“So. If you had to choose a Hermit, if you HAD to, who would you choose?” Gem giggles through her sip, cheeks flushed a little from the alcohol.
Saturdays like this were always Pearl’s favourite- hopping onto some random creative world with Gem and just talking over anything and everything, without the fear of being overheard by another member of the Hermitcraft server. They had been building, and then Pearl got out the bottle of wine she had received for her birthday, and then they had been building drunk, and now the wine’s taken over and they’re just plain gossiping, like how God intended.
Pearl taps a finger on her jaw in a fake-contemplative way. Gem’s still giggling as she hums considering her answer. And then Pearl replies, definitively, “Scar.”
Immediately, Gem breaks out into a laugh, declaring, “I knew it! I knew it!” and Pearl hides behind her hands, the tips of her ears turning red.
“What about you?” Pearl responds, desperate to stop Gem’s all-too-knowing look she’s giving over the discord face cam. She feels way too seen right now.
Gem gives it a moment of thought, and then replies, “Etho. Probably.” Pearl nods knowingly. “Or…” but the sentence tails out.
Pearl laughs. “Or who?”
“Nevermind.” Gem’s too quiet, for a second, but then doubles back. “I KNEW you’d say Scar!”
“Shut up!”
“Okay, but what is it about him? Seriously. I don’t understand, but I want to support you in this crisis.”
“I don’t know…” Pearl answers weakly, but she does, really. She just doesn’t want to admit how much she’d been thinking about it, ever since that moment last season with those retextured chorus fruit that had made him laugh for a little too long to seem normal. And- okay, maybe she’s chasing pavements here, but they’re always gotten along so well, whenever they’ve been near each other, and a girl can dream, right?
“Ugh,” Gem scoffs, “I can practically see the thought bubble in your head right now.” She shivers, suggesting Pearl was daydreaming about something a lot less PG, and Pearl’s ears turn even more red.
“Gem!”
Gem collapses into laughter again, and Pearl takes another sip of wine.
