Chapter Text
“Hey! What’s the big idea?” Mammon asks as all fifteen of them assemble in the House of Lamentation’s dining hall.
You stare at all of them as tears fill your eyes. “I called all of you here to say goodbye.”
Silence fills the room as everyone stares at you, stunned.
Finally, Asmo tilts his head and smiles at you. “What do you mean, hon?”
“I… I don’t know how to tell you all this but… none of this is real. It’s all just a game. And now they’re shutting the game down.”
“Whaddya mean this ain’t real?”
Tears start to drip slowly down your cheeks. “This is a mobile game, and they’re shutting down the servers. This isn’t real. None of you are real.”
“LOL! If this were a game this is where we’d start an epic quest to save our world.”
“I agree with Levi,” Satan says, “in a way. There’s no way we’re only part of a game. If we were, then we wouldn’t have all of those memories from before you came to the Devildom.”
Beel nods. “And what about all the meals we’ve shared? And snacks we’ve eaten? How can those be made up?”
“That’s the hardest part of all,” you say, crying openly. “This is just a stupid game, but I’ve spent time here and time with all of you every day for years. You’re all so real to me, and I don’t want to say goodbye.”
“Are you sure you didn’t just have a bad dream? Maybe the fact that this is a game is the part that isn’t real.”
You smile at him. “I wish that were true, Belphie.”
The room flickers before you, and all eyes widen in surprise.
“This is a new kind of trap, right? You really had me going,” Thirteen says. “You splurged on the special effects!”
You look down as the room flickers again. That’s when you realize you’re the one flickering, not the room. You cry harder. “I don’t have much time left. Please believe me when I tell you it’s not my choice. I really don’t want to go.”
“I don’t detect any magic,” Solomon says, worry crossing his face. “This isn’t a spell gone awry.”
The room flickers more and more. You sob but can’t help but smile as you look at all of them. “I’m going to miss you all so much. I love each and every one of you.”
“We love you, too. Don’t go! We still have so many things to do!” Luke says.
You smile, open your mouth to reply, but never get to.
“What is going on?” Mephisto asks as you blink out of existence.
“We must find out what happened to them,” Lucifer says as he stands up.
The room starts to shake.
“We should split into two groups,” Diavolo says. “We’ll have to figure out what’s going on with the Devildom as well.”
“I don’t think we’ll have time,” Raphael says. “The room is starting to melt.”
“We’ll find a way to save them and the Devildom,” Simeon says reassuringly.
The room they’re standing in starts to grow dark.
“If we’re going to do something, we should do it now,” Solomon says, his voice still calm.
“Simeon!” Luke cries out. Then he disappears.
“I’m… really tired,” Belphie says before he disappears as well.
“Barbatos,” Diavolo says, “we put our faith in your hands.”
“Young lord?”
“Bring them back,” Lucifer snaps, his calm breaking as he watches Beel and Asmo blink out of existence. “Out of all of the infinite timelines in all of the infinite universes, there has to be at least one where we’re all still together!”
The surroundings are now a black void, and Lucifer, Diavolo, and Barbatos are the only three remaining.
“Without them—without our main character—this world doesn’t exist,” Diavolo says. “We need to go back.”
“Barbatos, please—” Lucifer disappears before he can finish his sentence.
“I shall leave it in your capable hands,” Diavolo says with a smile as he vanishes as well.
“Well. We still have much to do, and more stories to tell.” The time demon’s hands glow white as he summons all of the magic remaining in this universe.
“Shall we begin?”
