Summary
18-year-old Ash Callenreese was a high-school drop-out country boy with no prospects, grew up doing hard work for his family, was rough-mannered, rough-spoken, and overall stoetic. Reading the newspaper one day, he sees a job for herding sheep in the mountains for a summer, deciding to try it out.
Once arriving at the job, a young-looking man, 19-year-old Eiji Okumura, who came to America from Japan when he was young, a country boy who was a dreamer and carefree, a lot less stoetic than Ash, was there as well.
The summer the two spent together would be something that changed the course of their lives forever.
