“I wanted to inform you that the placement decision has been finalised. The move will take place tomorrow.” The social worker says.
Buck’s throat goes tight. Tomorrow. He looks through the doorway, Theo is humming to himself, completely unaware. “Tomorrow?”
“Yes.”
“But it’s Christmas Eve.” Buck didn’t know what to say. He was making cookies, he had perfectly planned the evening to lay out Christmas presents after Theo went to sleep.
“I understand that.”
“Then-“ Buck stops as his voice cracks. “Please.”
There is silence on the other end. “Mr. Buckley-”
“Please. Just-” He presses his free hand against his forehead. “Let him have Christmas.”
OR
Theo is taken away on Christmas and Buck crashes out over it.

“Memory loss?” Evan frowns, because he wishes he had memory loss. He remembers pretty much everything about the last three hellish months of his life. At least, what he was awake for. “Like, amnesia?”
“Exactly like amnesia. You seem to be missing a few years of your memory. You believe you are twenty-one years old, correct?”
“Y-yeah.” Evan nods, mind racing, searching for the memories the doctor is telling him he’s lost.
“You are currently twenty-seven years old.” The doctor says. “You’ve been living in Los Angeles for a while now, according to your boss. You met him earlier, although I’m not sure how much you remember.”
“The guy with the rosary?” Evan’s voice catches. He remembers the stranger vaguely. He remembers being scared.

Or: Buck is injured during a call and wakes up as Evan. Evan's last memory is being held captive by a cult leader who kidnapped him while he was living in Peru.

Buck caught Chimney moving to intervene between them but the words were already falling past Buck’s lips before he even realized he was speaking.
“I have a boyfriend.”
Buck stopped when he registered the words.
So, did Chimney before he shot Buck a look over his shoulder like Buck had grown a second head. Probably because, like Buck, Chimney knew that Buck did not have a boyfriend. In fact, he’d been single for a painfully long time since he and Taylor split up. Single and probably very obviously hung up on his best friend who didn’t seem to notice the way Buck would throw himself into oncoming traffic if Eddie asked.
