Work Text:

Charles had always loved his job.

Apart from knowing that being a teacher isn’t as easy as he thought it would be, teaching children fondly had tattooed a soft spot in his heart.

The classroom was empty since it was Friday where his students got to go home more quickly than usual because of the change in schedule.

Charles had given them an assignment involving free-writing an essay. His students can pick any topic they like and write their thoughts about it.

Charles recently taught them grammar and writing, so he wanted to highlight them.

When Leona’s paper, Lando and Oscar’s daughter was the next one he’s going to mark, Charles smiled.

‘Leonora Juliet Norris’

Charles chuckled when he remembered that Leona loves her dad’s last name so much that the little girl will write it down everywhere in her assignment paper or even drawing book.

Charles knew that both Lando and Oscar had been tutoring and teaching Leona a lot before Leona entered school, and he’s aware that Leona is a smart girl with excellent skills of learning and incredible creativity.

‘Daddy is my hero’

Charles was excited to read more. He was curious about the oh-so-heroic act that Lando’s been up to.

‘Daddy is a hero because he saved Papa!’

Okay, that was… odd.

Charles had met Oscar two days ago and the Aussie was perfectly fine—no bruises, no scars, no crazy stories about how he was injured or even in an extreme situation.

Maybe Leona just used a metaphor.

So Charles continued reading.

‘It happened three days ago when I heard Papa screaming so loud from the bedroom!’

‘Papa said, “Lando I’m coming! Oh God I’m coming!”’

Oh my.

Was Leona explaining something Charles thinks she’s explaining?

‘I don’t want Papa to die so I run so fast to my parent’s bedroom. I saw Papa’s leg up and Daddy was pushing him so hard when God tried to pull him away!’

‘Daddy pushed so many times.’

‘God let my Papa go and both of them were safe!’

Charles really needs to talk with Lando and Oscar.

“Is Leona behaving badly at school?” Oscar shot the question as both him and his husband took a seat.

Of course, as every other parent felt, it’s always a nightmare when your kid’s homeroom teacher suddenly  invites you to school for a little talk.

It’s worse since Charles has been Oscar's good friend since highschool.

“You should take a look at this.”

Oscar was the one taking the paper first, reading the content anxiously while Lando tries to peek beside him.

Leona’s handwriting was messy, but not that bad until someone can’t read it.

“What took you so long, Osc?” Lando asked and he was slapped by Leona's paper assignment in the chest after that.

“You read it yourself!”

Oscar glared at him angrily, his face flushed in red. Lando tried to avoid it, trying to fully focus his attention on his daughter’s essay.

It was an innocently written essay from the point of view of a child but Leona was trying to describe the intimate moments he had together with Oscar.

Oh my.

Lando wheezed as he put the paper back on the table.

“I swear, Osc—I—I thought I already locked the door!”

“Of course, Lando. You THOUGHT.” Lando was bad at convincing and Oscar’s the proof why.

Charles let out a deep breath, knowing the couple in front of him will have a fight sooner or later.

“Guys—sorry to cut things off but it really doesn’t matter if you already locked the door or not. What both of you guys have done has been recorded in Leona's brain and she thinks it's a heroic act.”

“So… what do we do now, Charl?” Lando asked innocently. Oscar still glares at him angrily as if his loud scream (and moan) wasn’t the one who bought Leona peeked inside.

Charles shook his head, trying to hold back his laughter. “Mate, just try to give her a logical explanation. Don’t let her be contaminated by her parent’s dirty plays.”

“Ew Charles what the fuck.”

“So… princess. You got a writing assignment yesterday from Mr. Leclerc, right?”

“Yes!” Leona nodded excitedly. Oscar stroked his daughter’s soft curls. “But Mr. Leclerc gave me a bad grade and told me to redo his assignment..”

Lando cleared his throat, wanting to say ‘Of course you got a bad grade. You wrote about your parents having sex! Why didn’t you just write about our family trip to Dubai?’ but he stays quiet since it would make Leona upset. Leona always fears him when he’s angry.

“Do you know why you got a bad grade?” Lando asks softly.

Leona pouted while shaking her head. “I don’t know Dad… Is it because of my handwriting?”

“No, sweetheart. Your handwriting is fine. Infact, you improved a lot!” Oscar corrected quickly while placing a kiss on his daughter’s cheeks.

“It’s about what you wrote, princess.” Lando continued softly.

“But I wrote about Daddy!”

Lando cleared his throat for the second time today.

“Yes darling, but what Daddy did wasn’t heroic at all.” Oscar tried to explain. “What Daddy did was something you’ll understand when you’re older.”

“But what did Daddy do?” Leona asked curiously.

The little girl tried to give Lando a pleading look since Lando couldn’t stand refusing her, but Lando held back and it caused Leona to whine to Oscar.

“Papa tell me! Pleaseee tell me!”

Both of them tried to explain it in a simple way so Leona could understand, but it doesn’t work well since Leona started asking them unnecessary questions.

Oh well. It’s going to be a loooooooooongggggggggg ride home for the Norris family.
