Work Text:
It was a peaceful evening. Winter had made its way into Piltover and night was coming sooner. Somewhere in the city, away from the cold, Jayce and Viktor were spending some calm time in their apartment. The older was reading a book, something about science like always, on the livingroom couch while his partner was fiddling with something at the table.
Viktor interrupted his reading to look at Jayce. Watching his boyfriend working and grunting because something isn't functioning the way it should, he thinks of the last week's event, Vi and Caitlyn's wedding.
It was a nice ceremony, with only a few people. He had been invited as Jayce +1 since his man is friends with Vi. What had marked Viktor that day was the exchange of vows, where they promised each other love and fidelity forever. A really intimate promise. Something he really wished he and Jayce would do one day.
"We should get married." Viktor suddenly blurted out.
Jayce had stopped in his tracks, clearly shocked by the unexpected confession.
"What the heck Viktor ?!"
He puts the tool he had been using down before turning to the other man, eyes wide open.
"I think we should get married, like your friends." Viktor simply repeated.
"That was the worst proposition I ever heard !"
"Somebody already asked you this ?"
"Of course not, you idiot ! Vi told me how Caitlyn propositioned to her after taking her to a nice restaurant. I mean, it was prepared. And not dropped like you just did ! You don't even have a ring !"
"Ah, I understand. I'm sorry... I'm not very good at it."
"And why now of all the time you could've asked ?"
"I don't know. It's just..." Viktor seems to babble with his words, looking at his knees. "Reading while watching you work on some project made me realize how much I want to spend the rest of my life like this, with you." He blushed. "I really want to be more than just boyfriends. After all we've been through together. Plus, the girls' wedding has been on my mind lately, making me wonder if we could do the same, if you agree."
Jayce slowly opened his mouth but nothing came out. He never thought Viktor would be the one to initiate that, and certainly not like this. Even if it still kind of surprising. But he would lie if he said that he hadn't had the same thought last week.
"Well, you're right. I want that too."
"So, is your answer yes ?" Viktor hopefully asked.
"I don't know. Maybe if you ask me properly you'll find out."
Viktor smiled at that. Carefully, he puts his book down, stands up and walks in front of Jayce. He didn't kneel down due to his leg, instead, he took Jayce's hand in his and softly kissed his knuckles.
"Jayce Talis, will you make me the honor of becoming my husband ?"
"Yes Viktor, the answer always has been yes." Jayce responded, tenderly taking Viktor's face between his hands to kiss him.
