Chapter Text
They had tried to watch the stars together once before.
Karamatsu had invited Chibita over to his house one weekend, so that he could have company up on the rooftop. The two had been dating for a short while, and hadn’t the time (or money) for many dates, or even time alone for that matter. Ever since Karamatsu’s brothers found out about his affair with the oden stand owner, they hadn’t stopped bugging him about it.
But, if there was one thing Karamatsu had learned, it was that his brothers wouldn’t dare follow him if he was going to the roof with a guitar in his hand.
So, he and Chibita had gone to the Matsuno rooftop alone, sitting quietly beside each other and gazing at the night sky contently. Karamatsu was strumming his guitar, making up a little tune as he went along. Even when it was dark out, he still wore his sunglasses.
“The truth is, I’ve been wanting to watch the stars with you.” Karamatsu admitted with a grin on his face, though his cheeks were dusted pink.
Chibita scoffed. “Pfft, you call this stargazing? You can barely see the stars out here, damn it!” He opened his arms toward the sky, and it was true - very few stars could actually be seen in such a busy city.
“Eh? W-Well, I just thought it would be romantic, you know?” Turning his head away to hide his red face, Karamatsu tried to keep his cool façade up but was failing.
Chibita couldn’t help but smile a little. He never had been a very romantic person, but Karamatsu was trying so hard to show him affection in the most cliché ways possible. It really warmed his heart, gave him butterflies or something.
“Tell you what,” He nudged Karamatsu with his elbow. “I’ll take you somewhere where we can see lots of stars, okay?”
And that’s how the two of them ended up on Chibita’s moped a week later, driving away from the city, the lights, the people. It was a little awkward having Karamatsu hold onto his much shorter boyfriend’s back, but it was also incredibly comforting to have someone there. It wasn’t often that Chibita got to go on a ride with someone.
After a while, Chibita finally pulled over into a nearby park. Chibita parked his moped near the sidewalk and grabbed his boyfriend’s hand as he hopped off. Karamatsu let himself be lead through the seemingly endless grass, and once they climbed a small hill, Chibita stopped walking and looked up, pointing up at the sky with his free hand.
It was no milky way, but it certainly was an improvement from the rooftop view. The stars marking the sky mixed with his boyfriend standing there with him made Karamatsu suddenly feel at ease. He let go of Chibita’s hand and plopped himself down on the ground, laying on his back and not taking his eyes off the sky. Chibita followed, laying close beside him.
“This really is nice…” Karamatsu mumbled to both himself and Chibita. Above, he could recognize a few constellations from when Choromatsu was into astrology back in middle school. Chibita grunted a reply, pressing himself closer to Karamatsu.
The two layed peacefully in silence for a while, until a line of light and stardust suddenly danced across the sky, though it was gone just as quickly as it came.
“Ah, a shooting star!” Chibita extended his arm, pointing towards the sky just before the line faded.
“Heh, did you make a wish?” Karamatsu turned his head toward his lover, his eyes twinkling.
“Oh, no I didn’t. They’re just too fast, dammit!” Chibita sighed and looked back at Karamatsu. “Did you wish for something?”
“Heh, I wished to be by your side of course!” Karamatsu closed his eyes with a grin, obviously proud of that one.
Chibita playfully shoved his painful boyfriend, chuckling. “Shut up, idjit! Besides, I’m already right here!”
“Well, I guess my wish came true then, didn’t it?”
Damn. Chibita walked right into that one didn’t he. He could only blush and laugh nervously as he rubbed the back of his head. “I guess it did, dammit.”
Suddenly, Karamatsu grabbed Chibita’s hand and pulled him towards him, almost on top of him before bringing him into an embrace. Chibita couldn’t even protest before it happened. Not that he minded, he just melted into Karamatsu’s arms anyway.
The two layed there for what seemed like forever before Chibita lifted himself up, gazing softly into Karamatsu’s eyes. His heart was pounding in his chest, and their faces were so close he could feel the other’s breath on his skin. He looked at Karamatsu’s eyes, brown and glossed, his rosy red cheeks, his lips… and he finally closed the distance between them.
The kiss was short, and inexperienced, but something that neither of them wanted to stop. After a few seconds, Chibita broke the kiss and pressed his forehead to Karamatsu’s, his breath shaking with nervouness and excitement.
I’m glad you’re here with me. The words weren’t spoken but Chibita could see them very clearly in the way Karamatsu looked at him. He was glad, too.
Once they caught their breaths, Karamatsu pulled him in for another
kiss, and for a while they forgot about the stars.
