Chapter Text
Fadel sits at the edge of the bed, his eyes lingering on the empty space where Kamin had been moments before—where Kamin had let go of everything, just for one night.
The chain.
He had given Kamin the necklace, just a simple piece of metal wrapped in the hope that it would mean something. Fadel had told himself it was nothing, just a gift, better given to someone rather than throwing it away. But deep down, he knew—he wants it to be something more. It was a piece of him he wants Kamin to carry, even if their paths had diverged in the light of the morning.
Fadel reaches down into the drawer beside his bed, pulling out a matching chain bracelet. The two pieces, connected by more than just metal, a silent promise that they had shared something neither of them could forget. A mark of what they were to each other in that moment.
His fingers brush over the cold links, but it’s not the bracelet that makes his heart stutter—it’s the memory of Kamin's expression last night, eyes clouded with uncertainty and longing as Fadel slowly took him.
Even this mirror yearns to see me, my beloved
Fadel glances into the mirror across the room, his own reflection looking back at him like an unfamiliar stranger. He smirks bitterly. Last night, he had stripped Kamin bare, physically and emotionally, and the mirror… the mirror witnessed it all. Fadel’s chest tightens. The mirror, like everything else, is also yearning for something more—just as he does.
The door creaks open, Fadel’s body tenses, his heart leaping into his throat as his eyes flick to the doorway. A shadow fills the frame—his little brother, Bison, comes to remind him of the contracts, the job, the things that existed outside of this madness. The sight of his brother brings Fadel back to reality. His world isn’t just a space of passion and obsession. There’s also work; there are jobs to do, and Kamin, with all his defiance, was gone.
“Did mother send a new target?” Bison’s voice snaps Fadel from his thoughts.
“No”, Fadel replies with a tone that’s almost too casual. “It’s quiet for now”.
But inside, it’s anything but quiet. His mind replays that moment with Kamin, their bodies tangled in the sheets, the way Kamin had finally given in to his own need to surrender. Fadel can still feel the heat of their shared passion. He doesn’t realize, in the moment, how much he wants Kamin to want him the way he does.
“It’s only natural for you to yearn for me, Kamin”, he thoughts, the words almost a whisper in his mind. “You will. You will come back, just like the moth drawn to the flame”.
As Bison walks out of the room, Fadel steps in front of the mirror, standing still as he traces his thumb over the bracelet once again, as if it could bring him closer to the inspector, back to last night.
[FLASHBACK OF LAST NIGHT]
The dim light of the bedroom cast long shadows over Kamin’s body as Fadel loomed over him, his fingers caressing every inch of his skin. His eyes traced the curve of Kamin’s neck, the soft dips of his chest, the way his body arched beneath his touch. The air was thick with the heat of their desire, every breath a shared rhythm.
Kamin’s vulnerability, his surrender—it was intoxicating.
“Look at you”, Fadel murmured, his voice low and hungry, his fingers lightly skimming the edge of Kamin’s jaw. He moved slowly, taking his time to savor the sight before him. He leaned in closer, pressing his lips just above Kamin’s ear. “Every inch of you”, Fadel continued, voice thick with longing, “is fucking breathtaking”.
Keep praising me like this all night long, my dear
Kamin’s breath caught, his eyes closed as he let the words wash over him, sinking deeper into the sensation. Fadel's hands roamed lower, tracing the lines of Kamin’s body, feeling the soft pulse beneath his skin, the way his muscles tensed in response.
“Don’t hide from me”, Fadel whispered, trailing his thumb over Kamin’s collarbone, down to the hollow of his throat. “You’re mine tonight. I’ll make you remember how perfect you are”. His thumb brushed over Kamin’s lips, teasing the soft curve of them. “Every part of you is beautiful. Let me show you just how beautiful”.
Kamin’s lips parted slightly, a soft, breathless sigh escaping them. Fadel could see it in Kamin’s eyes now, the way they shimmered with something raw, something untamed. Desire. It was a need that matched Fadel’s own.
“At this moment, you’re mine. Just let me love you like this. Praise you like this. All night”, Fadel promised, his lips brushing against Kamin’s neck, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin.
[FLASHBACK ENDS]
The room feels still, his eyes closing briefly. Fadel’s hands are restless, moving over his own skin as though tracing the same path he’d taken on Kamin, remembering the way the man had felt in his arms—so soft, so pliant, so willing. But the thing is… they hadn’t known each other’s names then. Fadel hadn’t cared. But now, in the silence of the aftermath, it's the only thing Fadel can think about.
He closes his eyes and let the memory flood back in—Kamin, breathless, hands clutching the sheets, his back arched, eyes half-lidded in a mix of pleasure and desperation. “Fadel”, he imagines Kamin saying. The name slipping out between ragged breaths, a plea, desperate, craving. He pictured it vividly. Kamin’s lips, whispering his name with that aching, breathless tone. “Fadel...”
Even uttering my name brings positive fortune
Fadel’s lips parted, and in the quiet of his apartment, he whispers to the stillness, imagining Kamin’s voice once more. “Say it again. Say my name again”.
He could almost hear Kamin’s voice again. “Fadel…”
Just the sound of it was enough to stir something inside him, a fire that burned hotter with each passing thought. His mind flickers to the hours they had spent together—Kamin beneath him, on his knees, in his arms—giving up everything, surrendering to Fadel’s guidance, to the touch that ignited every inch of his skin.
Do not easily extinguish the desires of my heart
He had made Kamin burn with desire, just as he now burned with it himself.
This moth burns itself just to be touched by your breath
Fadel’s mouth opens slightly, his breath coming in shallow gasps. He is the moth now—drawn to the flame that is Kamin, a flame that may destroy him, consume him, but one that is impossible to stay away from.
“Kamin…” He whispers the name under his breath, feeling it on his tongue like a prayer, like a promise.
Fadel’s fingers tightens around the bracelet, the cold links biting into his skin, the sensation grounding him in a reality he’s not ready to accept. Kamin is the enforcer of the law. But that doesn’t mean Fadel will let the memory of what they shared fade.
It’s only natural for you to yearn for me, my beloved
“It’s only natural…” Fadel mutters to himself, the words tasting sweet as they escape his lips. “The chain will make you remember, Kamin. You have to”.
The necklace, the bracelet, the fire between them—it is inevitable. And when they meet again, as they inevitably would, Fadel will be there to remind Kamin of everything he had left behind. Of everything that still burned between them.
They would both be consumed.
