Work Text:
When Arisu finds Chishiya asleep on the couch in their shared living room, he stops in his tracks and stares.
He stares because he doesn't think he has ever seen Chishiya sleep out in the open like this. He knows the man is an avid sleeper and could fall asleep almost anywhere. It's just that Arisu doesn't think Chishiya feels comfortable enough in most places to do so.
He stares because Chishiya looks ... well, he looks really cute. He's lying on his side, with one hand pushed under his cheek while the other pulls the fuzzy blanket up to his chin. He breathes slowly, evenly in the soft light of the string of fairy lights Kuina had strung along their bookshelves, and he looks content. It's not an expression Arisu sees on the other man's face very often.
He also stares because he isn't sure what he's supposed to do now. Should he just leave him there? Should he wake him up? Niragi isn't home yet but he might bring his new boyfriend, and Arisu likes Tatta well enough, but he doesn't think Chishiya wants to be found sleeping in the living room by someone they don't really know yet.
He also doesn't think Chishiya would appreciate being woken up all together. He doesn't get enough sleep as it is, with all those really long shifts at the hospital, and Arisu really doesn't want to draw Chishiya's wrath.
He stands in front of the couch a little longer, internally fretting but eventually coming to a conclusion: Neither waking him up nor leaving him there will do. No, there's a third option, one that makes him blush only thinking about it. Good thing Niragi isn't home. Arisu doesn't think he would have the guts to do what he's about to do otherwise.
He crouches down and carefully snakes his arms underneath Chishiya's body. The man mumbles something but doesn't wake up, his breathing still slow and even.
Slowly, Arisu pushes himself up until he is standing again, now with a wrapped-up cocoon of a man in his arms. He looks down and gives himself a moment to simply soak it in. What he is doing. That he has Chishiya in his arms, his head pushed against his shoulder, his blonde hair tickling his neck. That Chishiya is still sleeping, still feeling safe, not surging up and scrambling away from him.
Niragi would tease him relentlessly for it if he knew.
Carefully he makes his way across the hallway and to Chishiya's door. It's left ajar and Arisu pushes it open with his shoulder and steps inside the room.
It's tidy, except for the bed that has books and notes strewn across the lower half. A small lamp on the bedside table dispenses enough light for him to find the way to the bed and to lower Chishiya onto it.
He picks up the books and notes and makes sure not to disturb them too much before placing them on Chishiya's desk. Then he returns to the bed and pulls the duvet over Chishiya's body. He hopes being wrapped in two blankets won't turn out too hot even for Chishiya's cat-like tendencies and is about to turn off the light when a hand grips his wrist.
"Arisu."
It's mumbled, barely audible, but it's there and it nearly gives Arisu a heart attack. He tries to step away from the bed, to put some space between him and the man in case he overstepped, but Chishiya doesn't let him.
"Arisu", he mumbles again and now his eyes are open.
"Sorry", Arisu stutters. "I didn't mean to wake you, I just thought you'd be more comfortable sleeping in your own-"
His apology gets interrupted when Chishiya lets go of his wrist and reaches up to grab his shoulder instead. "Arisu", he says for a third time, and Arisu barely has time to support himself on the mattress with his other hand before Chishiya pulls him in and presses their mouths together.
It's a simple kiss. Slow. Soft. Just lips trailing lips, and it's over before Arisu has time to really come to terms with what is happening.
Chishiya leans back, eyes still partly open and ... is there a blush on his nose? He smiles, not his Cheshire grin but a real smile, small and soft, before sinking back into his pillow. "Arisu."
A moment later he is fast asleep, his chest rising and falling in even breaths.
Arisu stares.
He turns around, looks at the door. There's noises outside, Niragi having finally returned with Tatta in tow. He can't go out there now, it would give off the wrong impression.
Would it?
Would it be the wrong impression?
He sinks down to the floor, his back against the bed frame. His face is burning.
He raises his fingers to his lips, his eyes wide.
Oh God, what is he supposed to do now?
