Chapter Text
A long winter...
The cold winds were strong enough to cause most humans to seek refuge in their homes, but.. She was still standing there, on top of the mountain, waiting for something or someone to happen, anything that makes her do something.
Nevertheless she knew nothing was going to happen, no one was going to show their face around the mountain, even less with this temperature, but she didn't want to risk being catch "doing nothing", even if there's absolutely nothing to do, so.. She remain still, there. Watching.. Nothing.
...
There, she camouflages herself -even if unintentionally- quite well with the snow that covers the mountain. Her white hair and her white tail blended in with the snow that had fallen in her head and around her feet. The white clothes, even if they had red in them, made no difference in making her more visible amongst all the snow.
"Don't ya think it's strange that the waterfall doesn't freeze in winter?" A familiar yet distant voice asked. If it weren't for her hearing abilities, she wouldn't have listened.
The movement of the white-haired head revealed her barely visible position, as she was now trying to look in the direction from which the voice had come. "Oh, you.. No, i don't find it strange anymore." And, after those cold words, the wolf tengu turned her head again, redirecting her gaze to the snow, as if she was waiting for something.. Else. Anything else, really.
"Hey! Don't ignore me!" The voice said, again, in a distant way.
A rapid whistle echoed through the area, and with that, a lot of snow shot into the sky, some of it falling on the wolf-tengu head. Both things were caused by the fast movement of Aya, who was taking a photo of Momiji while landing behind her.
The white-haired quickly turned back, raising her sword from its sheath to where she estimated Aya's head was. Unfortunately, not even the camera was cut, as the black-haired was already far away from where Momiji could possibly hit her.
"Heh. You're too slow!" The mocking smile in Aya's face made Momiji's blood burn, causing her face to turn into a soft red as she turned her back on Aya, seeking to ignore her one more time.
"I'm not.." The white-haired said in a low tone, trying not to be heard.
While Momiji was lost in her own words, the black-haired bird flew away into the sky, gaining height while a distant "click" was barely audible to the wolf tengu, as well as a small mocking laugh.
"Damn it.." She whimpered under her breath, throwing her sword to the ground, leaving it stuck in the snow. She wiped the snow off her head and tail with her now free hands.
