Work Text:
When one transcends the mortal plane, you wouldn't except to feel much of anything.
So why does something within Viktor ache so painfully?
He is finally rid of his physical form and the pain it brought, and while he wouldn't consider himself deprived of his humanity, feelings (if they could be called that) have become almost... dulled. What was once a bright colour palette of emotional conflict and pain, are now muted, desaturated hues that are easy on the eyes and soul. No more conflicting feelings about right or wrong, about to love or to be loved, everything seems more cohesive in a sense.
That is, with the exception of a pit of black deep within his mind that makes him think of the man he once called his partner.
The void, or the astral plane, whatever one may call it, has been lonely. Sky leaving made the silence grow loud, and her final words echoed in his mind. Did he ever listen to her? Was she even real here, Viktors mind and the hexcore have become one, its possible that remnants of who she was were preserved. At least, its what he initially had believed her to be.
Now, he isn't so sure. Prehaps his desire for approval, that he truely is doing the right thing, clouded him to the point of creating a puppet of the dead to validate his own delusions.
Sometimes, if Viktor really focuses on it, he can still feel the pain from his leg. It doesn't make sense, but neither does the Arcane, so he doesn't question it too much. He isn't sure at times if what he's doing, what he's saying, is actually him. When leaving Jayce, and Piltover as a whole, he didn't quite feel in control. It were as if he became the puppet and was forced to watch his body make decisions for him. It took a long time before he felt he had any control over his own body again.
Viktor doesn't know if hes Viktor anymore. Prehaps the hexcore killed him as well.
He thinks of Jayce, that is nothing new. One aspect of himself that has not changed since he laid eyes on the other scientist. It was hard not to think of him, the Man of Progress as he was deemed by the people. Gods, that felt so long ago, a simpler time where mortality and legacy were all to worry about.
He come to the conclusion that hes made a mistake, this isn't the right path, this is dooming the world and he needs to stop it before its too late, before he-
Gold eyes turn dull as the influence of the hexcore retakes the reigns.
No.
No, he's not doing the wrong thing. Hes letting his human sentimentality cloud his vision, a world without needless suffering or pain, a world that could be truely and permanently in cohabitation. A world where everything is... perfect.
Yes, he's doing the right thing. He must continue, he's the only one who can do it.
In the depths of one may call a soul, something pulses. It's painful, but Viktor cannot feel it in that moment.
