A glance out the window—
Jinta stared, watching as the first snowflake fell. His mouth formed into a deep frown as he looked at the snowflake falling.
“Outside is cold, cold as I feel.”
Slowly, snow gathered outside of the window, a coldness to the whiteness and—
The whiteness of the snow reminded him of her hair, and he gagged slightly before turning his head to look at—
Jinta closed his eyes, flopping onto his back, while his mother asked if he wanted to go outside when he didn ’t want to.
—outside—
Outside reminded him too much of what happened, of what was lost.
