Work Text:

Dr. Muñoz was talking with one of his coworkers and walking down the corridor. Suddenly the peaceful morning was disturbed by someone screaming: “I’ll give you normalising surgeries!”

The old doctor looked for the source of the noise and found one of the surgeons who worked in the hospital, running down the hall, being chased by one of his patients. The blond, skinny man running after him had a knife and was clearly angry. The younger doctor ran up to the old professor and hid behind his back, despite being taller than him.
“What’s going on here?” the old doctor asked calmly, trying to deescalate the situation.
“This bastard.” the man pointed his knife at the younger medic “Proposed normalising surgeries on my intersex kids! He wanted to mutilate them before they could even read!”

The patient was still wearing a hospital gown. They had blue eyes which now sparked with fury, hidden behind a pair of black, round glasses. His abdomen was still slightly swollen, he only had a c-section a day before. This was the moment Muñoz remembered who the man was.
“Mr. Carter, there is no need for violence. I’m sure we can talk it out.”
“He tried to hurt my twins! My own children who I brought into this world!” the dreamer energetically gestured with the weapon.
“I understand, Mr. Carter. But hurting him won’t solve any problems. Also, you shouldn’t run this early into your recovery, your body needs time to heal. Please, hand me the knife.”
“Only if this asshole will never touch my kids!”
“I promise you he won’t. Can you please hand me the knife now?”
Randolph reluctantly passed the weapon to the old doctor.
“Now, please go back to your room. No one will perform any surgeries on your children without your permission.”
“Thank you, doctor!”

The man then limped back to their room, clearly in pain after putting their body through unnecessary strain. Muñoz sighed. He may need to keep him longer here if he tears something.

The old doctor didn’t understand how someone who just gave birth could run at full speed with a knife, as such a person would need to have absolutely no self preservation. Then again the man did procreate with a horny deity to have the twins, so they didn’t seem to know when they’re in danger. Carrying a monster under one’s heart for nine months is probably very risky, but Randolph didn’t seem to care. Or maybe he liked bringing inhuman creatures into this world, since he seemed more than happy to do so. They even called the twins “beautiful” when they first saw them.

Carter didn’t really have a choice in who carried the twins. Lavinia didn’t even have a uterus, and no matter how long she was on HRT she couldn’t get pregnant. And Randolph probably could try. He didn’t have to worry about dysphoria much, as he never minded his body. So the pale woman together with the All-in-One got the dreamer pregnant and he had their kids. Fortunately there weren't any major complications, which Randolph was grateful for.

They helped their girlfriend have the children she wanted and they had no regrets.

***

Carter was chestfeeding one of the kids, the other was breastfed by his girlfriend (she could do it with HRT). They agreed earlier on both taking their part in raising them. Alyda was helping her brother too.
They got a separate room so folks wouldn’t notice the unusual newborns and the dreamer picked a hospital versed in the supernatural. They had to travel far for it, but the twins’ safety was worth it.
“Thank you for standing up for the kids. I was lucky to avoid such a fate and I’m so happy my children can avoid it too.”
“You’re welcome, dear.”
There was a moment of silence between them as both parents just enjoyed their kids and each other's presence.
“So how are we going to name them?” Randolph asked.
“I think Wilbur for the one you’re holding and Marceline for this one. Just like we agreed before. My spouse assured me the kids will be a boy and a girl, it even told me which one will be which.”
“Well then I think it could work. But we will still let them pick the clothes and toys they like anyways, right?”
“Of course! You only agreed to carry them if we would and I don’t break promises given to my partner.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Princess!”
