   Summary

   Liam can see his triumphant grin through the mask he’s wearing, only his eyes and mouth visible. “You’re really going to just let me take him? Come on now, I was expecting a little more fight for your never-to-be husband. Seems too bad, he truly is quite beautiful.”

   “Have you not embarrassed me enough? Take him and leave me to die.” Diaz’s voice grits out weakly, and Liam can hear the humiliation in it. Serves him right for giving Liam up to have to figure his way out of this by himself, the asshole.

   “Very well then,” The pirate says, taking the sword away from Diaz’s throat, and Liam can hear the confusion in his voice. “Run back to your commander and tell him you’ve failed, that you let the one thing that was supposed to mean the most to you slip through your fingers.”
