“Let him go, Please! Let him go…”
~~~
Athena was very slowly coming out of her stupor, her head was pounding and the last thing she remembered was clinging to her father like she was a godling again and pleading with him to save her friend.. She had no idea if it had worked. She was partially surprised to realize she was even still alive.
She groaned and ran a hand through her hair forcing her eyes to open despite the pain in her head. As soon as she adjusted to the, far too bright, room a cheery face dipped into her field of vision
“Good morning, Sunshine! We thought you were a goner, but lucky for you, you have a medical genius for a brother!” Apollo bragged, far too loud for Athena's taste
“You're yelling… What happened? Did father release-? “
“Ody?” he cut her off,” Oh yeah he's on it. Or, well, Hermes is on it. It's his,however many greats, grandkid, so” the sunshine god shrugged and went about checking her out, “Hmm, you're healing a little slower than I'd like. I'm gonna grab some Ambrosia and send in your visitor”
Athena relaxed when she heard Odysseus would be released before she seemed confused “Visitor?” she asked, but Apollo had already rushed off and out of the room. It was then she finally took notice of the state of her room..
There were vases of flowers everywhere, filled to the brim with yellow and pink carnations, her father's favorite flower, there were other things too, the shield Hephestus had made her was leaning against the wall beside a potted grape vine and a potted fern. Her spear had been cleaned and repaired and left in arms reach. A beautifully arranged bouquet of Lilies with peacock feathers was nestled amongst the carnations, Hera. All over the room there were traces of her family, she smiled a little as the door burst open.
“You look like shit” Ares said, walking into the room and removing his helmet. She could see the tinge of worry in his eyes..
“Can't look worse than you, ugly” she shot back with a half grin
He barked a laugh and came to sit beside the bed, “Worse, you look like dad” he said, her eyes widened and she groaned
“No! I'll never be able to talk to mortals without them running now!” she lamented
Ares grinned at her before his face fell and he became serious..
“I…We thought you died, Thena. Never pull that shit again. Dad could have ended you”
Athena sobered at his tone, her brother's fear and worry was palpable now “I'm sorry.. But I needed to save my friend. He's important, not just to me.”
Ares nodded and clasped her shoulder “I won't say I understand, because I don't, but I'll support you. While you're here I'll keep an eye on your mortal. I still want that bloodshed you promised” he said
She smiled and put her hand over his “Thank you brother.”
He nodded and leaned back as Apollo came back in with the Ambrosia “Here we are! Unfortunately I can't help with that scar or the… Different eye color but rest assured they look super cool!”
Ares snorted and leaned his head back “Dad's favorite kid, slowly turning into him” he said before grunting when Athena hit him, hard, with a pillow.
He retaliated and shoved Apollo at her and she laughed..
Maybe everything would be okay.
