“Kichan, come faster! Shanks is going to be there today!” My older brother, Luffy, calls out to me.
“I’m coming Luffy!” I yell back, and I run faster.
You dummy, I was the one who told you that pirates were here to begin with, I thought, but I kept that to myself. He can’t know what I know.
Ok…so I am 6 years old and Luffy is 7 currently. Shanks came here a year ago…so Luffy will eat his devil fruit around now, won’t he? I hope I got my timeline correct…I do have the worst memory though…and this anime does have over 1000 episodes…so.
It doesn’t really matter right now, I don’t have to prevent anything in the current moment, so I can just relax.
I take a deep breath and continue running, we finally make it to the bar where Shanks and the red-haired pirates are and I sit down. Luffy immediately asks Shanks if he could join his crew, which Shanks flatly refuses. Hopefully Luffy won’t do something stupid like stab under his eye to prove that he’s strong or whatever this time. They continue talking (more like yelling on Luffy’s part) when I ask for some orange juice from Makino.
“Here you go dear” She says, handing me the glass.
I thank her and start sipping it. Why are kids in a bar anyways? Garp is the worst caregiver ever…at least he hasn’t given us to the bandits yet, but that’ll happen.
I then see a really weird fruit. It’s purple and circular and is covered in spirals. That’s the Gomu-gomu no mi if I’ve ever seen it. This fruit will turn Luffy into rubber…at least that’s what he’ll think for 19 years…
I’ve done nothing to change the story so far, so I could at least do this, even if it doesn’t actually CHANGE anything.
When Shanks isn’t looking, I shove the fruit into Luffy’s mouth to shut him up. In order to reduce any suspicion, I keep my hand on his mouth and yell:
“Shut up already! He said no!” Luffy starts licking my hand (eww…) when suddenly he stops as the door swings open. While everyone is distracted I wipe my hand on Luffy’s shirt.
A bunch of people come into the bar. They talk some trash to Shanks and his crew and then demand for some liquor.
“We’re all out, but we do have one more bottle, AND it hasn’t even been opened yet!” Shanks offers the last bottle up, to which the bandit smashes over his head. I duck under my chair and cover my head with my arms in order to make sure none of the glass cuts my head.
Everyone is shocked, and then the bandits complain about how one bottle couldn’t possibly be enough for them. They then brag about their bounties and about how many people they’ve killed (maybe don’t do that stuff in public, then again what is anyone going to do about it?) Shanks decides to clean the mess up, to which the bandits create an even bigger mess. Then the bandits leave. I get up and go with Makino to check on Shanks.
“Are you ok, Shanks-san?” I ask
“Yes I am Kisona-chan” He replies.
All the pirates start laughing, including Shanks. Luffy however, gets pissed off.
“WHY DIDN’T YOU FIGHT HIM???? HE MADE YOU LOOK WEAK!!!” He yells.
Shanks tells him that he’ll understand when he’s older, and that needless killing doesn’t make a man a man.
“Whatever! Come on Kichan, let’s go!” He yells at me and he storms off. I stand up quickly and follow him out. Shanks grabs his hand to stop him and it stretches.
Luffy freaks out, and so does everyone else in the bar. Shanks and his crew explain to Luffy that he ate the Gomu-gomu no mi and that it turned him into a rubber man. Shanks also mentioned that Luffy can’t swim anymore as he ate a devil fruit. Ok…now I feel bad.
“Hang on…I never ate…Kisona…was that thing you fed me…WAS THAT THE DEVIL FRUIT?” Luffy asks loudly. Everyone looks at me…and Luffy looks mad.
I accepted that as my cue to run and I got out of there as quickly as possible.
