Chapter Text
Buck played with his fingers as he sat in the courtroom and Chase Mackey declared that he accepted the money. He did not want to look anyone in the eyes from his firehouse. He knew that they would be judging him for it... they would be thinking that he is even at a lower point in his life than Buck 1.0 ever was. He didn't want to but had to glance up as Mackey sat down with a smirk on his face and grabbed his tight. It was muscle memory to look for his team if he was hurt or scared, but he saw pure hatred. So he closed his eyes and tried to block the feeling of Mackey's hand on his inner tight. He needed to make sure he didn't flinch under his hand. He knew that the guy loved him to the moon and back and this is the exact reason why they got into a fight yesterday.
"Whar do you mean you don't want the money?" asked Chase angrily as he stepped closer to his boyfriend.
"I love them and you know I just wanted my job back, not the money..." murmured Buck as he looked at his partner pleadingly. "You know that I only wanted to go back to my family, right?"
"Well, it' too late for that Sweetheart..." smirked Chase as he grabbed Buck's arm and pushed him onto the couch. "Watch how much hatred can you see in their eyes... they are not your family anymore..."
Buck's eyes got teary as he watched his family struggle during the questioning. He saw the hatred, but he saw the pain as well.
"They told me they would love me anyway..." said Buck as he looked into Chase's eyes.
"Oh, Sweetheart... they don't love you... don't you remember what they said during the whole fiasco to you? That you are exhausting? That you should just suck it up?" asked Mackey as he gently hugged Buck to his side and closed the laptop. "The only one that loves you is me..."
"No, they promised..." whined Buck.
"They lied." said Mackey gently.
"They would never!" sprung up from the couch. "Don't talk about them like that, they would never lie to me!"
"Stop shouting, Sweetheart!" stood up Chase angrily.
"NO! THEY LOVE ME ANYWAY!" shouted Buck as his tears rolled down his beautiful face. Chase grabbed his arm and turned him around only to slap him hard. "Chase?"
"I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP! THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS THEY DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE! THEY ALREADY TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP, DIDN'T THEY?!" asked Mackey as he shook Buck's whole body only to push him to the ground. "If you do not want to lose me too then you should just take the money..."
"I'm sorry..." cried Buck as he kneeled in front of his boyfriend. "I didn't mean to argue, my bad. What can I do so you will forgive me?"
"Let me fuck your mouth stupid and take the fucking money." said Mackey with a smile on his face.
As the team looked at Buck they thought they saw a teardrop slipping through his face but they diverted their gaze onto Mackey since he told the judge that Buck would take the money.
"What?" murmured Eddie as he wanted to stand up and run to his best friend.
"Your honor, I can assure you that my client will never even go near any fire department if they give him the amount that they promised to him..." smirked Mackey as he put his hand on the shoulder of Buck. "Right, Mr. Buckley?"
"Yes." said Buck but it all sounded wrong. After they were allowed to leave with the knowledge that Buck chose the money instead of them and that he needed to go to work for 2 more weeks, they wanted to talk.
"Buck!" Bobby called out to his son. The blue-eyed man stopped but Mackey pushed him and he stumbled. "Buck!"
Bobby was faster than anyone to catch the boy he had seen as his son. Mackey wanted to remove Bobby's hands from him, but Buck was holding onto them for dear life.
"I'm sorry, Cap." said Buck gently and let go of his hand only to step into Mackey's arms. "I'm really sorry."
"I didn't like the sound of that, Cap." said Hen as she stepped closer with the whole team.
"Me neither." said Bobby as he watched Buck exit the building with Mackey. "Something is definitely wrong with him..."
"Maybe he just doesn't want to talk to us?" asked Eddie angrily as he rolled his eyes. "They are together... he touched Buck in the courtroom as well. He was grabbing his tights and you know what else."
"I do not think he would do that." said Chim with a frown. "He was definitely weird... he stopped calling Maddie since we ran into him at the supermarket."
"You just can't accept that he chose the money. Maybe we got it wrong all along, and he was always after the money." said Eddie as he walked out.
"I think something is definitely wrong with him..." said Bobby to the other team members." And I will get it out of him."
The next day Buck was on the same shift as they were but he was running late by 30 minutes so they were standing around and looking for him. They frowned as Buck emerged from Mackey's car and after a goodbye kiss ran into the station.
"Where's the Jeep?" asked Chim as he followed him into the dressing room. "Since when are you together?"
"I... I so- I mean it needs to be repaired." said quietly Buck. "We are together since he took my case..."
"Not very ethical if you ask me..." said Chim.
"Well, it's a good thing I didn't ask you then..." Buck rolled his eyes as he dropped his bag to the floor. "Now can you move out from my personal space so I can change, dear in-law?"
It took Chim by surprise and even left the changing room. He went up to the loft and plopped down right next to Hen.
"He got the nerve to sass me after he is the one leaving us and being late..." murmured Chim.
"He did what now?" asked Eddie angrily.
"Calm down!" warned Hen as Buck limped up the stairs. "Buck does your leg hurt or something? Do you need me to check on it?"
"No, I'm fine, thank you." smiled Buck shily as he limped towards the kitchen island only to make the coffee for his family since he always did that. He even hummed as he prepared the drinks and then delivered to them. "Here is yours Hen, Chim please look out it's hot and Eddie here's yo..."
"I don't want it." said Eddie.
"I already made it for you, so please take it." said Buck gently as he wanted to hand the mug to Eddie.
"I don't want it." Eddie pushed his mug back and the hot liquid spilled on Buck's hand who let go of the mug only to catch it again and spilling the hot coffee on himself completely. He placed the mug gently onto the table as Chim and Hen started to fuss around him. "Buck, I..."
"It didn't burn you, did it?" asked Buck with pure hope in his voice as he grabbed Eddie's hand. The man shook his head. "Good, I'm glad. Don't worry about the mug I saved it. I know you love it very much..."
"Buck, I asked you to take those fucking clothes down!" whined Hen as she undid the buttons of the youngest uniform. Buck didn't even flinch as she ripped it off of him, just gently smiled at Eddie before focusing the the fussing medic. "Look at you, you fucking burned yourself, Buckaroo."
"it's OK, I am clumsy anyways." shrugged Buck and tried to walk away, but Hen grabbed his arm.
"I need to treat them..." said Hen gently.
"It's OK, no need. I will just take a cold shower and it will be alright." smiled Buck as he patted Hen's shoulder as he walked pass her.
"What the fuck?" asked Hen angrily. "Don't you limp away from me, young man!"
"What happened?" asked Bobby as he walked up to the loft. "Why is my son naked?"
"He burned himself with the help of this stubborn idiot." sighed Chim as he stood up to follow his in-law."I will force him to let me treat them."
