Jimmy stared blankly at the letter left on his desk, he reread the latter once more, his heart sinking into his gut.
Codfather, if you want your precious cod-head you’ll have to come here, and there'll you’ll retrieve it.
They stole it, the codfather head was gone.
A choked noise left his lips, more of a gasp then and actual sound, as he tried to focus his breathing.
Calm down, calm down. He hissed to himself as he looked over the coordinates on the bottom of the page. His long green fish tail twitchen anxiously.
It was hard to calm down when the one thing meant to help him breathe was stolen.
“Fuck.” The codfather spat, as the air got thinner and harder to breathe. He slammed opened the cabin door. His feet pounding against the wooden dock before he dove into the swamp water’s below.
His gills opened up and took in large gulps of the oxygen within the water. He could hardly breathe on land without his magical codfather head, and the other rulers had stolen it.
Fish swam up to him chittering happily, excited to speak to the swamp god.
Jimmy took in a deep breath, and spoke back in their language. “Get my sister Lizzie. We need help.” He kept his voice as even as he could.
The fish scattered the command as Jimmy settled onto the smooth rocks under his dock. His tail flicked anxiously.
Lizzie was able to breathe on air without any magical artifacts unlike him, she was his only hope.
Not even ten minutes later, he spotted her. The ocean queen in all her glory, her long pink hair framing her face as she swam towards him. She stopped and carefully cupped his cheeks. “Jimmy? What’s wrong?”
A shudder went through him as he gazed at his older sister.
His throat clogged with shame as he admitted what happened. “Fwhip, he and Sausage stole the codfather head, and they left me coordinates. I can’t breathe on the surface without it.”
Lizzie hummed, her expression darkening. “I’m calling Pix and Joel, we’ll need extra hands, who knows what traps they set up for us.”
“But how am I going to breathe on land?” Jimmy asked softly.
Lizzie’s expression softened at the question as she brushed a strand of blonde hair from his face. “I can place a spell, it’ll only last a couple hours though. Ocean’s blessings.”
Jimmy nodded, taking a breath, his gills opening and fluttering shut. “We better hurry. I don’t trust them with my head.”
“Of course.” Lizzie pulled him up to the surface. “Stay under the dock, I’m not casting the spell until they get here.” She smiled and pulled out her communicator. “I’m calling them now, we must hurry.”
Pix and Joel flew down from the skies, both looking worried. “Where’s Jimmy?”
Lizze chuckled softly. “He’s under the dock. I told him to wait for you both.
She knocked gently on the wooden dock. “Jimmy, they're here.”
Jimmy heaved himself onto the dock staring at the two humans. Lizzie placed her hand on Jimmy’s chest.
A wave of magic washed over him, as his chest suddenly heaved, his lungs expanding taking in the air.
He stumbled slightly catching his breath, thankfulness washing over him as he was finally able to breathe normally again.
Joel chuckled, breaking the tense situation for a few moments, he smirked gazing up at him. “Ready to kick Fwhip and Sausage’s asses?”
Pix shot Joel an exasperated look, but sighed. “I suppose we are.” he turned to Jimmy and nodded respectfully. “We’re your allies, Codfather, we’re happy to help you.”
Jimmy smiled, his tail settling down against the wooden dock. “We are going to get the head back , I have the coordinates.”
Lizzie smiled at him proudly. “Well then, time to take back the Codfather head.”
