Notes:

So this is my first fic/oneshot. I just got bored and wrote this in like 2 hours. I had dream about something similar to this and thought that I should write about it. Im also unsure about the title. It make sense for the fic but idk it sounds weird. Also its 12 am so if there is spelling mistakes or if it makes no sense I will fix it later but for now it looks pretty good to me.

Anyway enough yapping and enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

All Sirius had wanted for that day was to wake up, make a coffee just how he liked it, try to finish the commission that he had been working on for far too long, and be at peace. But, of course, the day just had to go wrong. Well by wrong, he means totally off the fucking rails crazy.

To start, he woke up with a jolt due to his phone going off on his nightstand. He could guess who would be calling at this god awful time but he glared at his phone, as it began to vibrate on the nightstand, essentially throwing itself to its demise, before he picked it up.

He sat up and looked at the screen. Of course james’ name glowed back at him. Who else would call at 8:30 on a Friday fucking morning. He reluctantly picked up the call and all but groaned into the phone.

“What James?”

He heard James’ delightful chuckle that normally would make him smile coming from the other end. “Woah sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed”

“Really James ? What gave that away?” he replied sarcastically.

“Doesn't matter Pads.” He brushed off quickly. “ I was wondering if you wanted to come get drinks with me and Lily and the rest of the gang later tonight? Usual location, obviously.” James said to his friend. Sirius could hear the smile in his voice. He knew Sirius couldn't turn down an opportunity to drink at his favorite pub with the people he loved most. Well maybe not James, he wasn't really loving him at the moment.

With an annoyed sigh, Sirius said, “Fine. Sure James. But why did you have to ask me now? I was having a lovely dream of me and some gorgeous man and it was getting to the good part-”

Before he could finish his sentence he was cut off by a startled James on the other line.

“Woah, Pads. You know i will listen to your sexual conquests any time-”

“Gross ,don't call them that-”

“But, I think even hearing about those kinds of dreams is too much. Even for us.”

“Ok but you still haven't answered my question.” Sirius replied , almost sounding bored.

“Well Lily happened to ask me a couple of minutes ago and just thought I should ask sooner rather than later, you know? You could be holed up in that little studio of yours when I finally decide to call and you don't realize because you're so focused.”

Even though people often said that Sirius was overly dramatic, and who is he to deny those claims, James was just as bad in his opinion.

Rubbing a hand over his face in an attempt to wake himself up slightly, he said back, “Right ok then cause that makes sense. I'm going to hang up now my Dear Prongs and maybe try and go back to sleep after some very rude man woke me up-”

“What! Take that back Pads-” he heard prongs squawk

“But love you and see you tonight at the Three Broomsticks.” He replied back. He knew that would shut James up and hopefully leave him be to go back to that lovely little dream from moments earlier.

“Aw I love you too Padfoot! See you later” He heard James happily reply back before he hung up the phone. He sighed in relief and threw his phone back on the nightstand, almost spilling a cup of water from last night. He really loved prongs, truly. Anyone with working eyes could see that in the way both men interacted with each other. But truly in time like these he was glad that they no longer lived in the same space like they did during their boarding school days.

Without a second thought he collapsed back into his pillows and went back to sleep. Well tried is probably a better word.

He laid there for what felt like hours, attempting to fall back into that peaceful sleep he was in before the phone call. But every little noise, whether it was the birds from outside his window, the people making their way to work on the streets or even his annoying neighbor making his 3rd smoothie in the past 20 minutes, he couldn't sleep.

So, begrudgingly ,he sat back up and stared at the wall. He really didn't want to get up. But he had things to do so it would be best to get them done now. He looked back at his phone. 9:30. He hasn't woken up at this time in months. He grabbed his phone and got out of bed. He paused as he felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. Guess he should take those iron tablets after he eats. He then swiftly moved into the bathroom to fix his hair.

He looked into the mirror and saw that his hair was sticking up in all directions, reminding him of his best friend james. God, he has to fix this immediately. He took the bobble out of his hair and brushed out whatever it was that was resting upon his head. Once he deemed himself somewhat presentable he walked out of the bathroom and made his way to his kitchen.

Once he got there he b-lined for the cabinets he kept his coffee in. It may not be the best tasting coffee in the world, but it did the trick. However, he was met with a horrific sight. The tub that normally housed his coffee mix was basically empty. There was no way it would be able to make a full cup of coffee, He just stared at it for a second, willing it to magically fill back up, but sadly, it remained empty. With a pitiful sign he closed the cupboard and decided that he would have to venture out of the apartment and get something. He didn't really feel like going all the way to the corner shop, it was 10 minutes too long away from him and that wouldn't do.

He then remembered that the little bakery that was about 4 buildings down from his apartment building had a stand where you could make your own coffee. That would have to do. So he then reluctantly moved back into his bedroom and got changed. When he was looking through his wardrobe he couldn't find anything, everything he actually wore was sitting in the corner of his room, begging to be brought to the laundromat. He decided he would just grab a t-shirt from when he was 16 that barely fit him still and a pair of dark blue jeans he bought a few days ago. He then put his hair up, half up, half down just like Marlene had taught him many years ago and grabbed his plethora of rings and placed them on his fingers.Even though he was just quickly stepping out to grab a cup of coffee and go, he felt too bare without them.

Finally he grabbed the leather bomber jacket that rested on the chair beside his desk and walked to the entrance. He then slipped on his Doc Martens, grabbed his wallet and left the building swiftly.

He checked his phone quickly to see what time it was now, 10:00. He would wake at this time sometimes if he had an earlier night, but still, too early. He also noticed that he had a few notifications. Some from Instagram, probably new clients looking for a painting of some sort. A message from the current client he was working on, he could get back to that later. And he also noticed a message from Marlene asking if he was coming tonight. As he was nearing the bakery, he typed out a quick reply to Marlene, assuring her that he would ,in fact , be going with everyone.

He slipped his phone in his pocket and went to open the door of the quaint baker when the door came flying towards him. He was essentially smacked in the face with this door, great. He grabbed his face and cursed quietly, “Holy shit, what the fuck!”. He heard a man profusely apologizing on the other end. He glanced up at him in annoyance.

The man looked his age, just slightly shorter than him. He was wearing a cream jumper under a dark magenta apron with a name tag that said “Peter” on it. He must work in the bakery. He sported blonde short hair that sat neatly on his head. As Sirius looked at him directly he could see his face was red in embarrassment. He had his hands over his mouth and he continued to apologise.

“Oh my god I'm so sorry!. I didn't even see you, are you ok? I'm so sorry holy shit. I didn't mean to! Fuck I need to be more careful next time, Sorry again-”

Sirius cut him off before he could say sorry again and raised his hand that wasn't holding his face. “ Hey it's ok..em..” He glanced back down at the name tag,” Peter. It's totally ok you didn't see me. Lets just pretend this didn't happen and you can get back to whatever you were doing.” He finished. He sounded slightly annoyed, which he was, but he did feel guilty for that. The poor guy looks like he just killed a kitten by accident. Sirius lowered his hand that was holding his face and smiled at the man.

The man looked at him apologetically , “Yes, Great. Good. Well again sorry about that. Em… welcome to La Lune. Hope you find what you're looking for.” He steps to the side in a way of letting Sirus into the establishment. “Have a good day, and I'm still so sorry!” He finished before speeding away. Sirius just stood there for a second before walking into the bakery.

He hasn't really been in here often. Stopping by once every few months if he saw something nice in the window or, like why he's here today, in desperate need for coffee. When he glanced around. There wasn't anyone there. Either the Peter guy was the only employee or the others were in the back room. I didn't matter to Sirius, he just went to make his coffee.

The place was as small as it looked on the outside. It was adorned in dark purple colours that stood out against the dark wood of the walls. There was also a plethora of plants scattered everywhere. It was truly a beautiful little business, he must stop in more often. As he made his way over to the little coffee station on the back of the shop, he heard someone rustling in the backroom faintly. He chose to ignore it until he eventually needed to pay. He grabbed a paper cup and placed it in the coffee machine.

He clicked away at the touch screen of the machine, getting a plain black coffee that he would add milk to later and watched the cup slowly fill up. He glanced around the place a bit more and looked in at the desserts displayed at the counter. Each one looked like they were specially crafted by hand. They were all so unique and had different flavors and decorations. Many of them contained some form of chocolate, which Sirius was quite funny. He noticed a chocolate and strawberry cheesecake slice that looked quite appetizing to his empty stomach. He turned back to the machine as he heard the beep to indicate it was finished before briefly deciding he would get the cheesecake too.

He took the cup from the machine and sat it on the counter in front of him. He then grabbed the glass jug of milk. It had intricate designs stretching across the surface of lavender plants. It was quite pretty. Then as Sirius lifted the Jug to fill his cup, He heard a load crash come from the back, then a load shout of “FUCKING HELL”. It made Sirius jump quite violently, which then made the very beautiful jug slip from his grasp and shatter to the floor.

It was like the whole shop went silent then. Sirius just started at the once magnificent jug that was now in a million pieces at his feet. He then kneeled down, trying to avoid the shards and went to pick up the mess carefully before someone noticed, which he doubted. He then heard the door to the back swing open. He glanced up to find a man standing at the door looking panicked.

He was sweating slightly and looked quite stressed but all Sirius saw was a God right before his eyes. He had beautiful golden tan skin that was freckled, mainly concentrated on this nose. He had a scar slicing his top lip in 2. Sirius wanted to lick it. His eyes though. They were a hazel colour that looks like the colour of an enchanted forest Sirius would read about as a child. The hair that looked very crazy was a light brown colour, it had a slight wave and curled around this man's ears. It looked to be also slightly longer in the back. Sirius could just imagine what it would feel like between his fingers. He then realised he had been just staring at this man, while also thinking obscene thoughts about him in his head while he was trying to say something. He only caught the end of the man's sentence.

“-Peter should be back soon. Are you hurt or anything?”

Sirius just stared at him for a second. This beautiful man was talking to him and all he could do was stare back at him, mouth slightly agape.

“Em.. Yeah I'm ok, just jumping I’ll clean this up. I'm so sorry about this, I just jumped and it slipped out of my hands. It really is a beautiful jug. I was just thinking as I was pouring in the milk, ‘Oh wow this is so beautiful it fits the vibe of this place so well!’ I'll pay for a new one I swear, I'll get you 2 even in case someone breaks it again like just did. I really didn't mean to ,oh my god this is awful. Once I clean this mess up I'll leave and never come back, well I’ll need to come back to give you a new jug obviously but I won't cause anymore trouble-OW!”

Sirius, as he had been rambling nonsense to this very handsome man before him and cleaning up the mess, hadn't realised that he had grabbed a very jagged shard of the jug while attempting to clean the mess. Before he could stop he picked it up and grasped it tightly in his hand, slicing it open. The man at that point rushed over to Sirius, who was now clutching his hand like an idiot.

When the stranger got closer Sirius could see his features in more detail. His hazel eyes had little gold flecks in them that made his eyes even brighter and intense. He also had a smaller scar slicing his left eyebrow in half. He could also see that he wore a dark brown jumper with a lighter brown stitching throughout it creating a pattern Sirius couldn't really make out. He also wore the same apron that the Peter guy wore and the same name tag, only it said Remus on it.

Remus.Remus.Remus.

What a divine name for a divine man. Taking him out of his thoughts. Remus took his hand and said.

“Oh my god are you ok? I was gonna tell you to stop with cleaning but you were so distracted. Come with me. We have a first aid kit in the back. I'll try and clean this cut for you.”

Sirius flushed slightly and nodded. He was then dragged to the back by Remus and guided to sit down on a stool. Remus stood before him and whipped a cloth out of the front pocket of his apron. He then took the hand he was still holding closer to him and wrapped the cloth around the wound.

“Just ball your hand up in a first for me. Yeah just like that, perfect. Just put as much pressure as you can on it while I grab the first aid kit. Ok?””

Sirius just nodded, blushing at the praise and Remus walked away to the long cupboard at the end of the very long room. Sirius was going to have to get himself together if he was going to survive Remus being this close to him. He looked around the room for a second, noticing a few boxes on the floor in the corner. That must have been the ruckus that made Sirius jump like a baby. He then looked at Remus, who chose at that moment to turn back to Sirius, which obviously made Sirius blush like he was a 14 year old girl. God what is going on with him today?

Remus then approached him and lowered himself down so he was crouching in front of Sirius. He then took his hand and unwrapped the cloth and placed it beside him. The cut wasn't that bad, he's had worse, but it still wasn't the prettiest sight. Remus then wordlessly took an antiseptic wipe and ripped it open using his teeth. That may have been the hottest thing Sirius had seen in his life.

“This will probably sting a bit but I'll try and be quick.” Remus said, cutting through Sirius’ thoughts. He then began to swipe at the jagged wound. Sirius hissed slightly as it stung at the edges of the slice. Remus was muttering small apologies throughout the process, easing Sirius’ mind slightly. Remus then went to grab some gaze from the kit and slowly wrapped it around sirius’ hand. He pulled it tightly then took some scissors and cut it off and tied it securely. He then lightly tapped the bandaged hand. “All done” he whispered while smiling.

Sirius couldn't help but smile back at him. “Thank you” he mumbled back. Remus truly looked outer worldly this close up. He had a bump on his nose that made him look even more endearing than he already did. His lashes were long too. They created a slight shadow against his freckled cheeks everytime he blinked. He doesn't think he's ever seen someone quite as uniquely beautiful and Remus. He then realizes he hasn't really said anything since that rampling he had done that had gotten him to where he is now.

“I'm really sorry about the milk jug. I just heard something fall down here and I got scared and dropped it.” He rushed through the sentence quickly. Remus looked at him for a second. He looked amused at Sirius’ statement. Great, he must be making a fool of himself.

“It's ok…” he paused, staring at Sirius questioningly, looking for his name.

“Sirius. My name is Sirius.”

Sirius ,” he whispered. “Well Sirius, don't worry about the jug. Mum won't care about it, I hope. There will be other jugs. Also don't worry about paying for a new one, you don't need to do all of that.” He replied, chuckling slightly at the end of his sentence. Sirius just looked at him for a second.

“Are you sure? I don't mind. I'll pay extra for the coffee and the cheesecake I was going to get. Or I'll just tip you the amount the jug was. Please, I'm really sorry Remus.”

Remus looked slightly shocked when he used his name, forgetting that it was in gold lettering on his name tag. He then grinned back at him, his white teeth catching slightly on the scar that sliced his lips, the same one that Sirius was slowly becoming obsessed with.

“Seriously-” Remus started, before Sirius laughed loudly at him. Sirius grinned at him, making Remus realize what he had just done.”Oh god. Right but I mean this when I say that there is no need to do any of that. I don't even know how much that jug was, mum's had that ages.”

“Remus! That's even worse! I have to pay you back for it!’ Sirius exclaimed in shock.

Placing his hand on Sirius’ knee in a way that totally didn't make Sirius blush, Remus replied easily, “Stop it ok. No worries. I'll clean this up quickly if Peter isn't back and then I'll ring you up. You might need to make a new cup of coffee though. Yours is probably a little cold at this point.”

Sirius decided that there was no point in arguing with him and just sighed and nodded back at Remus. Remus looked delighted and stood back up, craning over Sirius.

“Good. I'll be back in a second to see if Peter is back then you can make that coffee while I clean and then I'll get that cheesecake, how does that sound?”

“Great.”

“Good. See ya.” Remus said before slipping through the door. Sirius sat there, thinking over this interaction. How did any of this happen? Today was meant to be a normal day just like the rest of them, and now he has just met the love of his life. Maybe that's thinking too far ahead, but he still has met the most beautiful person in the whole of London, maybe even the universe. Remus then walks back in.

“Pete isn't back yet bull i'll just clean this up quickly” he said holding the door open wide enough for Sirius to slip past. Sirius then stands up. He pauses just like he did this morning. He needs to set a reminder for these stupid tablets Lily thought he should be taking. Remus stared at him, confused and almost worried.

“Low iron supposedly” Sirius replied smoothly, slipping past Remus. He then walked back to the coffee machine and grabbed another paper cup.

“Supposedly?” Remus replied, confused. Sirius turned around to address him directly, noticing he had gotten a mop and brush to clean up the mess that was beside him.

“My friend Lily is a GP ,and I was telling her that I've been really dizzy recently. Then she started quizzing me if I had headaches, heart palpitations and if I was tired and stuff. And I said yeah cause i thought that was normal but she got really worried and said to go get some iron tablets from the pharmacy. I still think she's overreacting but, guess it won't hurt to try it.” Sirius replied as he messed around with the machine again. Remus had been nodding along throughout, showing he was listening to whatever Sirius had to say.

“My dad has anemia too, does sound like you have it. You're pretty pale too.” Remus replied, switching to mopping after brushing all the glass to the side.

“Thanks,” Sirius replied sarcastically.

“You know what I mean.” Remus replied, while smiling. His smile was like the sun beating down on you on a hot summer's day, pleasant. Sirius was enamored by it. It made Remus’ whole face light up like a child on christmas day. It was making SIrius’ stomach erupt in butterflies. He turned back to the coffee and looked to see if there was any more milk. Realizing he was the one who just spilt the only milk that was left out all over the floor, he turned to Remus.

“You wouldn't happen to have any more milk, you know, since I split it all.”

Chuckling, Remus looked up to Sirius, starting into his eyes, “Pete is getting some more milk right now. We have some packets in the back, I can get you some when I'm putting these back.” He said while nodding towards the mop and broom.

“Oh no it's ok don't worry! It's fine like this” Sirius replied quickly. To be honest, Sirius didn't really like plain black coffee by itself, but he wasn't going to inconvenience Remus even more, so he will just have to suck it up for today.

“Are you sure? I don't mind.”

“I'm sure don't worry about me”

“Well ok then well i'll go get that cheesecake for you. Which one were you looking at?” Remus said after putting the mop back in the bucket and walking back to the till. Sirius put a plastic lip on the cup and followed Remus over to the display.

“That chocolate covered strawberry one in the corner.” He said pointing at it. Remus hummed and grabbed a pair of tongs and a small cardboard box. He picked up a slice of the cake and placed it in the box. He then took some ribbon from under the counter and wrapped a bow tightly around the box. Sirius couldn't help but stare at his hands. They were quite big, but still quite skinny, matching the rest of his frame. He was tall too, taller than Sirius, so he must be at least 6,2. This man will be the death of him. In an attempt to distract himself from Remus’ hands and body and everything he turned to him and asked, “Why so many chocolate flavored things?”

He hadn't realised how bluntly he had asked the question until Remus whipped his head up. Sirius smiled apologetically at him and Remus reciprocated the smile. “My dad really loves it and so do I. He is the main person behind the recipes so they always end up with some sort of chocolate in it. We have now started to claim it's a signature here at La Lune.” He said, smiling fondly.

Sirius grinned at Remus. How could someone this hot be so cute? Remus then cleared his throat and turned to the register. “So that will be £12.75, cash or card?” a signature customer service voice slipping through. Sirius had only noticed then that Remus had a welsh accent. It wasn't very strong, probably from living in London, but it was still prevalent in his speech. Sirius then turned to the card reader while mumbling “Card please”.

Remus then slipped the box into a small bag and then turned to grab the receipt. He then hesitated for a moment, before taking a pen out of his pocket and scribbling something onto the back of the paper. Sirius looked at him, he was very confused. Remus then turned back to him, now sporting a light pink blush across his cheeks and the tips of his ears.

“Have a good day Sirius. And be careful with that hand.” He said with a slight smile tugging on his lips. Curious, Sirius looked at the receipt Remus had just handed him. He saw, sprawled on the back, a message. It read,

Want to get dinner sometime?

Call me and let me know

+44-3829-853-820

Xox Remus ;)

Sirius looked back up at Remus who was smiling shyly back at him. He couldn't help the matching smile that appeared on his. And wasnt that just the best case scenario. Sirius folded the piece of paper into his pocket and chuckled before saying, “Thank you Remus, I'll call you later and let you know.” He then winked at Remus, watching the blush return to the tips of his ears.

Sirius then turned and walked towards the door, he turned back briefly and glanced at Remus, who was staring at him sweetly. God Sirius was going to melt and second now. He then left and started to walk back to his apartment. A slice of cheesecake and coffee in hand and also having a cute guy's phone number.

Maybe today wasn't totally off the fucking rails crazing like he thought it was going to be.

Notes:

SUCH CUTIES OMG

Hope y'all enjoyed it. Remus is so sweet I love it and Sirius is just very flustered.
Might continue this with another part/oneshot...who knows!
