(dirk and his splinters and their undying fealty for a boy who can't say how he feels to save his life. it's a lot of intimacy and yearning, all dirk pov, and a lot of jake not returning it the way dirk wants him to, but clearly feeling something. unfortunately not really for those who want to see a happy ending, but it's not exactly a bad ending)
