Spider-Man and What Happens When You Blackmail Him.

Summary:

Spider man is not like The Avengers. He looks out for the little guy, and Tony Stark drags him away from the neighborhood he protects and is loved by to make him a hero, and not who he really is at his core.

A vigilante.

Notes:

I was watching Daredevil awhile ago and I've seen some comics about Team Red and I was like, hey, what if Daredevil got to Spiderman before Tony did and taught him what he knows, giving Spiderman a good mentor that doesn't manipulate him into leaving home to save the world? So basically he's just more vigilante than superhero.

So I read a few fics, and cooked up this idea, which kind of isn't even an idea yet, haha, so this fic is definitely gonna be crap. Definitely a little ooc too, oops. Fight scenes are also mostly from memory so sorry if they're a little weird! I did actually watch civil war like an hour ago though so it won't be too bad for THOSE scenes, maybe the chronological order will be fucked though.

Chapter 1: Good day? Suspicious...

Chapter Text

Peter was having a good day, which was obviously a bad sign. A day this good meant something bad was coming to make up for it. But, when he walked into his apartment, everything seemed... Good. Tony fucking Stark was in his living room. This was better than good, it was awesome.

"Wow, this is so cool, uh, what are you doing in my apartment?" Peter asked. He was happy that Tony was here, but why he was here was a different story.

"You remember that Grant you signed up for?" Mr. Stark said with a wink. Peter took a second to catch up, stuttering a bit. "Uh, yeah, of course the uh..." Peter said.

"The scholarship Grant. Yeah." Tony said. "I'd like to talk to you about it in private." Tony winked again. Peter was kind of tired of this winking. Peter glanced at Aunt May, who seemed happy for him, and all his nerves mostly went away. "Uh, yeah, sure, my room is just over here..."

Peter was immediately nervous again as Mr. Stark started basically making fun of his crappy tech. "What is this? Goodwill? Salvation army?" He said jokingly, as if it was a bad, unheard of thing.

"Uh, no, it's from a dumpster actually— whatever, what are you here for?" Peter asked, tired of him dodging around the questions after showing up unannounced to his home and making immature comments about his Aunts appearance.

Mr. Stark pulled out a hologram video from the watch on his wrist. "Hey, that's you." Mr. Stark said with a smile. "Look at you go! 3,000 pounds at 40 miles an hour, and you caught it just like that..."

Peter was almost too busy just admiring the tech to realize what he was implying. "What? That's crazy, sir, have you seen my gym records? I couldn't possibly—" Mr. Stark interrupted him again, something about how his suit was more like a onesie than an actual super suit. Peter was getting tired of his insults, not matter how much he admired him.

"Look, I'm not spider—" Mr. Stark interrupted again, using a broom to open his attic and revealing his suit. Peter quickly grabbed the suit and shoved it in the bin under his clothes hanging.

   Peter sighed.

"What do you want..." Peter asked, seeing it now. This was the bad thing to even out his good day. Mr. Stark only smirked. "You ever been to Berlin?"

Peter went slack jawed. "Absolutely not! I'm not leaving Queens for you." He had patrol to do, people to save, and homework to do. Not to mention his internship with Matt! He would tear him a new one if he knew Mr. Stark had found out his identity, and then would tear Mr. Stark a new one for using it to blackmail him.

Tony walked towards the door nonchalantly. "Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to tell your hot aunt—" His hand was webbed to the door handle.

"No." Peter said sternly, using the intimidating voice Daredevil had taught him.

Tony smirked. Again. "Berlin it is... Spider-man."

.

.

.

That night on patrol, he was taking a short break on the roof with Matt. It was a wednesday night, there wasn't much crime anyway.

Peter sighed, letting his sneaker-covered feet dangle off the side of the building. "I don't know what to do, Double D." Peter said sadly. Matt's head twitched, likely listening to his organs, or a mugging across the city.

"Tony fucking Stark came to my apartment and flirted with my aunt, then blackmailed me into fighting in his war with Captain America. On another continent." Peter put his masked head in his hands. "Don't meet your heroes, I guess..."

Matt was deathly silent. "...Go. Go to Berlin, and you give 'em hell, Pete. Don't even pick sides, just web anyone who comes at you or hurts anyone you actually like." He said. "If you show them you're not just a kid to be pushed around, that you're a vigilante not a hero, they'll start seeing you for the badass, crime-fighting kid I taught you to be."

He clapped him on the back, and gave him one of his creepy, yet surprisingly comforting smile. "Besides, if all goes to shit, at least you could keep the suit." Peter smiled. "...Yeah, thanks Double D." Peter hugged Matt, and stood up, brushing off his red sweatpants.

"I should go, I have a long flight in the morning I should probably rest up for." "Yeah, yeah. Don't get too caught up with the famous rich people, alright Pete?" Daredevil said. "Stay safe, and don't get cocky!" He said as Peter was already swinging off to his apartment.

.

.

.

Tony Stark was getting too friendly. Giving him advice he didn't actually need. He was obviously trying to get Peter to like him, and trust him.

Jokes on him, he already had a F̶a̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ mentor figure. And he believes in him enough to think he could play the middleman antihero for all the avengers. And their quarrel.

Peter, who was looking through a lot of Tony's tech and admiring his new suit, finally zoned back into his conversation. "...so, he's gonna say you're young and in over your head, and joining a war about things you know nothing about... Don't listen to him." He said. Wow, real subtle manipulation there, Mr. Stark, Peter thought.

"And go for his legs, he's a big arm fighter." He said again. Peter was just waiting for the battle to start already. His fingers were twitching, aching to use his web shooters.

Eventually they landed in the big concrete plane.. area? What do you even call those things? And waiting for the fight to be ready. His super-hearing was zoned in on Mr. Starks conversation with Cap, waiting for the code word.

  "Underoos!"

Immediately, Peter swung around and webbed captain America's shield, taking it for himself, and landing an epic pose on top of a plane. Peter had never felt so cool in his life. The eyes of his new suit narrowed.

Peter wasn't as awkward during hero affairs as he would have been before he met Matt, but Matt had taught him how to be serious, and what situations called for it. This felt like a good situation for it, he probably looked so cool right now.

The heroes were looking kind of shocked. A couple probably saw him on the news. They quickly stepped out of their shock though, when the battle begun, and there was no time to ponder on the weird new guy dubbed Underoos.

Peter hadn't had this much fun fighting someone in a long time. He was laughing wildly as he swung around buildings and followed Bucky and Cap into the building. Bucky threw a punch.

  Peter caught it.

"Oh my gosh, you have a metal arm! That's so cool!" Peter said, like a nerd. If Bucky ended up stopping punching him for 5 minutes, Peter would ask every possible question about the mechanical arm. He took 2 seconds to be embarrassed while Bucky looked at him in shock. A kid just caught his punch? With his metal arm? What the hell?

The 2 seconds went by quick because Cap threw his shield at him and Peter had to catch it with a web, and he decided to swing it around and hit Bucky and Steve with it in one go.

"Sorry! You're like, my idol, this is so awkward..." Peter said, crawling up a wall. He lost sight of them for a moment, but quickly crawled along the walls to them. With his enhanced hearing, he heard a soft 'what is that thing,' which, ow, Peter was not a thing, and an 'everyone's got a gimmick now...' and ran to find where the voices came from.

He sure brought the battle to them. He webbed them to the floor, and smiled. "Don't tell Mr. Stark I let you off the hook!" He whispered as if it was juicy gossip with MJ over lunch, not even trying to use his new weapon on these guys. Middleman it is.

Peter did a sick backflip and swung away on a web to the rest of the fight. He found Cap again a little later, and they had their own fight.

"You know, you're young, you couldn't begin to understand this fight you've been pulled into." Peter laughed and stole his shield again. "Mr. Stark said you would say that." He said. "He also said to go for the legs, but that would mean actually listening to what he tells me to do, so it's not gonna happen no matter how helpful it would be.'

Peter practically danced around him with the training he got from Matt. If black widow saw, Peter hoped she would be proud, one spider hero to another.

"So instead of just blindly listening to what Mr. Stark says to me, I did my own research on Sokivia and the Accords, and made my own opinion!" Peter said, doing another spin and hitting Cap with his own shield again. Seriously, it was so easy to steal...

"And you still decided to join him?" Steve grunted out the question. Peter laughed again. "No, Dude, I'm the middleman! I like you alot."

Peter got punched and kicked a couple times, the first hits the super soldier had landed the whole time, and he was thrown over to a big storage unit. He coughed, and got up again. "Ouch, nevermind..."

Steve laughed, and dropped another storage unit on top of him, which Peter had to struggle to hold up. Matt would be a little upset with how he was getting cocky, but in his defense, fighting the Avengers was so easy it was fun.

"Where are you from, kid?" Cap asked, amused. Peter almost glowed seeing how Captain America seemed charmed by him.

"...Queens." Peter said shakily, still lifting the unit.

Cap took a step back. "New York? Nice. I'm from Brooklyn." He said with a smile, before sprinting off to the rest of the battle.

When Cap was gone, Peter bent his knees, and screamed. He threw the unit about 80 feet away. He felt like a wet noodle, but before he met Matt, he never would have been that strong. Matt was surprisingly good at teaching a mutant kid, for a guy who wasn't a mutant, despite being very very skilled.

Peter curled up by a truck and downed 5 makeshift high protein bars he made for his freaky mutant metabolism. He chugged some water, too.

He got up again when the little guy, who he knew was Ant-Man, started to grow as tall as a 10 story building.

"Hey guys," he said, swinging onto the scene. "You know that..." He swung around the Ant-Man. "That super old movie, The Empire Strikes Back?" Peter asked, hearing a couple remarks on just how young he really was.

He swung around the Ant-guy, wrapping around his legs. The Iron-Men punched the giant in the face, sending him falling back. Peter just narrowly missed getting hit by a giant hand.

Peter landed on the ground gracefully, giving a dramatic bow to the non-existent audience. "And the crowd goes wild, woo!" He smiled. He loved the little moments like these.

Mr. Stark had to ruin it by patting him on the shoulder and saying; "you did good kid, go sit the rest out."

Peters smile immediately faltered. "Ex-squeeze me?" Peter said. God, he was spending too much time with Deadpool if he was picking that up. "You brought me all the way to Berlin to make a dramatic entrance and send me to fight like 3 guys? Hell no. I was here when the fight started. I'm still alive, so I'm gonna fuckin' finish it."

The Peter Parker who fought as spider man was a lot different than the Peter Parker who built computers and cared for his aunt may. The tough streets of Queens had taught him to fight dirty, and not to give up... Also lots of cuss words.

Tony furrowed his brow. "No, kid, you're done." He said, and walked away without a word.

Okay, so Peter was pissed. But, if he wasn't wanted on Tony's side, then he would just go the the other. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

Notes:

Was this a good chapter? I'm open to feedback cause I know I'm not that great at writing fiction. Just be nice about it, don't hurt my tiny feelings <3

I actually really enjoyed writing this, there's a strong chance of getting another chapter in the near-ish future.
