Work Text:
Beca frankly was not in well enough condition to be at Bellas practice, but they had a competition coming up, so she was there anyway.
No one seemed to notice her wavering or the fact that her energy was even lower than usual, though. She was thankful for this. The last thing she needed was to be hounded by her fellow Bellas for being unwell.
Chloe did notice, though, and Beca ended up finding herself thankful for this as well, despite the fact that it conflicted with the rest of her feelings on the matter, since Chloe was the only person who was able to react properly when the world went dark.
Beca had been feeling that feeling growing in her chest- The one she always got whenever she was about to faint- But she didn't have an opportunity to step aside or situate herself in a safe way, so she had simply been trying to push through the feeling.
Clearly, though, this ultimately failed.
Chloe saw as Beca's eyes fluttered and then rolled back, and quickly hopped into action to catch her. The other Bellas gasped in surprise and quickly broke away from their song, surrounding Beca's limp body and asking a million questions.
"Bellas!" Chloe said firmly, silencing the rest of the women. "She's okay. This just happens sometimes. She has a medical condition" she explained, vague enough so as to not spill all of Beca's medical history, but specific enough to ease some level of the concern. "Cynthia Rose" she said, directing her full condition to the rapper. "Help me carry her out?"
"Oh, right, yeah, of course"
Beca's eyes fluttered open and she quickly realized that she was in her bed. Chloe was next to her, staring at her with those big, blue eyes of hers.
"You fainted during rehearsal" Chloe said, before the brunette could even ask. "I caught you before you hit the ground, so you shouldn't have any injuries. I told the others that you have a medical condition because they were panicking" she explained. "I didn't specify beyond that, though" she clarified at Beca's concerned expression. "Cynthia Rose helped me carry you back"
"Thank you" Beca said quietly. Then, after a small moment, she continued. "I knew before rehearsal that I was in no condition, but-"
"You didn't wanna be held back by it" Chloe finished for her. Of course it wasn't the same thing, but she knew that feeling from when she had gotten vocal nodes. It was a frustrating dilemma. "Please, just, be more careful"
"I will" Beca promised. "Thank you, again"
"No need" Chloe smiled. "Now" she stood up suddenly. "You're taking the rest of the day off. How does a romcom sound?"
"Sounds fantastic"
"I can't tell if you're being sarcastic"
"Honestly, I'm too out of it to know myself"
"...Yeah, that's fair"
