King of Chaos

Summary:

Katsuki and Todoroki bicker over a makeshift fort Kaminari and Shinso had assembled from the beanbags and blankets in the common room.

Work Text:

“I swear to God, if you call me a tyrant one more time—”

“But you’re sitting on it, aren’t you?” Todoroki replied as he gestured to the monstrosity that Kaminari and Shinso had dubbed “The Throne.”

Katsuki sat on a lumpy pile of beanbags draped in mismatched blankets, a gold Christmas tree ornament lazily hanging from the armrests. Kaminari had even added a plastic tiara, which Katsuki had promptly hurled at him.

“I’m not sitting on this crap because I want to,” Katsuki snapped as he crossed his arms. “You idiots made it so I couldn’t get up without knocking half the room over. This isn’t a throne, it’s a hostage situation.”

“It suits you,” Todoroki said.

Katsuki glared daggers at him. “Shut it, Half-and-Half, or I’ll make you sit on this disaster and take a picture for your stupid fan club in first year.”

From their spot on the couch, Kaminari struggled to breathe through his laughter. Shinso was leaning against him with a smirk on his face, “You know he’s just proving your point, right?”

“Shut it, Mind Freak,” Katsuki snapped.

Later, after Todoroki had calmly stolen Katsuki’s throne just to provoke him and Katsuki had reclaimed it, Kaminari turned to Shinso. “Do you think they know they’re already acting like an old married couple?”

“They absolutely are an old married couple,” Shinso replied, leaning over to kiss Kaminari on the cheek. “It’s funnier this way.”

As Kaminari buried himself into Shinso’s side, Katsuki finally abandoned his throne with a loud huff. He stomped over to the kitchen to grab a drink, muttering something about “a room full of damn clowns.”

Todoroki now sat perched on the heap of beanbags, sipping his tea like royalty. In a way, he was. “It’s surprisingly comfortable,” he remarked.

Katsuki's eye twitched. “Oh, you wish you were king, Icyhot. Don’t get used to it.”

“Don’t worry,” Todoroki said,“I think the throne belongs to you.”

The sarcasm was subtle but not lost on Katsuki, who spun around and pointed a finger at him, “You’re lucky I don’t blow that smug face of yours into next week.”

“Lucky indeed.”

Kaminari leaned into Shinso as he whispered “I think they’re flirting.”

“Probably,” Shinso replied, “This is as romantic as it gets for them.”

Katsuki shot them both a deadly glare. “I can hear you, you know!”

But as he stalked off, cheeks tinged pink, Shinso and Kaminari exchanged grins. Katsuki could deny it all he wanted, but the soft tone in his voice when he yelled at Todoroki to “get off his dumb throne” told a different story altogether.
