Summary
It starts like this. Clark Kent has a hopeless crush on a woman who's out of his league. Bruce Wayne has a newly-acquired kid he feels ill-equipped to raise. Superman is still finding his feet. And Batman has an unshakeable suspicion that Superman surely can't be all that he seems.

Then he took a deep breath and he changed. He ironed out every fold in his posture and his face until he looked like Superman again. His shoulders were broad, his gaze was confident, and his smile showed no sign of embarrassment or fear.
It’s genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
Especially since Bruce knows that change. He’s seen it in the mirror before entering parties or nightclubs. He’s always referred to it, internally, as 'putting on my better face.' The façade is his least favourite part of the day, ranking just below 'getting punched by supervillains.'
The idea that Superman is just Kal's better face, that would explain a lot.
It would also mean Bruce isn't alone.

Summary
Bruce is poisoned at yet another gala and he calls for the only person he can trust enough to get him to safety, secret identities be damned. So why is he being taken away by some stranger and where is Superman?

Bruce frowns and tries to focus his swimming vision. Something isn’t right. This isn’t the bright blue and red he’s been mentally preparing for. The material is all wrong and it feels scratchy brushing against his skin. Superman’s suit isn’t scratchy. It’s smooth and comforting to touch; whatever he’s touching isn’t. This isn’t Superman, this is that stranger and his weird suit. It’s- it is-
“So ugly,” Bruce mumbles at the offending greyish brown fabric he’s got his cheek pressed against.- Language:

Bruce Wayne is under suspicion of being The Batman, and to get the investigators off his tail, he needs to prove that he is a normal billionaire with normal relationships that tie him to the mundane world. The problem is, the only way to do that is to lie and say he’s about to get married to Clark Kent, the shy reporter from The Daily Planet who also happens to be Superman.
