Work Text:
Viktor was sitting at an oak table in his home, immersed in papers with calculations and mumbling something under his breath, making notes on the paper here and there.
"Yeah, this there, this here... Damn, I wrote it down in the wrong column. Phenomenal... Great, it came together, it worked out... Damn. How come I didn't think of it before?! That was the solution to all our problems! Now the hextech will definitely work!" Viktor joyfully cried out, lifting one of the sheets to the light, jumping up from his seat."Need to tell Jayce immediately..."
Viktor quickly ran out of the small apartment in Piltover, where he spent the evenings, without even putting on a coat, although it was late autumn outside. He spent most of his life in the lab, but he literally could not live at work all the time. Jayce drove him out of there time after time with almost a poker in his hands, so he had to come up with options for existence. And the option literally turned up itself: the apartment was equally close to both the place of their experiments and the descent into Zaun. Viktor had seen many times how advantageous this apartment was, and this was no exception.
Breathing heavily, Viktor opened the door to the building and went inside. Despite the rather late hour, he knew that his partner was still inside. He went up to the second floor and knocked on the door, waiting for Talis, only to immediately bombard him with his own thoughts and conclusions and their confirmation from various areas of their research, entering inside and moving to the slate, making notes with chalk.
Jayce opened his mouth in shock, but almost immediately got his bearings, shaking his head.
"Viktor, let's start from the beginning. You just came in, but I'm already confused. Let's start with the point that what you're doing here without any outerwear? Have you seen the weather?"
"Yes, I saw it, I saw it. It's cold and shitty, as usual in the winter in Piltover, Jayce. I didn't even have time to freeze while running, I was just out of breath. So, are we going to continue working or are we going to discuss the shape of the clouds in the sky? " Viktor blurted out in one breath, turning to face Talis, actively gesturing with his hand with the chalk. "Work? Excellent. So, listen. I noticed that the properties of hextech are a little different than we assumed... Naturally, we work with magic..."
"We'll get back to talking about clothes later, but now I'll say it again: slow down and tell me everything in order, I know you can do more than just babble,"Jayce reminded with a smile, examining the small drawings, instructions and lines of clumsy text that had recently appeared on the surface of the board, rubbing his chin.
"Okay, I'll try. I have so many thoughts in my head, as if I had discovered a new planet, but It's not that. I mean, I think that figured out how magic can coexist with technology, - Viktor shook his hands in the air, mentally calming down a bunch of incoherent thoughts." So..."

They finished only late at night. Although it was no longer possible to call it night, rather early in the morning. In a couple of hours the sun would rise, and they hadn't even gone home yet, deciding to allow themselves a day off after such a sharp work progress.
The boards creaked slightly under the guys' feet as they went down. Talis chatted incessantly, not even noticing the absence of Viktor's dark brown cloak, the color of freshly brewed and aromatic coffee. Jayce was going to leave and thought that the inventor from the Lower City was doing the same, but the second decided to simply accompany him down, staying in the lab. He decided to think later about how he would get home, where his outerwear hung neatly on a hanger. At the moment, however, nothing came to mind, and he, having put these thoughts on the back burner, followed Talis, who was putting on his raglan coat on the go.
Opening the door, Jayce let Viktor go ahead of him, then closing the door and going down a few steps below Viktor.
"Wait. Are you really were about to leave in this?" Jayce looked at Viktor, who was dressed in a completely inappropriate winter or autumn weather clothes.
"Well... I wasn't going to leave," the inventor, wrapping himself in a shawl, chattered his teeth, turning his head towards the laboratory windows.
Jayce went back up to him, taking off his coat. Talis threw clothes on the other inventor, which had managed to warm up even in such a short time, absorbing the warmth of the owner. The Piltover's person body was always hot, even on the coldest evenings, you could warm up someone else's in his hands, just touch them.
Viktor looked at himself in this outfit, overwhelmed, and only after a minute or two did it dawn on him that he needed to return it, and quickly, before his partner got sick. He started to take the fabric off himself, but Talis stopped him, lowering his gloved hands onto his thin shoulders. A gust of cold wind blew and Viktor closed his eyes. Oh, how many times had he regretted flying out of the house with calculations and not even grabbing a scarf, and now he was getting it all.
"How absent-minded you are, after all," Jayce said softly, watching Viktor's cheeks bloom with a blush (from the truly winter wind or the words that were spoken, who knows?) and lifting his chin with a hand in a leather glove, the other still holding the coat on one of the guy's shoulders. "But you're mine absent-minded."
And Talis kisses him. Clumsily and blurrily, like a boy in a school toilet, but with all the feelings he had. And Viktor understands and accepts his signal, kissing back. A pleasant warmth began to spread in Viktor's soul, he did not even notice how quickly he warmed up while they kissed again and again, enjoying the moment and almost choking in the warmth and even heat of their own passion and love, which they so suddenly found. Even too suddenly, which makes Viktor feel awkward with himself. But he doesn't feel that he is doing something wrong, doesn't feel that he is forcing himself to love his partner. And Viktor enjoys Jayce, absorbs the heat of his body and the caress of his kisses like a sponge.
Finally breaking away from each other, a part of Jayce's peach hygienic lipstick remains on Viktor's lips, which the guy immediately asks, touching his lips with the tips of his calloused (from research and writing) fingers:
"Lipstick, Jayce?"
"My lips are chapped.
Clear and concise, as always. Even after showing love, he does not change himself. Viktor purrs contentedly, a gloriously satisfied cat, snuggling up to the guy's chest, apparently the answer suited him perfectly.
"Hey, Jayce, look, the first snow this year!" Viktor looked at the sky with delight, from where snowflakes were falling in huge numbers.
One of them fell on the guy's nose and immediately melted, leaving behind only a wet puddle. In response to this, Jayce laughed loudly, kissing him on the top of his head, already full of snow, and led him back into the building, to the lab. There is no one there today and there will be no one there, which means they will be able to enjoy each other alone to their heart's content.
None of them will return home today, but neither of them is bothered at all, because each of them's home is where the other is. They have so much to do, so much to try and so much to share, no lists will suffice. Although they don't need lists.
And outside their windows the first snow of the year was falling, carrying another pair of hot hearts into winter, who will no longer have to meet cold evenings apart.
