The forest was dark, quiet, and full of challenges that Katsuki found irritating. He blasted through branches with little regard, muttering curses under his breath.
“You realize we’re supposed to be stealthy, right?” Todoroki said as he stepped over a fallen log with ease. His gaze swept over the area.
“I don’t do ‘stealthy,’ Icyhot,” Katsuki snapped, exploding a vine blocking his path. “Stealth is for people who don’t know how to fight.”
“Or for people who don’t want to alert the enemy to their location,” Todoroki countered.
Katsuki glared at him, his palms popping, “Keep talking like that, and I’ll show you a sneak attack right here.”
“Charming as always,” Todoroki said, a smirk on his face.
From a spot high up in the trees, Kaminari and Shinsou crouched on a branch, watching the two of them below. Kaminari snickered. “I don’t think they’re supposed to be fighting each other. We still have to find the main objective.”
Shinsou smirked. “Let them. It’s more entertaining this way. And they'll get on track soon.”
Todoroki stopped abruptly, raising a hand to silence Katsuki’s next word. “Quiet,” he said in a low voice, his eyes narrowed at rustling leaves ahead.
“Don’t tell me to—” Katsuki started, but Todoroki’s glare shut him up.
“Something’s moving,” Todoroki murmured.
Katsuki grunted, scanning the forest with sharp eyes. “Probably just Sparky being a dumbass again.”
“Hey, rude!” Kaminari’s voice floated down from the trees. “We’re literally up here minding our own business!”
Shinsou sighed, “And you’re giving away our position to the enemies ahead.”
Katsuki growled, his gaze shooting upward. “You two morons are supposed to be part of this mission?”
“Observation only, Sensei didn't say this beforehand to those on the ground.” Shinsou said as he leaned against the trunk of their perch. “Though you two are giving us plenty of material to report back on.”
Todoroki ignored them, already stepping forward, “If it’s not them, it could be the target,” he said, his hand at the ready to summon his quirk.
Katsuki followed, his palms at the ready, “If it’s not, I’m blasting it anyway. I don’t care if it’s a fucking squirrel at this point.”
Kaminari and Shinsou glanced at each other before whispering, “This is better than TV.”
When they finally reached the mission’s goal, Katsuki turned to his boyfriend, “Fine, the ice bridge wasn’t the worst idea.”
“Thanks,” Todoroki replied, giving him a kiss on the forehead.
Kaminari gave Shinsou a sly smile before also leaning in for a quick kiss. “Think we could outdo them in teamwork?”
Shinsou laughed softly. “Always. With our eyes closed even.”
