Many would assume that Xelqua had not loved their players, it was honestly hard to see it any other way from an outside perspective. They had sent them from death game to death game, no better than the ones above them.
Of course with assumptions comes the truth, and that truth is that many are wrong. It would be silly of them to not love their players yet stay up night after night, doing their best to answer their prayers.
It would be silly of them to be in said death games themself, if they had not truly loved their players. They had had no choice in these games, the Ones Above them made a deal that if they held these games then they would not Xelqua’s family, and these players are their family.
The death games had not been permanent, long breaks divided them where their players got to return to their homes, safe from those above for another day.
Xelqua worked hard to come to the agreements of the games, originally the winner would be taken by them, though after they fought hard and won the first games, the Ones Above worried that this would happen everytime, so instead they just fed off of the negative energy.
Though of course, ever the rule hater Xelqua truly was, they did everything in their power to make it less scary, and by doing this they got themselves cursed.
‘The widows curse’ they had heard it be called once, their allies had been taken from them every game, leaving Xelqua alone. This had happened every time, and the Ones Above must have gotten sick of this not stopping them from sabotaging the games, this time taking both of their allies away first…
The only proof that Mumbo and Skizz were truly ever in the game were two gravestones that stood beside each other.
The Watchers were cruel, Grian knew this. He knew this yet it was the only thing he could think when he saw the faces of his dead teammates. His dead teammates that came over only to mock him, his dead teammates whose voices had haunted him for days on end to the point he thought he was going insane.
“You traitor!” He screamed as he killed Mumbo (no, that wasn’t his Mumbo) He had been so happy that Mumbo and Skizz were here, even if not permanently that he forgot the true nature of this game, only truly reminded when Mumbo had taken him down to red.
The words that had come out of his mouth made him sick, too many memories of him and Scar in almost the exact same situation in the first game that he had to swallow down vomit.
The intentions of the game are simply, for a few weeks a group of players are brought to a world where their only goal is to kill each other. The Watchers fed off their negative energy so Grian made everything happy, even getting himself cursed.
The Ones Above fed mainly off of Grian, this was a fact that he was well aware of, and one he accepted along with the games.
So if you really believe Xelqua had not loved their players with everything they had, you’d be wrong.
