Work Text:
This wasn't where Maddie thought her mission would lead her. Seducing, distracting and keeping an eye on Caitlyn was one thing but now she also had Vi to worry about. It had been a few days since Vi's return, since her and Caitlyn got together, since Vi jokingly said Maddie should join them for a threesome.
It had been a joke but also a perfect opportunity for Maddie to buy a little more time. That was all she needed really.
"Where's your mind at, Mads?" Vi asked while she twirled Caitlyn's hair around her finger. The Kiramman heiress was half on top of her, completely passed out.
"Work stuff." She turned and gave what she really hoped was a fake smile. "There's some things I need to take care off. Can't let the boss handle it all." Maddie leaned down and grabbed her shirt next to the bed. "Let her sleep, okay, Vi? She needs it." Briefly a memory of a moaning Caitlyn flashed in her mind. The desire to relive it was deep inside of her but she didn't have the time.
She needed to report back.
"Hurry back." Vi mumbled, half asleep already as she turned to her side and hugged Caitlyn close.
Maddie bit her lip and only have a polite nod. She fought with everything she had the urge to strip and hug them. She liked them, she honestly did. Hell she might even be falling for Caitlyn. If she wasn't careful.
Refusing to dwell on these ideas and fantasies she hurried over to her home, where she knew her real boss would be waiting.
"Lady Ambessa. You've made it." Maddie bowed her head and placed her fist across her chest in a show of respect. "I-"
"You're late, Nolen." Ambessa acted like she was at home, sitting in the chair with one leg thrown over the side.
"Complications arose, and I was occupied."
Ambessa laughed, "Occupied... is that what you're calling it now?"
Chewing on her bottom lip Maddie looked at the sparse collection of books on her shelves. "I told Cait- the Commander, that you might be willing to negotiate."
The loud thud of Ambessa's palm striking the nearby table made Maddie's spine straighten even further. She too knew that it was a dumb request. Wishful thinking of someone who wanted to keep her fantasy alive for as long as possible.
It was dangerous to suggest such things in front of Ambessa.
"You've been here for a little over a year and you're spouting such nonsense. You're supposed to help me to get the little Kiramman to see our way of things, not the other way around. A spy who can't do her job is of no use to me, Nolen." She left her seat, heavy footsteps echoing around the barely furnished living room. "Maybe you've outlived your usefulness, with Vi back in the picture."
Maddie dared to narrow her eyes at Ambessa. "That's not true. Caitlyn still trusts me. And Vi will trust me, in time. That's all I'm asking of you."
"Bold of you to ask anything me. And of all your targets why so attached to this one? Is fucking her really that fun? Or is it more than that?" Her questions were never pointless, each word was meant to cut as deep as a blade. Deeper even. Maddie didn't dare look up at her anymore.
She was scared that Ambessa would see something she shouldn't. Something that shouldn't be there in the first place. As a spy it was disgraceful to fall for your target. Caitlyn wormed her way into Maddie's heart before she realized it was happening. Which could only mean one outcome.
"They killed one of my most trusted soldiers. The battle begins two days from now. When the opportunity presents itself you are to kill Caitlyn. Are my orders clear?" There wasn't any emotion on Ambessa's face, or Maddie's for that matter. She only needed to nod and do as she's told.
Caitlyn was a weakness. And Maddie needed to be the one to get rid of it. Or else her usefulness really would come to an end. This gave her only two days, two days to enjoy Caitlyn and Vi to the fullest. It was selfish, it was cowardly, it was petty.
And she was going to do it because it was her job.
She arrived back at Caitlyn's place just a little after breakfast. By now she knew that Caitlyn would be getting ready in her room so she helped herself to a few cookies for herself before entering. "Top o' the mornin'."
"Maddie. Good morning." Caitlyn greeted her with a little more cheer than usual. Maddie wasn't a fool or blind, she knew she wasn't reason Caitlyn was in such a good mood. It was the brawler still sleeping in Caitlyn's bed, clutching a pillow against her chest.
"She's... surprisingly cute when she's sleeping." Even she had to admit that. But not to Vi's face, that would probably end badly. Unless it was Caitlyn who said it, she could get away with calling Vi cute. "Come over here, I'll do your hair."
"Oh. Alright." With some reluctance Caitlyn walked over to her desk and mirror. She didn't see Maddie's smile drop for the briefest of moments. As she stood behind her she ran her hands through her hair, memorizing how it felt under her fingers. "About last night... I want to you to know that it wasn't my intention to... hurt you. Vi thought it would be fun-"
"And you'd do anything to make her happy. I know. Don't worry Commander, I don't expect you to treat me the same as you treat her." When all the knots were worked out and Caitlyn's hair feel flawlessly over her back Maddie reached for the hairband. "Vi sure does know how to show a lady a good time, I can see why you like her."
Caitlyn blushed and her eyes ran back to the reflection of Vi sleeping on the bed. She didn't see Maddie's eye twitch. "I do."
Fucking bullshit. All of her hard work, months of it, undone so easily. Screw trying to stay in a fantasy, it was over the moment Caitlyn told her not to follow her on her next mission.
"You know, I'm glad you were honest with her. About us. And I'm glad she doesn't mind me sticking around." Her hands dropped from Caitlyn's ponytail, one exposing her shoulder, the other cupping Caitlyn's cheek. "I could get used to this too." She placed a firm kiss against Caitlyn's shoulder.
Caitlyn shivered and gulped, Maddie felt it against her fingers, the ones running up and down her lover's neck. The other one dropped further down, first pressing against Caitlyn's stomach, then going even lower.
"Maddie... we have work."
"That never stopped you before. Barely the start of the day and you're already so tense. It's alright, Commander. Vi and I will take care of it." Her hand wrapped around Caitlyn's neck, stopping her moan in her tracks. "Got this wet already. Hardly even touched you. Gods... it'd be so easy." She squeezed a little harder and Caitlyn's eyes closed, missing the smirk on Maddie's face. "Too easy." Biting into Caitlyn's shoulder she let her go, gloating as Caitlyn let out a whine.
That was close, if she wanted to she could have...
Maddie's warm brown eyes met Caitlyn's deep blue ones before the blue met stormy gray.
"How are the two of you awake already? Better not have been holding out on me last night." Vi had no shame as she stretched, showing all of her muscles.
"Close your mouth, or you could start drooling." Maddie chucked as she ran her fingers across Caitlyn's chin. She was met with a retaliatory bite which sent a pleasant buzz across her body. "I'll leave first. Try not to take too long you two." She winked at Vi as she kissed Caitlyn's cheek.
She would have loved to stay for a bit longer but there will be time for that later on in the afternoon. When she knew Vi and Caitlyn would need to unwind. Until the time was right, she needed to keep them close.
