finish her task before Gor spoke directly to her, seemingly acknowledging her presence for the first time. "You there"! He exclaimed suddenly as he pointed his finger towards the tall woman. "Me"? She said with a confused expression as she pointed to herself with her pointer finger. 'Why is he suddenly talking to me'? She thought as she focused on trying to figure out what he wanted. "Yes, I want a match against you, monster" He said firmly as he gestured for her to get on the ring, much to her bewilderment as she only understood the match part. Link looked up with a shocked expression as she was called a monster so unprovoked and firmly by Gor. "What"? She said with a confused look, her eyes focused on the Goron in the arena. "Do you not understand me monster"? He asked her as he tilted his head in a seemingly taunting way.

She decided to just accept the challenge without much thought, wanting to get this over with. She left her extra stuff with Link before he could even attempt to diffuse the situation. 'I wonder if that guy can sense people that aren't human'? She thought as she stepped up into the arena, watching as the Goron got into a position, her copying the position to start the match. "I've never seen anyone like you before, what are you"? He asked with a smile before they started the match, a confused look on her face at the question. 'Guess he only knows I'm not human' She thought to herself as she managed to somewhat understand what he had asked her. She punched him in the face when he tried to grab at her, making him stumble back slightly. 'At least he knows how to take a beating, even if he moves slowly like this' She thought as she sidestepped him so he wasn't able to push her back. 'He's kinda heavy, making it difficult to just push him around' She thought to herself as she got into a position to push him out of the arena. She gave a sigh as she was finally able to push Gor out of the arena, watching him lazily as he stood back up on his feet. He walked back to the arena with a smile, waving her away with a wave of his hand. He seemed strangely happy about the match even if he lost. "That was really weird" She muttered to herself with a slight frown on her face as she walked off the arena towards Link to get her stuff back.

Link made his way into the arena again as Halan sat where he was sitting while she did her match with the older Goron. With one last punch from Link Gor fell back from the arena, Link dusted off his hands afterwards. The Goron looked up at him with a somewhat proud expression on his face. "Young warrior... You have a strong will...and sharp eyes" He exclaimed proudly to Link as he got up on his feet. "Fine traits... Want to see how well you can use them"? He said to Link in a vague way. "You have seen it, I would bet... The mountain, erupting without pause..." He added before Link could even question the previous words that were said. "When the mountain began to rage, all four of us elders and Darbus, our patriarch, went inside to investigate its anger. We have a treasure that was entrusted to us by the spirits, and we must protect it. Do you understand"? Gor began to explain what had happened to Link with his hands on his hips. "But, the moment Darbus reached out and touched the treasure...everything went wrong... He collapsed...and before our very eyes transformed into an unspeakable monster"! The older Goron continued explaining the situation to Link with a worried look on his face.

"He began to rage through the mines, trailing ruin behind him...and the eruptions grew more frequent and more severe. We used all of our strength to seal him deep inside the mountain" Gor explained with a sigh as he closed his eyes while he shook his head. "It...grieved us to do this to our patriarch...but we had no other course of action" He admitted with a slight sadness to his voice as he talked to Link. "I ask this favour of you, young warrior... Go to the aid of Darbus! Make no mistake, the spirits have guided you here"! He exclaimed confidently to Link as he pointed to the said young man that was standing there with a slight lost expression on his face. "I, Gor Coron, need your help... On behalf of my entire clan, I ask you and the monster for aid"! Gor said confidently to Link, pointing in between the couple as he asked for their help without any ounce of embarrassment.

Link let the information sink in his mind for a moment, he had just discovered that his partner wasn't human and he didn't have the time to think too much about it as he had to help the Gorons. He wasn't surprised by the fact that Halan wasn't human, he had figured that out the moment they first met and fought. But, this was the first time he had really thought about it with the fact that Gor keeps calling her a 'monster' which is still very vague of what she is. Despite wanting to literally know everything he could about Halan, he had no way to communicate more than the basics with her. Even after spending quite some time living together the two had picked up more and more words from each other, she couldn't pronounce the words into sentences yet. They also have been able to somewhat understand each other's body language and facial expressions to guess what they had said to each other. Still the lack of knowledge about who she is as a person is always in the back of Link's mind. Halan herself also seems to get frustrated about that fact from time to time.

"You two, let them pass" Gor said as he crossed her arms, looking at two younger Gorons that were guarding the entrance to the path. He gestured for them to get out of the way, Halan already making her way to the path ready to get away from the room that had too many annoying people inside. Before Link could start following her, he was stopped by the Goron he had managed to beat in a sumo wrestling match. "I suggest keeping an eye on the monster you travel with. She's not anything close to any race I've seen in Hyrule. She doesn't feel evil, nor does she feel good" Gor said firmly to Link with a warning tone, reminding Link why the older Goron keeps referring to Halan as a 'monster'. Link gave a somewhat reluctant nob, to which Gor patted him on the back, sending him on his merry way with a slight stumble forward and a yelp coming from him.

——————————

——————————

Link walked beside Halan silently like usual as they made their way closer to the volcano. He was thinking about what Gor had said to him about Halan. "She doesn't feel evil, nor does she feel good". He had not thought about it that way before, he had known that she somehow got into the village, was very strong, but decided to just stay in the village and helping around like she had lived there her whole life. He was now realizing that she had seemingly no reason to stay in the village in the first place. She didn't know anyone, but she never even caused harm to them in fear of the unknown. She didn't even seem to be that confused about suddenly appearing in the village after the normal confusion of where she was passed.

Before he had much time to really think about the matter they arrived at a place with a bunch of lava. "This is a bit over the top" She said blankly with a sigh as she looked around the room with an annoyed expression on her face. She soon felt the heat around her, feeling slightly lightheaded as her body rapidly adjusted to the change of temperature. She looked down at the lava from the edge with a judgmental glare. 'What the hell is going on'? She thought with a scoff before her attention returned to Link. Who seems to be sweating from just looking at the lava that was shooting up like water jets somehow. "This seems just like a very big puzzle, why is there a puzzle inside of a volcano"? She talked to herself with a confused and grumpy sigh as she slouched. She followed Link down to where there were paths of rocks that were floating on the lava.

Just as she was about to comment on what path they should take, Link made his move towards the path on the right. She quietly followed behind him, not really questioning on how he somehow seems to know where to go. She watched as he pressed buttons, jumped rock to rocks and killed fire enemies along the way. 'This is taking a lot of energy out of me, even trying to match the temperature doesn't work that well when it just keeps rising the longer we are here' She thought to herself with a groan as she watched some sort of gate or door open when Link used his iron boots to make a lever go down. The two entered the next room only to find an even more complex looking room design. "In what word would all this be useful"?! She exclaimed loudly with a groan as her hands gripped her head in her annoyance, her arms waving around afterwards to emphasize the big room seemingly a bit in disbelief as she saw the biggest magnets she has ever seen yet.

Halan helped Link fight some goblins to get to a big blue chest, it didn't even feel satisfying to smash their skulls in because of all the energy it was taking out of her. "We need to finish whatever we're doing and get out of here, I didn't bring enough food to replace all the energy I'm spending right now" She said to herself and to him vaguely with a blank look as she watched him get a key from the big blue chest. He put it in his pocket and made his way to another side of the room to advance. 'It feels like I'm suffocating' Link thought to himself with a frown as he tried to control his breathing the best he could while continuing through the room. They entered yet another room with even more lava jets, making the couple groan in unison before advancing through the room, Link pulling a chain connecting to a wall while Halan fought a few fire breathing geckos. The two quickly made their way towards the next room before the wall Link had pulled could close on them.

The two let out a relieved sigh as they entered the next room that was surprisingly cold and even had water at the bottom. They didn't really even want to question how the water was even there as they were in a literal volcano, they were just glad that there was water at all. Halan's skin was quite literally letting out steam, it seeped out from in between the cracks of her clothes as the colder temperature of the room hit against her overheated body. The two could finally take a break from the hot rooms for a little while before they decide to start figuring out how to make it through the colder room they were currently in.

The two dived in the water at the bottom of the room, Halan sinking immediately before Link could even put on his iron boots to also sink down at the bottom to pass through the hole in the metal fence in the middle of the room. Link stood on a button on the other side of the fence, when it activated it made the two being forcefully pulled out of the water by what seems to be a magnetic surface above them. Link slowly walked up to the door on the magnetic floor with the help of his iron boots. Halan in turn was struggling a bit as she had a lot of metal on her and was holding her pole in her hands. She had to crawl up the surface with the help of her pole and the metal in her boots keeping her from falling back down in the water.

The next room stayed at a manageable temperature, Link went to talk to an even older looking Goron, who gave him a piece of key in return. She followed Link as he climbed up a long ladder after he had found a map and some money from two different chests. She simply waited as he destroyed pots after pots in their way by lifting them and throwing them against the nearest wall. But when he picked up one of the pots close by the door of the room. The pot broke on its own as he was holding it over his head, before he could even throw it against the wall. A weird looking chicken with tits fell out of the pot and his hands with a thud as it landed on its ass on the ground. "Eww" Halan said out loud in disgust as she looked down at it with slight disdain. 'What the fuck is that thing'? She thought to herself as she observed it jump up on its feet, turning to look up at the duo.

"Phew, free at last"! It spoke up to Link with a somewhat relieved tone. "Oh...my fucking god, of course it talks" Halan said with an exasperated sigh as she face palmed, rubbing the bridge of her nose with her fingers. "Gracious... You're that nice fellow who helped me out the other day. How nice to see you again" It continued without minding Halan's comment or presence at all. "Well, now that we've found each other again, let's stick together for a bit, hmm"? It said calmly with a hum at the end of its question. "I'll be right with you, so if you want to wrap out, just let me know" It added calmly before Link somehow grabbed it and kept the weird chicken in his inventory. She stared in disbelief as Link returned to smashing the rest of the pots against the wall before making his way out of the room, Halan following close behind.

——————————

——————————

The couple had made their way through multiple other rooms until they reached another room where the other old Goron gave another piece of the key to Link. They took a break in the room as they had been thrown around by the magnetic surfaces, having to fight upside down and upside up. The heat of the volcano making every room even more difficult. The duo had been running around trying to find keys for the locked doors, money, heart pieces and everything in between. Also having to do unnecessary puzzles in each of those damned rooms made everything more complicated overall. The couple stood before an even more old looking Goron somehow, when they were ready to continue their journey. Link spoke to the Goron so he could be given another of the key pieces.

They climbed another long ladder when they were ready to leave and continue on in the volcano. Both were dreading the incoming heat and doing the puzzles in each of the rooms they entered. "Why can't we just have a somewhat straightforward path with enemies to simply kill please"! Halan freaked with a frustrated sigh, feeling done with the not very stable adventure already. 'Even when I had to stalk targets for weeks it was more enjoyable than this' She thought to herself as she followed Link towards the door.

The next room was short, simply going to a door with the wall being magnetic to help them walk to the door. The room behind that door was a boss battle room. A magnetic platform being held up by chains over hot lava, a more young looking Goron wearing weird armour stood on the opposite side of the platform, standing up as he saw the duo approaching. The Goron jumped on the platform making the chains break, the platform now floating in the lava, the room shaking with the ruckus. Link fought the Goron, the platform moving around during the fight. Eventually Link was able to throw the Goron in the lava three times, the Goron stopped attacking Link, on his side on the platform. "Ugh...That...hurt a lot. Who knew that humans were capable of such feats of strength" He said with a grunt as he leaned on his side.

He stood back up on his feet with a slight slouch. "...Uh...Maybe...you are...going to see the patriarch of our tribe"? He dragged the question out with a tired sigh. "...Ah! So THAT is why you are here! In that case, take the weapon of the Hero of the past..." He seemed to come to a realization as he looked down at Link. "But in exchange, you...and the monster...must save the patriarch of our tribe"! He asked Link as he pointed at the duo, Link sweatdropping as the Goron called his girlfriend a monster and the heat of the room. The platform somehow returned to where it was floating over the lava, the chains connecting to it like before. Halan walked calmly to the other side of the platform towards the door that was now unlocked, waiting for Link to finish talking to the Goron he had just fought with. Which didn't take that long fortunately, the next room had a chest, Link getting a bow and arrows from it.

"Oh that's new" Halan said as she watched him shoot a rope that was holding up a bridge, letting them walk over to the next room. The next room was looking suspiciously like a boss battle room with tomb-like statues. Turns out the statues were some kind of robots that can shoot fire lasers, Link simply shooting the glass eye of each statue. Halan pulled on the statues to help Link check the room properly for any hidden stuff behind each statue, he found a compass in a chest that had been behind one of the statues. The next room had the final older Goron that gave him the final piece of key to Link, this Goron was the weirdest looking rock the couple had ever seen yet, they stopped questioning it at this point. "Ugh, finally we can get the fuck out of here, I'm tired of this place"! She said to herself with a relieved groan while the Goron spoke to Link, seemingly urging him to go somewhere. The couple returned to the statue room to get to the other room connected to it.

The next few rooms were a bunch of puzzles again, it took less time to do the rooms now that Link had a bow. It took a few rooms for Halan to notice that they were backtracking towards the room where they had been shot at by fire arrows by some goblins. Where there were other doors to figure out how to open them to get to the next room. They arrived where there was a room with pillars and a locked door at the end of the chamber. "I think that's where the key goes" She muttered to herself, observing the big lock on the door as Link checked out the whole room before going towards the lock. He pulled out the key from his inventory and unlocking the door for them to continue on saving the patriarch of the Gorons.

——————————

——————————

They arrived in a dark chamber in a round shape, pillars around in a circle just outside of where only half of the floor is magnetic in random patches. In the middle of the room was the biggest Goron they had seen yet, he was chained on his feet and wrists while he was standing up. "That's a big boy" Halan commented in a whisper in her slight surprise as they walked up to the chained Goron. When they got in front of him, the said Goron seemed to suddenly wake up, a gem on his forehead glowing as he moved, glowing more intensely as he screamed out a roar at the couple, trying to tug at the chains. He looked at the chains for a moment before lighting himself on fire with another roar, ripping the chains from the ceiling that it was screwed down on.

"Did he really need to be on fire for that"? Halan said with a blank look on her face before she started to run on the opposite side that Link was running. Trying to gain time to think about what to do. 'Bullets will definitely not work on rocks, also my gun was waterboarded, I'm not even sure if I can use it right now' She thought to herself as she ran around the room, her pupils constricting as they tried to find any weak points. As her eyes finally focused on the orange gem on his forehead, an arrow shot at it, it broke on impact against the gem but it stunned him for a moment. Her eyes locked on Link as he went behind the flaming Goron to pull at the chains connected to his feet with the help of his iron boots holding him against the magnetic floor. It made the Goron fall down on his stomach. Link took this time to run in front of him to slash at the gem with his sword.

Halan decided to help Link by distracting the bigger Goron while he shot at the gem, her tugging at the chain so he would fall down and he could go slash the gem with his sword more. A few pillars were destroyed in the process, but not much damage was done in the room overall. After two more falls of the Goron with the teamwork of the lovers, Link dealt the final blow to the gem on his forehead. The Goron screamed and roared as he swung his arms around in what seemed to be pain or despair. The chains almost hitting the couple as they tried to stay out of the chains range. He gave a final roar, darkness shot out of the Goron, a piece of heart jumping out as the Goron shrank to a somewhat normal size. As the Goron laid on the floor, a weird piece of what seemed to be a dark mask appeared in Link's hands. He held the piece calmly as the shadowed form of Midna came out of Link's shadow with a somewhat excited aura around her, a more relaxed body language.

"Eee hee hee! Well done"! She exclaimed happily before snatching the piece of mask with her hair somehow. That still confused Halan, even if she had seen the hair in action before due to having travelled along with wolf Link and Midna on his back. "Now we have two fused shadows..." Medna exclaimed to Link as she held the piece calmly with her hair slightly above her. "Hmm... You know, you've been very helpful so far, so as a reward, I'll tell you an interesting story" The little imp said with a thoughtful tone and expression on her face as her eyes drifted to look at a nearby wall. She seemed to think of what to say and also how to say it.

"Zant. That's the name of the King of Darkness who cast this pall of shadows over your world" She began the story with a nob as her eyes returned to look at Link. "He's very strong. You would be nothing to him in your current state...Well maybe your mate could beat him" She continued seriously before adding the teasing comment about Halan with a giggle pointing at the said woman, making Link look at the dark imp with a blank look and letting out a scoff at the words. "But, Zant will never be my king! I have nothing but scorn for him for his supposed strength. Not that your Zelda is much better..." Midna explained her views with a mocking scoff, her hand on her left hip. "It still appalls me that this world of light is controlled by that princess. A carefree youth, a life of luxury... How does that teach duty"? She added with a mocking closed eye snicker, making Halan raise an eyebrow at what was said.

'She's speaking a whole lot of something' Halan thought to herself as she felt very confused, Midna was speaking with words that Halan hadn't heard before or heard a lot of. "...But I guess I shouldn't begrudge her the circumstances of her life. She didn't choose it, after all. And I would never wish harm on her..." Midna added more seriously with a sigh as she turned to look at the Goron that had been previously corrupted. "No, as long as I can get my hands on the fused shadows. I'll be just fine" Midna added with a somewhat somber tone as she looked down at the Goron. She moved down towards the ground and a weird portal appeared. "Well, just one more left...Shall we? Eee hee hee"! Midna exclaimed with a giggle as she turned to look back at Link, before moving towards the portal and standing above it as she waited for Link to walk over.

Link first grabbed the piece of heart and spoke to the Goron who just woke up with what seemed to be a headache. The couple held hands as they walked to the be on top of the portal, and teleported them to the spring in Kakariko village. "Yes! I've never been so happy to see water and normal sand"! Halan said with a relieved sigh as she belly flopped on the shallow water connecting to the village, startling Link as she splashed him with the water. She lifted her head to where it would be half submerged in the water to observe as Link turned around to look at something, she followed his gaze. She saw the children and Ronado looking at the lovers as they stood near the spring, Colin was now awake. He made his way to Link with a slight limp. "Link..."! Colin exclaimed with a weak voice before falling to the ground on all four, Link walked to him, holding Colin up by his arms. "Ilia...You've got to save Ilia"!

Notes:

Author here! This is the end of this chapter. I WAS ABOUT TO CRASH OUT ON THAT DAMN GORON DUNGEON BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER, DAMN IT. So yeah, rock, room, lava, magnetic. There's only so much words I can use before it gets really repetitive. Also I decided to change how I write the story, as the copy what I'm seeing is lame, long and can become repetitive because of the 100% play through I'm watching for this. So I'm now more vaguely writing what's going on while having more details in important moments. 6300~ words, it's a bit shorter than the previous chapter, but it takes so much time just changing the font and everything.

Chapter 7: The city

Summary:

Halan has to run around some more, much to her annoyance.

Notes:

Hi, author here! I'm ready to continue on the story, I'm at 6 hours into that 26 hours video which is a little over 1|5 of the video. Thank you for all the kudos, I get really happy every time I get a kudo, it warms my heart.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

3rd POV

 ——————————

——————————

Halan sat on the sandy ground near one of the gates as she waited for Link to be done doing stuff around the village. She had laid her now dried hoodie on the ground after it had all dried up from her flopping around in the water of the spring like a fish. She was now sitting criss cross on the ground with her back leaning on the metal gate at one of the entrances of the village with the hoodie on the ground in front of her. She was taking the time to clean up her tools as she had nothing else to do, taking apart her gun to dry all the parts out that had been submerged in the water multiple times. Getting the water off of the metal with a cloth, her fingers helping the cloth get into the crooks and crannies of each of the metal parts.

"So my gun can get jammed with water, that's probably going to be a problem" She said with a huff as she continued to dry off the parts of her gun. She took her time to finish drying the parts of the gun, she carefully looked at each part as she put the gun back together like she had done countless times before. She tested out the gun to make sure that everything would be working properly in the future ahead. She pulled out her whip, that she had not used much if at all since she got here, out of her back belt pocket. "I'm sorry for neglecting you" She spoke to the whip like it could respond to her words, taking the time to clean it. "Fire doesn't really match with leather" She added while muttering as she finished cleaning it and checked the state of the tool before putting it back in her belt pocket. 'Should I even keep it for now'? She thought to herself as she considered putting the tool away somewhere else so she could have more space in her pockets for inventory instead of storage for a tool she doesn't use much as of now. 'Well I never know, I may need it in a fight or having to use it on Link' She thought to herself with a shrug as she held on to it instead of parting ways with the tool.

She suddenly remembered something that she had picked up while they were travelling. Pulling out a piece of heart she had found in a hole of a tree while she was running alongside Link on his horse. She had put it away in a more hidden pocket of her pants so it couldn't just fly away while running around the fields. She observed the heart piece as she twirled it in between her fingers. 'Link didn't seem to be able to absorb this one when I tried to give it to him in the volcano' She thought to herself with a frown as she looked at the piece with a perplexed expression. She tilted her head as she thought of what to do with the object that seemed pretty useless as of now. 'Might as well keep it, it's pretty' She thought to herself with a huff as she was putting it back in her pants pocket.

She got up from the ground with a sigh, putting her gun on her back as it was leaning on a wall close by her. She reached down to grab her hoodie from the ground, shaking it around afterwards to get the sand and dirt off of it. Once it was clean enough she put it on, preparing to leave the village soon, using her hands to smooth out the piece of clothing down, getting rid of any dirt that had stayed on the tissue. She put the strap of her gun over her shoulder, making sure the strap was connected tightly to the gun so it wouldn't just fly off at some point. Next she kneeled down to tighten her boot straps properly so the boots would stay on her feet. While she was doing that Link, who was on Epona's galloping quickly towards her and jumped the gate she had used as a wall a few minutes prior. She gave a blank look as the shadow passed over her quickly, not even bothering to make sure it was Link that had just ran through. "Here we go" She spoke with a sigh as she finished tightening the straps on her boots as quickly as she could before taking her pole and using it to jump over the gate, getting on the other side.

She ran after Link as quickly as she could to catch up to him to follow after him. Annoyingly, her gun bounced on her lower back as she moved around quickly. 'Wait...why didn't I just phase through the gate like I did before?.. Whatever, it worked at the end anyways' She thought to herself with a slight frown after narrowing her eyes as she realized that she had jumped the gate without actually needing to. In the corner of her eyes she saw the booty short guy running away like his life depended on it as usual. She finally managed to catch up to Link after a little moment, now running alongside him toward their destination that he guided the two towards.

—————————

—————————

Halan stopped at the sight of a weird shadowy wall in the middle of a path they were taking, Link got off of Epona to approach the wall, their trip being cut short for now. Midna soon appeared from his shadow as he stood near the wall to talk to him about something, Halan simply on as she had been in and out of the shadows a few times by now. She crossed the other side of the wall calmly as she was now waiting for Link to come along. To her amusement it was Midna that had crossed the wall afterwards, her appearance not shadowy anymore, she turned back towards the wall as her hair turned into a hand to grab Link and drag him into the dark space next. He landed on his stomach with a thud before standing up while he shook his head, transforming into his wolf form moments later, Midna getting on top of him. "All right then, I guess I'll have to help you! But what a shame that this is the last of the twilight... I had become so fond of seeing it covering this world..." Midna exclaimed with a slight disappointed sigh as she looked around before giving a mischievous giggle. "Or...is it really the last you'll see? Eee hee"! Midna said while giggling and patting Link playfully. "So, shall we get going"? She exclaimed a bit more quietly but with a more eager tone.

The trio continued on as they walked on the path they found Ilia's leg pouch on the ground in the middle of the path they were walking on. Link had sniffed out the scent of Ilia on her pouch, now able to follow it more closely. "You smell the girl, don't you"? Midna started another of her monologue but was cut off by Halan who took all of Link's attention. "Good puppy"! Halan exclaimed with a coo as she scratched gently around his neck and ears. Link's wolf body reacted accordingly, his tail wagging with all its might as he felt very happy about receiving the affection from his normally quite reserved girlfriend. "I kinda missed this side of you little puppy" Halan spoke with an amused chuckle, giving him a few head pats to send him on his way, her following behind as Midna felt a little annoyed that she got cut off in the middle of mocking Link.

Soon enough a clearing came to their sights. It seemed a bit familiar to Halan, the orange yellow hue around them made seeing around a bit fuzzy and difficult to see anything clearly. They continued on the somewhat familiar half rock half dirt path that led to a wooden bridge that seemed even more familiar as they crossed it. They arrived at the castle town and it took a few seconds for Halan to connect the dots. "WHAT I'M BACK HERE AGAIN"! She screamed out, making the other two flinch at the sudden outburst of the quiet woman, their heads turning to look at the source of the sound. "Damn it, I could have just stayed here until we reunited, I could have not done the Goron mountain at all" She grumbled to the ground as she fell to her knees dramatically before pounding at the ground with her fist with slight despair. The two gave her a weird look as the usually neutral woman threw a fit over being back in town. Halan quickly stopped, standing up on her feet like before, getting herself together like nothing had happened.

Halan followed behind Link as he made his way through the town fairly swiftly, stopping in front of a somewhat small building with double wooden doors for a moment. Halan spotted a bone on the ground, picking it up before throwing it a little hard, if it would be ignored it would probably end up somewhere far away. "Puppy! Catch"! She exclaimed teasingly with a smirk, fully expecting him to ignore the bone, but to her surprise he launched off the ground and caught the bone before it could get too high for him to catch. Midna clinging to his fur for dear life so she wouldn't be launched off herself. When Link landed quietly on all four paws, the bone secured in his mouth, the three of them taking a moment to register what had just happened. Before the two women busted out laughing at Link as he awkwardly let go of the bone that had been in his mouth with slight shame in his demeanour, a whiny huff left him as they laughed at him. 'So his brain also does transform into a puppy brain, how did I not realize that before in the other times? I thought it was because I was giving him the affection I would give him. Well... he did get super excited over her giving him scratches and head pats. Now the fun part begins... figuring out if he has a puppy brain in his normal form' Halan thought to herself with a giggle as the group returned to a more serious aura.

The trio continued on through the town, toward what she assumed would be another important building. Passing through the streets of stands where she had basically stolen a bunch of food from a few days ago. Going down a couple of flights of stairs before stopping in front of a somewhat hidden building that had just a single slightly opened wooden door. Link took the time to read the sign on the wall beside the door before shimming his way through the ajar door. Inside, the building was very homey, an open space with crates and tables placed around the interior. "A bar"? Halan spoke up with a confused tone as she spotted the shelves behind the bar having lines of alcohol bottles, the counter strangely didn't have any stools to sit at. "Or is it a tavern? Is there a different"? She added as she walked around the building curiously, phasing her face through the crates to see what was inside them. She found mostly alcohol and other stuff for the building's business. 'I wonder who runs the bar'? She thought to herself as she phased out of the crates, tilting her head as she crossed her arms. She was a bit confused as she looked over to see Link that stood near the crates, staring at something intently.

——————————

The taller woman followed as Link made his way out of the town and to more fields towards a very long bridge that she had never seen before. As they walked on the bridge Halan noticed that the floor was slightly sticky as her boots made contact with the ground. Now noticing that the ground of the bridge was stained with something else than the natural old stain that rocks would have after a long time. This was a liquid that seemed to be recently spilled all over, it didn't have that strong of a smell or a special colour to it. It was simply a black opaque liquid all over the middle of the long bridge that was just there for some reason. The group soon spotted a figure moving on the other side of the bridge, it shot two arrows that were on fire at each side of the bridge where the liquid started on each side. The ground caught on fire fairly quickly as the figure ran away from the bridge.

"Well...shit" Halan grumbled with a sigh as she heard something scrap against the ground, she saw Link pushing a wooden crate that had been in the middle of the bridge towards the wall. Before she could question what he was doing he jumped off of the bridge. The fire didn't give Halan time to think too much as it spreads very quickly, she made herself sink down through the ground. She was now free falling from the bridge, she moved to position herself to dive in the water without belly flopping. Diving in the water a couple seconds before Link and Midna reached the water. She quickly sank to the bottom, standing up on her feet as she started to make her way out of the water, helped by the ledges in the water. Lifting herself off of the water, her clothes sopping wet from being submerged in the water as she stood back up on her feet. "I just cleaned up my gun! Damn it this is really repetitive for no reason" She grumbled with a gurgle as she lowered her mask to spit out the water.

She spotted wolf Link literally flying away with a sort of creature holding his wolf body. "What is that!... I also want to fly"! She exclaimed loudly with a slight frown, following him along from the ground. Phasing through the walls to dodge all the obstacles in her way she finally saw a glimpse of the exit in the long cave. It made an exit to a frozen river, Link nowhere to be seen, she decided on her own to walk along the river, assuming it was where he went. The spikes on her boots helped her not slip and fall on the icy surface. Her skin let out steam as her temperature rose up to keep her from freezing over as she was still all wet from falling in the water, looking around with a confused look on her face as she walked.

"Where did he go"? She grumbled as she looked up at a frozen waterfall that seemed to be an odd phenomenon, observing it for a few moments before she felt the ground shaking forcing her to look down at the ground with a slightly concerned expression. She looked up again towards the waterfall just in time to see water suddenly shooting out from over the frozen waterfall. "Are you kiddin-"! She got cut off as the water harshly crashed against her rapidly, sweeping her away with the force back down the river as she protested about the situation with a gurgling sound being quieted by the running water. She eventually felt her back hitting the wooden gate of the house at the end of the clearing where the river was still visible with a grunt almost breaking the wooden gate. She moved to climb out of the water again with a grumble, turning over before digging her sharp nails into the wooden planks to help herself out of the running water.

She made her way again to where she had been before being literally blown away by the water. She finally got back to where she had been, making her way farther to go find Link, almost falling back in the water a few times while on her way. She was now standing beside Link after finally finding him in a weird sort of room with a water reservoir, he was seemingly already ready to leave the place. "Wait"! A soft but firm voice spoke up from somewhere, the trio turning around towards the voice, seeing a big floating fish woman. 'What? A fish that's floating? Maybe a ghost? It's going to be a revenge quest isn't it'? She thought to herself with a sigh, her right eye twitching with annoyance as she looked the fish woman over. "Please, you must allow me to thank you for revitalizing both my people and this spring, which is the water source for all the lands of Hyrule" The pretty fish lady spoke softly with a grateful tone. "In life, I was the elder of this Zora village and the queen of my people. I was called Rutela" She introduced with a slight bow, the trio decided to get closer to Rutela. "Not to be rude, but we didn't exactly do it for you guys..." Midna said with a yawn as she stretched back on Link's back earning a growl from him at the somewhat insensitive tone she had used.

"The dark ones... They raided this village and, as a message to my people, executed me before them" Rutela explained her situation with a sadness in her voice, Halan struggled to understand as the words used weren't common words used by Ordonians in the village. "Young man... and the thing..." She addressed Link and pointed to Halan with wariness, making the said woman wince. 'The pretty fish lady doesn't like me' She thought to herself with disappointment as she slouched her form. "You who take the form of a proud beast... I have something to ask of you" Rutela's tone changed slightly as she started to word her request, grabbing the trio's attention. "When the dark ones descended upon our village, I sent my young one, Ralis, to Hyrule Castle to inform Princess Zelda of our fate" She began to form her request with hesitancy and slight sadness in her expression. "But...I fear danger followed him from this doomed place. I feel it. His presence grows fainter to me over time..." She continued her request as her eyes fluttered and her pupils shaking seemingly about to tear up from concern of her child.

"But my time in this world has passed, and though I would give it gladly, I no longer have a life to risk in his rescue" She started to formulate her request to Link more properly. "Please... Would you save my dearest, Prince Ralis"? She gave her request to Link, asking to rescue her child, her hands clasped together in her concern. "If you do this thing, I will bestow upon you the protection of water. This power will grant you the ability to swim and respire in very deep water as if you were a Zora" She bargained in her request, offering him a reward for helping her child. "Please... Save my son..." She finished making her request to Link for help before disappearing in front of the trio, leaving Halan confused as she only understood the saving her son part. 'She talked a lot to just ask help for her son' She thought to herself as she looked over at Link and Midna who were still staring up at the air for a few more seconds. "What was she going on about"? Halan spoke her confusion out loud to nobody specifically as Midna mumbled something to Link.

——————————

——————————

The trio hunted down more insects like the ones in the Goron mountains, Link running around like he was hallucinating stuff because only Halan couldn't seem to see most of the things he could see. She had to manage her way through more water, going back to the house with the gate at the river end. Just as she was about to think that they were just running in circles over and over again before Link made a sharp turn and returned to Castle Town. 'Seems like the little bugs are all over the place this time around' She thought to herself as they again made their way to a big body of water, she stayed to the side as she watched Link practically fighting the air, making her giggle at the scene. She was suddenly flash-banged after Link seemed to have defeated the thing he was fighting and they were transported to somewhere else. Now they stood in front of a thing made out of light floating out of the water of a little body of water. "What the hell" She exclaimed with a sigh, not even giving much thought about the strangeness of the situation. Now the world around them was back to normal, Midna hiding in Link's shadow as he transformed back into his not puppy form.

"My name is Lanaryu. Your efforts have at least restored each of us light spirits in Hyrule" The snake thing named Lanaryu introduced himself and commented on Link's efforts in a sort of ungrateful manner. "At least try dick riding a bit you big ass lazy snake" Halan commented with a huff, glaring at the ungrateful being made of light that Link had helped for basically free service. She was ignored by the said being as he decided to continue talking to Link instead. "O hero chosen by the gods... The dark power that you seek... it waits in a temple set in the bed of Lake Hylia" He spoke instructions to get the helmet Midna was searching for or something. "More puzzles I'm assuming? Just make Link oil up or something instead...please" She groaned out with a whine as she stomped her feet slightly in frustration. "...But before seeking it, you must now bear witness to something... and never forget it" The snake added with what seemed to be a very different subject from the quest, making the woman curious. "You must know that it was the will of the goddesses that we lock away the forbidden power..." The snake explained a bit before the couple felt an odd sensation wash over them.

Suddenly they were in a different scene seemingly being a simulated vision from the snake, both surprised by the change. 'What! How did that thing do that to me? Well, my body isn't asleep or in any danger but...' She thought to herself with an uneasy feeling as she looked at herself in the third person, she was in more casual clothing and without her tools or weapons on her. She was tied down by cyan coloured strings from multiple angles, slightly crouched forward with her arms tied down to the bottomless ground, a bit similar to a sumo wrestling pose. Her eyes somehow turned to look at Link as he was now in his casual village clothes. 'This isn't so bad after all' She thought to herself as she smirked, still unable to even move her head. "When all was chaos, the goddesses descended and gave order and life to the world" The snake's voice spoke out loud and in their minds somehow as three flying stars swooshed around them with one being blue, one red and one green.

A small grassy hill appeared in front of the couple, seemingly illuminated by nothing at all. "They granted power equally to all who dwelt in the light, and then returned to the heavens" The snake's voice spoke to explain something to Link, Halan being a collateral witness to whatever was going on as she wasn't even able to move or make a sound. "The lands where the goddesses descended came to be known as the Sacred Realm" The snake continued to explain as the scene changed to Link and Ilia looking at each other with a happy smile on their faces. Halan raised her eyebrows at what was going on, confused as to why she was being shown this in the first place. 'Why is it even showing me this, it clearly knows I'm different as it didn't really seem hesitant in my presence' She thought to herself her feet stuck to the ground as she watched from a distance. The three flying lights came together and made a golden glow about the grass hill. "For ages, the people lived at ease, content in mind and body..." The snake's voice spoke as three triangles glued together to make a triangle with a hole in the middle appeared from the golden glow with the same colour to them.

"But soon, word of the Sacred Realm spread through Hyrule, and a great battle ensued..." The voice trailed off as the view shifted to Ilia holding a dagger in her right hand. She moved to turn towards Link with all white eyes before raising her arm to attack him with the dagger. She yelped as she was instead attacked by Link, her dagger clanking on the endless floor before coming to a stop. Link sticking the sword on the endless floor before running towards where the grass was shown, his eyes all white too. His clothes shifted to the green uniform like before they were put into the illusion. 'Aww man, now I'm not that interested in what's going on' Halan thought with a huff as she watched Link shift to a stop when three shadowy people that looked strangely like Link appeared under the golden triangle on the grassy hill. "Among those living in the light, interloper who excelled at magic appeared" The voice spoke up as the view moved to be closer to the three shadowy people, seeing their fully red eyes as they seem to look at not shadowy Link.

'I would kinda like being stuck with multiple Links' Halan thought to herself as she observed the shadows for a moment. The view shifted to be in front of the three shadows of Link, the helmet Midna would usually wear showing up from the endless ground. "Wielding powerful sorcery, they tried to establish dominion over the Sacred Realm" The voice spoke out as the dark helmet now hid the golden triangle, the three shadows of Link lifting a arm towards normal looking Link. Who put his arms up in a protective manner before bursting into colourful particles. 'Is this what it looks like to be tripping out'? She thought to herself as she continued to calmly watch as the view shifted to the shadows, now the middle one looking like normal Link with all white eyes and an evil smile on his face. 'Ok that was kinda hot' She thought to herself with a hidden smirk on her face. A few balls of light appeared behind them and to the sides of them. "It was then that the goddesses ordered us three light spirits to intervene" The voice spoke up calmly as the view moved to the three shadows of Link as they now looked nervously around them at the balls of light. "We sealed away the great magic those individuals had mastered" The voice said calmly as the helmet sank on the ground, the three shadows turning to face the side they were turned away from.

The view moved closer to the middle shadow's face before he started to scream in fear and slight agony, making her flinch as she was used to the usual quiet demeanour that Link had. 'Never heard him being this loud, the shadow even had his voice' She thought to herself as she could now see only the grassy hill for a moment before being brought out of the illusion. Her point of view now back to herself as she could now move again. Falling forward on the ground as she wasn't ready to suddenly have control of her body so suddenly again and so soon. "Ouch" She grumbled as she moved to look up to the side to see if Link was doing fine. "You know this magic...It is the dark power you seek... the Fused Shadow" The voice spoke as the pieces of the helmet floated around Link who still looked very dazed. The view changed again with the dark background and she couldn't move around again. 'Damnit'! She thought with a frown as she felt frustrated to switch between being able to move and not move.

"O hero chosen by the goddesses... Beware..." The voice calmly trailed off as a sight of Ilia upside down, spinning downward as the voice spoke. "Those who do not know the danger of wielding power will, before long, be ruled by it" The voice spoke calmly as Ilia continued to spin downward. "Never forget that..." The voice trailed off as now multiple upside down Ilia's floated downward after the one spinning was out of sight. The illusion cut out again to real life, making her jolt still on the ground as she saw Link with an evil smile on his face for a few more seconds before he also jolted, his expression switching to a shocked look. He fell down to his knees in an almost pathetic manner as he now panted slightly while looking down at the pond. "The dark power you seek is within the sleeping Lakebed Temple in Lake Hylia..." The voice informed Link before its presence slowly disappeared. Halan stood up quickly from the ground when she was sure they wouldn't be switched to the illusion again.

"Damnit, I want to make you fall that pathetically" Halan exclaimed as she watched him stand back up on his feet after a few moments before looking back at her with a confused expression, not knowing exactly what she had said to him. She flinched as he suddenly made his way to the small body of water. "What are you doing"! She spoke out as she watched him dive with no hesitation in the water. "Oh right, you don't act like yourself half the time" She muttered with a sigh as she remembered about his odd behaviour he has been doing for the past few days. Now noticing that the floating hearts were back above him. Now she was simply waiting for him to be done with whatever he had needed to do in the water. She could now observe the world more in detail around her as it was now not covered in darkness.

They eventually went back to Castle Town after being intercepted by the postman again as a new letter was mailed to Link. The town was now full of people walking around and selling things through the streets, a few bumping against her as she walked behind Link. "Young lady"! A vendor addressed her directly as she waved her over, both of them walking over as they got curious about what the vendor was wanting to sell to her. "You seem quite exotic, here if you want to find yourself a man who would want you, give it to him, maybe he'll accept it" The vendor exclaimed with a smirk as he showed her some shiny material stringed together similar to the one she made with the shiny material Link had given her that she now wears at all times. Link got a bit upset at the words the vendor had said to his girlfriend. "What the hell are you trying to sell to me"? She replied with a slight frown in her confusion, the vendor flinched as he didn't actually expect the woman to not speak Hylian and to sound so harsh as she spoke to him.

"Oh sorry, it's 500 rupees, 500 rupees" The vendor spoke slowly to the woman as he gestured to the string of shiny materials and her while holding his fingers up to showcase a number so she knew how much it would cost. Link frowned before moving to hold her free hand, staring down the vendor before taking his time to sign something to him. 'Stop trying to sell courting jewelry to my partner' He signed as he mouthed the words along, adding a middle finger as he had learned that Halan would do the same when she would get angry at someone. The vendor stared at the two with a stunned look on his face as he somehow felt insulted by the middle finger without even knowing what it meant. Halan stood there with a confused look on her half covered face. "Was he trying to sell something overpriced to me"? She asked Link as they walked away, taking her hand out of his hold to rub her fingers together as a gesture to the subject of money. He simply made a gesture to not worry about it, making a chopping motion with his hand towards his neck.

The two walked around the town holding hands as Link guided the two towards where they had to go. They walked to the bar again, Halan felt curious about how it would be inside now that people were back. "That is a Zora child! This is beyond my expertise! Hmmmph"! The annoying voice of an old man that's dead inside is the first thing they heard when they entered the bar before they saw the old man bump against Halan and he almost fell over as it felt like bumping against a wall. The old man looked up at the tall woman as she herself looked down at the old man with a blank look. The old man simply walked past the couple and out the door with a scoff. "Doctor, wait! If something isn't done, this child will..." Ilia voice suddenly sounded out, surprising Halan as she didn't expect the younger teen to be there of all places. Ilia gave a sigh before returning towards where the Zora child laid asleep like she didn't know Link or Halan.

"Well, this isn't good. A human doctor won't do, huh..." Ilia said a bit more sadly as she seemed worried about the Zora child. 'KITTY'! Halan thought to herself as she spotted the cat near Ilia. "That old coot reminded me, though... I've heard of a shaman in Kakariko Village, in the Eldin lands, who's tended Gorons and Zoras" A woman with an open cleavage said to Ilia with a hum, making Ilia perk up as she turned to the woman. "Is that true? Perhaps if we take him there..." Ilia spoke her tone hopeful as she looked at the woman, her hands clasped together near her own chest before a voice cut into the hopeful silence, making them turn to look at the source of the voice. "Inadvisable! Too dangerous! But we can't turn a blind eye to a pretty girl in need, either" A man in a group of guards were the ones that spoke up. "Yes, we'd better escort you! Am I right, boys"?! Another one added before they started to hype themselves up for whatever they wanted to help the two women with. 'Feels a bit condescending somehow' Halan thought to herself as she watched blankly the scene in front of them.

"Well, isn't that nice. To reach Kakariko, we've got to cross two plains that are each infested by dangerous beasts" The woman spoke up with information on what they would have to do to reach the village they wanted to go to. The group of guards slowly stopped hyping themselves up at the new information about the route to the village. "But we'll be safe now"! The woman added with a smirk before looking over at where the group of guards were, now only one lone guard that sheepishly ran off like the others did. The woman turned towards the door as it slammed shut from the last guard with a frown now facing the couple at the same time. "Cowards! Don't EVER show your faces here again"! The woman exclaimed with her hands on her hips. 'I like her already' Halan thought to herself with a huff as she watched the sassy woman. Said woman seemed to notice the couple that were standing there awkwardly.

"Oh my! Looks like we've got one young swordsman left and maybe a swordswoman"!? The woman exclaimed with a smile on her face, as Link looked a bit dumbfounded at the woman. "And not only that, but it looks like these two brave young couple will escort us, so get ready to go, honey. Pronto"! The woman spoke to Ilia who walked off to get ready, the woman taking the time to speak to the couple as she approached them. "You two know that girl, don't you"? The woman asked as her eyes flickered between them. "It's a real shame... She can't even remember her own name right now" The woman spoke calmly mostly to Link as Halan didn't seem to understand what was going on. "Is she speaking about Ilia? What happened to her"? Halan asked him quietly before he gave her a nob, gesturing that Ilia couldn't remember anything as he slid his pointer and middle fingers down the side of his head for the gesture.

"Bless her heart... She found this poor boy collapsed in the road, so she did all she could to save him" The woman explained to the couple as she gestured to the Zora child laid on wooden boxes. "More courage in that girl than in all of the soldiers of Hyrule, for sure"! The woman exclaimed as she looked back at the couple. "You lend your strength to her, you hear me"? The woman said sternly before the group started to get ready for the road ahead. 'Might as well follow along, if we are going to get back to Kakariko' Halan thought to herself as she didn't even bother to ask too many questions about what was going on. She helped get the unconscious child on the wagon that they seem to get their stuff inside, she held the child carefully as she walked to the wagon, Ilia showing her where to put him before they got moving.

——————————

——————————

"Is she going to be fine with no ride"? The woman asked Link as she observed Halan tightening her gun strap so it wouldn't bounce on her back while she moved around. Link handed her the metal bar back when she was ready before giving a nob of the head to the worried woman, she didn't question it as he himself seemed to not be very worried about the younger woman's situation. "Th-Thank you two so much for this. Um, if you don't mind me asking, what's the two of your names"? Ilia asked shyly to the couple as she felt curious about the two's dynamic. "Names? Halan and Link" Halan spoke up pointing to herself and him respectively. "...Link and Halan"?! Ilia said with a hum as she looked at the two of them with a sparkle in her eyes. "I will never in all my life forget both of your kindness, Link and Halan" Ilia exclaimed with a happy smile as she looked at them with gratitude. 'I've never been looked at like that, feels weird, good weird' Halan thought to herself as she tilted her head at the grateful words from Ilia.

"Little lady, I think you'd best save your thanks until we're safe in Kakariko..." The older woman spoke up as she leaned back to talk to Ilia with a bit of warning in her tone before her eyes shifted to look at Link's eyes and Halan's eyes. "This swordsman of ours has great eyes, honey. They're proud and wild...like a feral beast" The woman spoke up first as she looked at Link's eyes first before shifting to Halan's eyes. "This swordswoman of ours has the eyes of a killer like a true monster... If she's on our side, she'll be useful" The woman said as she tilted her head up as she looked at Halan with caution on her face. The older woman could feel the taller woman's eyes stare on the side of her head, since she met Halan, the older woman felt uneasy. Ilia and Link seem to be used to the uncanny presence the taller woman exude so that was how she figured out that the couple knew who Ilia was. 'Holding that metal bar seems annoying, I think I have something that would help her and fit on her in the carriage' The older woman thought as she looked Halan over calmly, deciding to give it to her as a reward once they got to Kakariko.

The older woman was surprised as Halan ran faster than Link's horse, scouting the path in front, bashing the beasts in the way with her metal bar while Link shot down the beasts that flew over them. She got shot by arrows on fire, taking the hits instead of the wagon or Link being hit, arrows now sticking up from her all over her body. "Damn, when do we get there"?! Halan spoke up with a groan as she slammed against the enemies stead, making the beasts slam against a rocky wall they were passing by. They eventually arrived at the gate of the entrance of Kakariko after it felt like she had run around forever alongside Link. Halan didn't take the time to stop at the gate, simply phasing through it like she had done at other times. She continued running to the village, not even realizing that the rest of them were staying behind to open up the gate before they could enter the village more normally.

She saw them coming into the village a couple minutes later. The Zora child was getting taken care of by Ronado once they arrived, the others talking while the night fell while Halan fixed herself up in her own corner alone. After taking out the arrows stuck in her  arms, fixing up the bandages around her arms afterwards. She began the process to dry her gun for the second time in the same day. "I'll just keep the gun in Kakariko instead of bringing it with me. If I can guess we'll have to deal with more water" Halan quietly spoke to herself as she cleaned the wet gun, before she noticed Colin walking towards her with a worried look on his face. "Halan, you're ok? I saw you full of arrows when you arrived here"? Colin asked with a concerned tone as he observed her put her gun together like he had seen her do countless times before. "I'm fine, bring that inside" She said calmly as she handed him her gun for him to put away somewhere, it was a bit heavy to him but he managed to bring it inside rather easily. Halan made her way to where the older woman and Link were ready to speak about something important.

"Just the monster I wanted to see, I wanted to give you something" The older woman said with a smile as she got closer to Halan who lazily walked up to them. "Give me something"? She repeated with a confused tone as she tilted her head, wondering about what she would be given and why she was being given something in the first place. The older woman turned to get something from a wooden box nearby, it looked like a harness of some kind. "You'll need to take off that big red shirt you're wearing" The older woman said with a gesture, to which Halan only gave a confused look. "Take off, hoodie" Link spoke up so she could understand what she had to do, Halan took off her hoodie as she understood what she had been asked to do so the older woman could give her the harness thing. "I'm Telma" Telma took that time to introduce herself to the younger woman as she showed her how to put on the harness correctly. The straps on her front going under her breasts and on the level of her collar bones.

The younger woman looked back behind her, noticing that there seems to be a small surface that is magnetic. Halan tested it out, making sure it wouldn't restrict her movements, which it didn't seem to do. She tested out how it worked, now able to move around with the metal bar on her back, it also worked as well while she would wear her hoodie too. "This is what I've been waiting for"! Halan exclaimed as she fell to her knees dramatically, seemingly almost to be weeping from joy at the gifted harness she now had on her. Now she could move around with empty hands. She walked inside to get ready for bed, not even waiting for Link as she knew he would be doing a bunch of stuff before even thinking of going to bed himself. It was very unlike him but she now assumed that he would be back to normal after all the adventures they had to go through.

Notes:

Hey, author here! It always takes a while to write this story out as I still follow how the game goes. Passed the 8 hours mark on the 26 hours video. Which is close to 2/5 done with the video. About 7500~ words on this chapter. The chapters will take more time as I have a few more fics to work on at a time.
