Work Text:
It was probably inevitable that the other residents of The House Of Strong would get sick of Strong Bad's antics. He sucked and was very aware of this. He just wished they didn't kick him out for the night.
They promised they'd let him back in in the morning, at least. They wanted to teach him a lesson and all, but if they made the exile any longer, he'd probably start throwing bricks through Strong Sad's window (though, he might just do that, anyways).
Either way, he'd no doubt have to figure out... some kind of sleeping arrangement.
Luckily for him, casually walking into other people's houses without asking was pretty par for the course in Free Country.
Unluckily for him, though, all the options he had were total crap. Most people in town either hated him or had very strange ideas as to what constituted as a house.
After weighing his options not-so-carefully, Strong Bad sighed. Looks like the only person who had a house and wouldn't immediately kick him out was Homestar.
With a fair bit of disdain in his step, Strong Bad headed toward Homestar's place. At least he might be able to yoink some snacks or something.
As he approached, though, his eye was caught by a figure lying down on the ground in front of Homestar's. Upon further inspection, that figure was definitely Homestar himself.
"...You good, man?" Strong Bad asked as he finally approached, nudging the other man with his foot. Not that he actually cared how he was doing.
"Ack- Whuh..." Homestar shuddered, turning his head to the sound. "S'that you, Strong Bad?"
"Yep. World famous," he replied dryly. "Mind explaining what you're doin' out here?"
"Out..? What're you-"
The athlete looked around himself, then back his house.
"Aw, dangit! Look's like I'm sleep-fallin'-out-my-bedroom-window again!"
Strong Bad looked up to the window, which indeed seemed to be open.
"Nice goin', Ms. Westenra," he quipped, nudging Homestar's side again. "Now, up and at 'em."
"Just five more minutes..."
"Up! And! Freakin'! At 'em!" he insisted, lightly kicking Homestar with each word.
"Ow! Knock it off! What's got your shiny leather pants all twisted?" Homestar asked.
"My stupid siblings decided to unionize and voted to kick me out 'til morning. You got the only place in Free Country without someone who hates my guts livin' inside of it."
Despite just getting repeatedly kicked and yelled at by the wrestleman above him, Homestar still smiled proudly at the honor of being to sole tolerator of him.
"Well, what're you waitin' for, Baddie Man? Get inside, get comfortable," he said, picking himself up and taking his keys from his... pocket..? Why was he sleeping with his keys in his pocket, anyways? Now wasn't the time to think logistically about it.
With a shrug, Strong Bad entered into Homestar's house, snooping around idly as he was let in. It was admittedly much nicer than The House of Strong, mostly due to the fact that Strong Bad didn't live there.
"Make yourself at home! My casa is Sue's casa!" said Homestar, locking the door behind him.
"Who's Sue?"
"Huh. I dunno!"
"...Right," Strong Bad huffed. He plopped down on the couch with a light 'pomf', relaxing and stretching his arms a bit. "Well, guess I'm gonna conk out, then. Night."
"Wait, so quick?"
Strong Bad lifted his head back up, turning his gaze back to the no-armed whitey. He suddenly looked like a mix of confused and almost.. sad?
"Why, you need somethin'?" Strong Bad raised a brow.
Homestar shuffled a bit where he stood. His brow furrowed as he seemingly tried to think of something good to say, before lighting up and smiling awkwardly.
"Well, obviously I need someone to make sure I stay in bed this time!" he finally said. "Can't be fallin' outta two windows in one night! That's just silly."
The wrestler put his head back down and closed his eyes. "I'm not gonna babysit you, man."
"It's not babysitting. It's adultsleeping," Homestar insisted. "C'mon, man! You'll get to sleep in a bed! Comfier than a couch, y'know."
"..."
Strong Bad sighed. After a good moment of trying to debate it, he picked himself up.
"Fine. Whatever. Only 'cause I know you'll never shut up unless I do," he conceded.
"Yay!"
The idiot started towards his room, and Strong Bad soon followed suit. Homestar practically flopped onto his bed once they entered, with a grin stretching across his face. He only barely noticed his friend shooting a slightly perturbed expression his way.
"What're you lookin' at me like that for?" asked Homestar, not losing any of his pep.
"...Didn't realize you meant sharing a bed."
"Uh, yeah, duh," the athlete said. "How're you gonna stop me from fallin' out the window again unless you're holdin' me down?"
It was an innately silly situation to get flustered about, yet here Strong Bad was. His cheeks even felt a little warm. Great.
"Are you wanting me to just, like... latch onto you like a koala?" asked Strong Bad.
"Sure! I'm about the size and shape of a body pillow. It'll be like huggin' one of those!" Homestar assured. "'Cept alive, I guess."
Strong Bad stood there for far too long, staring down at Homestar and attempting to formulate any sort of excuse not to share a bed with him.
No matter how hard he tried to worm his way out of it, though, he couldn't deny that some part of him did kinda want it. Though he would vehemently deny the notion, there was something about Homestar. Some sweet, stupid quality of him that he'd fallen victim to.
After giving an indignant groan, he silently crawled into bed beside the other. He carefully wrapped his arms around the taller man, as loosely as he could manage. Homestar, on the other hand, immediately locked his invisible arms tightly around Strong Bad.
Despite his position, Strong Bad had to admit. This was... nice. He hadn't exactly experienced much physical touch outside of rough-housing in quite a while, so anything gentle was...
Nope, he wouldn't allow himself to admit that part. No way. It was Homestar, after all.
"See? There's no way I'm wanderin' off with you here," assured Homestar.
"Uh huh. Now go to sleep already!" The sooner the guy fell asleep, the sooner Strong Bad could get a break from whatever mixed bag of emotions he was experiencing.
"Yessir!" Homestar replied before planting a quick kiss on Strong Bad's forehead. "Goodnight!"
"Wh-! Whuzzuh-? But-!"
He barely had any chance to react before Homestar closed his eyes and started snoring, leaving Strong Bad sputtering as he slowly attempted to register what just happened.
After a full minute or two of processing, and making sure Homestar was fully passed out, he shifted a bit in place. Pressing his face into Homestar's chest, he huffed.
"Yeah. G'night."
