Chapter Text

It was another rainy day; Yuji was already getting tired of all that rain. He understood that rain was necessary for the balance of nature, but it had been so long, and he was getting uncomfortable.

He was a wyvern who did best in warm climates, his wings aren’t made to withstand heavy rains or even storms. So, it became a challenge to hunt.

Yuji was too big to walk in the forest in search of food — he didn't want to just set fire to the whole forest to catch something. So, his diet was basically fish from the nearby lake, but he couldn't swim deeper in search of more, and if he ate all the fish in the river, he would starve.

Yuji was a pink wyvern; his appearance was delicate and elegant; many could mistake him for a female. In a way he was still one, indirectly... since he was an omega. However, not all wyverns liked male omegas, which resulted in unnecessary fights and arguments. It wasn't Yuji's fault that he was a male.

He was too big for a female but small compared to other males. He was a combination of all the qualities of both; he had thicker legs — not that he thought they were too thick — claws and more pointed teeth. Bigger wings and harder scales, from a survival point of view, that was great... but when it came to attracting a mate, the same could no longer be said.

His coat was light pink and the scales of his belly were a light violet. His horns were small and in the same light pink tone; he had four in total, two on the side of his head that looked more fluffy, which Yuji could move, making them look even more like the fluffy ears of some other animal, and another pair on his forehead that were twisted.

Being a wyvern, his neck was long and full of small scales that resembled sakura flowers but were actually a mixture of feathers and scales — Yuji couldn't explain it very well; they looked like feathers, but they were as tough as scales. The spines on his back were small, as if they were more of an ornament than something deadly. His wings were large and had some feathers, the aerodynamic shape facilitated flight and made him able to fly faster and more accurately, not to mention that he did not make noise even though he was large. It was a spectacle to watch, a beautiful and graceful flight.

His tail was long, with feathers that hid long, twisted spines that contained poison, strong enough to knock down an adult wyvern. Something that only the omegas of their species possessed, as they ended up using it to get rid of unwanted mates that tried to force mating.

Yuji was stunningly beautiful; he wasn't a wyvern made to hunt and engage in brutal fights. Honestly, he would be a perfect decorative pet for some humans. He still wondered how omegas weren't extinct, since they were terrible hunters.

Unlike other Wyverns, Yuji had precise control over his front legs, being able to pick up fruits and fish easily without the wings getting in the way, since they could stay together close to his body, not getting in the way at all. Many might even mistake him for a drake when he was walking.

His body wasn't designed to withstand all that rain, so he had no choice but to hide in a damp and uncomfortable cave. Whenever hunger was highest, he forced himself to walk towards the river, always whimpering and groaning in discomfort from the raindrops; after all, it made his feathers heavy and messy. And Yuji cherished his appearance, so he spent hours taking care of his feathers and scales.

After days of suffering from the rain, the sun finally returned. Yuji came out of the cave excited, making plenty of happy noises. He drew attention in that immense forest, since he was a pink dot in the middle of the green.

Their species was different from the others — apart from all other attributes — they could sing melodies, usually doing it to lure males or even humans into a trap. However, as Yuji was unlucky in matters of love and didn't like the taste of human flesh, he sang when he was happy.

Yuji spread his wings, stretching them out, since in the cave there was not enough space for that. He soon flapped his wings, causing some feathers to fall off. It was incredible how such a large animal could have such a silent flapping of wings. If Yuji weren't pink, he'd be a great night hunter.

He began to fly over the forest in search of some fruit tree, or even some animal that was alone. He had even stopped humming to avoid being noticed. After flying a few more minutes, he found a large tree full of fruits. He didn't think twice until he approached and landed on the tree, carefully so as not to knock it down. Some fruits fell due to his size and some birds fled in fear.

The fruits were large and juicy, making Yuji sing again as he chewed, happy for the discovery of the tree. Some birds, realizing that he was not a threat, returned to the tree; some even landed on the immense wyvern to pick up some scales that were about to fall, along with some feathers to put in their nests. Yuji didn't care, since he would end up taking them out anyway.

With his keen hearing, he realized that some territorial battle was taking place between dragons or the like. They were far from the forest, but that worried Yuji; after all, he could very well be invading another dragon's territory without knowing. Because of the rain, he had stayed away, and now that the sun returned, he was back, but he wasn’t sure he was allowed to stay here.

Unfortunately, he was a curious wyvern and wanted to watch the fight; it wasn't his fault he got excited about seeing two males fighting. He liked to pretend that they were fighting for his company, which he knew would never happen since he was excluded from his own species for being an omega male. So, the chances of other wyvern species or even other dragon races being interested in him were null — at least he thought so, since he had lost count of how many times it had happened — so he liked to imagine that the fight was for him.

He finished eating some more fruits and began to take off to observe the fight. After he picked up enough height, he thrust his body to get to the spot as quickly as possible since he was far away and he didn't want to miss the fight.

When he got close enough, he looked for somewhere to hide. And by mere coincidence, there were several sakura trees near the place, which would be great for camouflaging himself and being able to watch the battle without being noticed.

Two wyverns were fighting. One was black, twice the size of Yuji. His body seemed full of small spines, and his wings looked like a bat’s when they were open. His horns were crooked and backward-facing, even making a kind of shield for his face. He always lowered his head to protect his face and throat, so that teeth and claws would hit his thick, long horns instead. His tail was long, and the end had a curve full of long, sharp spines.

The other wyvern caught Yuji's attention more. He was a blood red hue. He was huge, probably three times his size. His chest was broad, and his hind legs were large, full of muscles that made Yuji jealous, since his were a bit thin. He had two large black horns, curved to the side; there were some other small red horns that ran from his chin to his black horns. There was a huge ridge of spines all over his neck. When he opened his mouth, Yuji noticed the sharp teeth with fangs larger than the opposing wyvern’s.

The end of his tail was flattened, but with sharp points on the sides. His wings were large and very reminiscent of those of a dragon; they were neither thin nor smooth, covered with scales and some scars. Yuji noticed that the wyvern had beautiful blue eyes, and on his right eye there was a huge scar. He didn't know that the other had gone blind in that eye.

Yuji ended up letting out a sigh, staring at that wyvern; he was beautiful, completely different from him. He was mortal and gave a savage and dangerous image, but he still managed to be attractive to Yuji. Like a moth to a flame; he knew that this wyvern was deadly, and it was probably the type that changed mates every season.

The fight was already won by the red wyvern, who seemed to play with his opponent; it even seemed that he was laughing at the other's failed attempts at hurting him. An arrogance typical of dragons who thought they were stronger than the other races. Something that was rarely seen in a wyvern, which fascinated Yuji even more.

He was so immersed that he didn't even notice that he started singing when he saw that demonstration of strength and power. That seemed to catch the attention of the two wyverns. The red one turned his neck quickly, staring at Yuji, who realized that he was singing, making him stop and lower his head, embarrassed that he had been caught watching the fight.

Then, the red wyvern turned to his opponent, staring at him with renewed interest. As if he faced him as a true enemy, which he needed to eliminate as soon as possible, the combat was brutal and he didn't even let the black wyvern retaliate; he killed him quickly, making Yuji realize that all this time he could have ended the fight, but he was prolonging it for his own amusement.

The loud noise of a body crashing into the trees made Yuji look away toward the bloodied wyvern among the trees. Apparently, this angered the other wyvern, who growled, causing Yuji to face him again. He stared at him with piercing eyes, making Yuji unsure on how to react.

Should he leave? Beg for his life for having invaded his territory, or accept that he would probably keep the dead wyvern company? His horns, which looked like cute little ears, moved, showing that he was nervous and anxious. But apparently it wasn't the message that the wyvern understood upon seeing this.

Yuji knew he couldn't prolong that silence; his anxiety was killing him, and he wouldn't doubt that he could faint right there from fear. He adjusted himself to the branches of the tree and raised his neck, trying not to show that he was trembling with fear.

—Um, I'm sorry for invading your territory... it was raining heavily, and I needed a place to take shelter— it's not like he smelled the wyvern in the territory; his sense of smell wasn't good in rainy weather. —I was flying, and I ended up noticing your battle; I didn't want to get in the way, and I hid here.

The red Wyvern flapped his great wings, making a loud noise, as well as making the trees below stir due to the force of the wind. Yuji noticed that even the flapping of that wyvern's wings was extremely powerful. He approached, standing at a lofty height. If he lowered his neck, he could easily bite Yuji's snout.

—What a beautiful thing to find in my territory!— He made a hoarse noise, as if he was happy. He also stretched his neck more and spread his wings, as if he wanted to show off.

—Hm, the rain?— Was it just him, or was that a courtship demonstration? — That was new; he didn't know how these things worked.

—I heard you making a noise, very pleasant by the way... What was it?

—I... I was singing— he was getting a little embarrassed. —Sometimes I end up doing this without realizing it.

—Oh, were you enjoying the duel?

—Yes, I don't usually see many duels between wyverns— seeing that wyvern in front of him only made him more nervous. He was completely wrapped around the cherry tree to camouflage himself; even his legs were touching the ground. He might be small, but he was still 8 meters tall and 5 meters wide... but that wyvern was huge next to him.

—And what name should I call the beautiful wyvern in front of me?— The snoring came out louder, and his gaze intensified; the tail also swayed a little more excitedly.

—Yuji... Hm... And yours?

— Sukuna — with great dexterity, landed on the ground, making a loud noise that made the ground shake, being careful not to bump into the cherry trees near his guest. His wings were still spread, and his chest puffed out. —You smell like an omega, but you don't look like a female... a male then—he turned his neck, without looking away. — I didn't know that males could be omegas. By your appearance and coloration, you could easily be mistaken for a female.

—Yes, I hear that a lot,— he lets out a grunt, annoyed by this.

—I like that, a pretty little thing like you, singing while I ride you... It seems tempting to me;— his tail swayed and made a noise, very similar to a cat's purr, only thicker and deeper.

Yuji ended up jumping with it and, without realizing it, ended up humming, causing Sukuna's eyes to dilate and him to approach the tree he was still hanging from.

—Oh, does that excite you? I bet if I knocked you out of this tree...— he opened his mouth and licked his teeth. —I could mount you and make you hum my name. Would you like that... Yuji?

Yuji had no reaction; he never thought he would be courted and in such a rough and daring way. But he didn't want to have just a quick fuck and be dumped later; his dream was to find a partner and spend the rest of his life by his side. Somewhat impossible due to the constant bad luck he had in love, but he liked to dream of having a family and finding true love.

Even though Sukuna was extremely attractive and would probably make a great fuck partner, he didn't want to be a simple fling. Then, he shook his head to be able to say what he wanted, even if it would hurt him later.

—Hmm, I... I don't want to be just a fling. I'm not that kind of wyvern; I don't want a fuck; I want a mate!— He snorted and turned his face, not wanting to look at Sukuna and see any expression of anger or disgust at his words.

—It seems that I didn't express myself very well; I'm not looking for a fling. I'm really interested in you; the other wyverns don't seem to be interested in me... They say that I am too brutal in my turf battles or that my personality is not very pleasant. So seeing you watch me and get aroused isn't something I can ignore— he was getting closer and stood almost on top of Yuji. —I'm not the type to give up or let what I want slip out of my claws. When I want something, I get it.

Yuji, out of nervousness, ended up falling to the ground, completely embarrassed, and before he could get up, Sukuna was already on top of him. The wyvern looked at him as if he were a prey to be devoured; he was huffing and puffing, his tail hitting the ground hard.

—You're going to look so cute carrying my cubs. You'll carry them even outside of mating season... I'll be so good to you, Yuji— he lowered his neck and rubbed his cheek against the other's face.

Yuji got even more goosebumps with that and, by instinct, used his tail to grab Sukuna's, making it stop beating. As he does so, Sukuna seems to purr with happiness — even if the noise sounded more like a growl — Yuji returned the affection and hummed in response. He felt the larger body get even closer, practically on top of him, causing his breathing to accelerate.

But then a loud growl caught their attention. Sukuna raised his face and stared at the sky, noting that there was another wyvern in his territory, perhaps a friend of the one who invaded. However, he couldn't have arrived at a worst time; it infuriated him to the point where his body shook and his scales vibrated.

Looking at it from the point of view of the new wyvern intruder, it seemed that a battle for a mate had taken place there; it was not just for territory. Yuji's singing had apparently attracted another curious and interested wyvern.

Sukuna roared loudly and raised his wings, without leaving Yuji, who was completely unaware of the situation he was in at the moment.

—I'll get this over with and take you to my nest,— he said without looking away from the new intruder. —Wait for me here and watch me finish this fool.—

Sukuna began to flap his wings and climbed higher, while Yuji adjusted himself and sat looking up. Sukuna looked so fierce and handsome flying towards his new opponent that he couldn't hold back his singing, excited by the new duel.

Yuji was very happy; he couldn't believe that he had found a potential mate to be by his side for his entire life. A strong and daring wyvern that would provide him with the best hunting and safety. Maybe rainy days weren't so bad, because he wouldn't have met his partner otherwise. Yuji couldn't stop imagining what his life would be like from then on as he watched the brutal and one-sided fight that was taking place again in front of him. He had hit the jackpot.
