A mission covered in flowers and ink

Summary:

Loid is forced to work at a shopping center. Thankfully he can work in a flower parlor. Sadly he's close to a tattoo parlor and they are not good people. Well maybe not all of them.

Notes:

I love tattoo and flower parlor stories🫶

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

In the life of a spy missions are one after another. The word rest is not something that exists.

Spys without jobs are nothing.

You give up your name, life, identity, and any semblance of who you once were just to get a new one every few months at least.

There's always a weird identity that comes every now and then. A small resturant suspected of carring drugs or selling humans is more often than you would think. Or being a mascot to test if the people working there were terrorist.

Running a flower parlor was more in the realm of reason.

This job was just a cover up investigations that they may have had of the area. If Twilight was to discover anything he was to report it to head quarters and another spy would be sent to look into it.

The flower shop was a small nice place. So Twilight couldnt complain. It was nice and small and just really delightful. The first week was made to be moving in.

If he immediately jumped into to questions and getting comfortable people would start to get suspicious.

He knew the places around him. They were a bar, a tattoo shop, a family restaurant, an animal shelter, a clothing store, and a few others.

The first week was a peaceful one. The flowers were beautiful and smelt wonderfully.
Twilight had a soft spot for flowers, so working here was a dream.

His new name he was told to go by was Loid,
Loid Forger. His story was supposed to be a man who relocated his business to this town, simple enough.

After the first week he began to understand the people around him.

The family resturant was run by a couple who had a teenage daughter with a small son who was no more than 8.

The animal shelter had many teens to young adults workimg there.

The clothing store was also quite popular, especially with the rich.

The bar was a bar but Loid had some suspicion of some gambling that occured there.

The tattoo shop was one that was a bit suspicious. People who get tattoos dont have a reputation of being the best people.

That's what Loid thought until she walked in.

Two weeks into working at the store the bell rang.

"U-um, hello?" She said.

"Ah! Welcome! What are you looking for?" He asked, turning around. A woman with a tattoo running up her neck walked in.

She had long black hair that hung above her chest that curled at the bottom with a a head band to hold it in place.

She wore dark clothes with a leather jacket.

Loid was very suspicious of what she could want. She didn't look like the type of person to get flowers.

"I work in the tattoo place over there." She said pointing, "I have someone who wants a flower tattoo so I was wondering if I could just look around for drawing refrences?" She asked.

Her voice was soft and pleasant.

"Of course!" He said. Best not to raise suspicion.

She walked in and began to examine the flowers.

"I'm Yor by the way." She said.

"Im Loid." He said, "So what flowers did your client want?" He asked.

"They wanted a sunflower, I think. There quiet the common flower." Yor said, keeping her eyes on the flowers.

"I believe roses are more common are they not?" Loid replied.

Yor chuckled a bit and looked at Loid before returning to the flowers.

"Our sunflowers are over here." He said walking towards her and guiding her.

"The rest are in bouquets." He said.

"Oh! Thank you!" She spoke cheerily.

"Am I allowed to touch them?" She asked.

"Of course!" He responded.

Yor grabbed one and began to examine all its angles.

She was so beautiful and not what Loid expected.

I mean, she could be beautiful but he wasnt expecting her to also be so beautiful, was beautiful even the right word?

Most people who work at tattoo places are often horrible are they not? They are in his line of work.

To be fair, most people are often bad in his line of work.

While examining her he noticed her hand and how there was something on it.

"What's that on your hand?" He said gesturing to her left hand.

She looked at her hand and set the flower back down.

"Its a rose. Common, are they not?" She said, "I actually have a full sleeve."

Loid wanted to see it but held back on asking. She took a few more minutes looking at the flowers. She was careful to see all different types. She would often trace the petals with her fingers as if to count them fast and taking in every difference or imperfection. She was quite perceptive.

After a while she set the flower down.

"Do you mind if I come back tomorrow?" Yor asked.

"Why? Didnt you get your references?" He questioned.

Yor stood up straight and shook her head, "I mainly came to see if you had what I needed. I was going to bring a peice of paper tomorrow and practice drawing them to get used to them."

Loid was surprised to say the least. She was coming back.

Was that a good or bad thing?

She could be onto him with how perceptive she was.

It also gave him the chance to watch her more. She could have more information on her store or the shopping district in general.

"Of course!" He exclaims, smiling to look as welcoming as possible.

If he said no it would be a loss and suspicious.

As they said there good byes Loid watched as she walked away.

She greeted some of the people as she walked. Loid couldnt find a reason to suspect her but he kept his guard up.

She was really something else. He shouldnt fall into anything by accident.

It was truly the first day of the mission.
